singen_for_you well yall im in contests right now "im in it to win it".. lol :o)i internal dont like usb connections for sound my emu-0404 but that's me i tried usb once got cut outs white noise and data loss...lol THE GEAR GUY.

yeah its not a huge site // but then again that has nothing to do with great gear// i love to talk shop it can save a lot of greif and money/// i was all ways the creative sound blaster card typ// but things change // thats why im here on the board// i realize that reveiws are not the way as handed down by god // but they do help// a lot of kids will swear there guitar and such are 10s strait up /// but its not like going to the music shop// but when people open a cd software disk // as many know its your baby! thats were hands on from people who own these cards and such come in handy

I use a docking station with my laptop, which has one PCI slot available, in which I fitted a soundblaster X-FI extreme gamer card. Only backdraw of this soundcard is that you can only have one input active at a time.
I also use a soundblaster X-FI elite card in my desktop computer.
Major drawback of all X-FI cards is that you can only use effects if you use the "what u hear" input. There's a workaround for the X-FI elite card here : http://www.singsnap.com/snap/forum/topic/b62c323
BTW, if you choose an X-FI card, only choose a extremegamer, titanium, fatal1ty or elite pro card. All the other cards have major drawbacks...

BTW, don't buy the X-FI laptop card. You cannot record anything decent with it...

Well I think soundcards that are made for recording like emu, m-audio, etc. are reasonably priced and made for recording audio, the biggest issue is latency. Need a low latency card to prevent too much delay, and mess up your singing, like an echo.some consumer cards are more focused on playing games sounds than recording, and some are probably good at both. Just sayin.
