If Zimbabwe were rich in oil, Bush and his boyfriends would have been in there sorting out Mugabe by now.. Just wanted to get other peoples thoughts on this....
I totally agree... Same for Britain as well, although we tend to wait for U.S to make the first move and then hang on the apron strings...although i probably included Britain as one of "the boyfriends".. Blair certainly was and Gordon Brown, well i'm not sure. I think he may be in hibernation until he loses the next election

Yes, maybe Zimbabwe should have terrorized the US.. killed 3,000 of our innocent Americans to get some attention around here..

UK indifference sickens me just as much as the rest of the world's inaction. Im all for political solutions but it is clear there isnt one. Maybe it's time for an SAS mission?

I couldn't agree more... People shouldn't have to suffer in that way... It's unbearable to see even the powerless children of Zimbabwe being dragged into this mess...

Problem is that it will play right into his supporters hands and confirm their claims that we're playing the colonial rule card. I think the way forward is for African nations to sort this out, with the support of the UN and obviously the UK.

Perhaps the people of Darfur should have done the same, instead of simply giving in to mass rape and genocide. Then the US would have good reason to 'liberate' them.

Haha exactly! People seem to have somehow been tricked into thinking that there was some link between 9-11 and Iraq. In reality there was none, just somehow Bush convinced the american people that bombing Iraq (for the oil) would be retaliating for 9-11. Not so. Afghanistan.

Saddam Hussain was such a good leader, what was Bush thinking? Tactically it must have made much more sense to work on Afghanistan with Iraq and all of its problems ignored?

We went into Afghanistan in 2001 it was 2 1/2 years (2004) before we went in to Iraq. There was no deceit involved in trying to link Iraq to 9-11 , The case was being made about WMD'S and the terrorist sponsorship from Iraq and the refusal of Hussein to allow U.S. inspectors into the country. The U.S. Congress and Senate had to vote on the war not the people so if Bush "convinced' anyone it would have had to be them . We were dealing with a person (Hussein) whom had already showed that he had no problems using WMD'S as he used them against his own countrymen ,He had invaded another country in 1992 , and was a brutal dictator. While the intelligence we had may have been flawed it was supported by other nations intelligence agency's as well . Main point is we were not "tricked" into thinking there was a link between 9-11 an Iraq.

I'm not saying Saddam was a good guy. He wasn't. But... there are a lot of countries under poor leadership, America included. All we're saying is "isn't it a funny coincidence that we choose to attack the ones that have oil." Besides Bush has personal agendas with Saddam Hussein. But... i seem to recall Saddam being murdered a couple years ago.... interesting...
Liberal thinkers the world over wanted to see an end to the ruling party in Rhodesia , so instead of slowly bringing it around slowly they forced it and now we have a Zimbabwe that is a disaster . Our former President Jimmy Carter being one of the worst offenders. Something has to be done but if the U.S. does something we will only be accused of bulling once again. The U.S. is pretty much damned if we do and damned if we don't.We are the bad guys in Zimbabwe now because we have economic sanctions against them, we are blamed for their inflation rate because of our refusal to give economic aid . The U.N. would do something if the U.S. and Britain will assure that our countries will be the ones doing it .Which is mostly always the case ,Everytime the U.N. say they are going to do this or that it means the U.S. and Britain and a Few other nations such as Australia , Canada and a very few others are going to do something. The small amount of countries that are in this group are the ones that bear the brunt of the cost and the loss of life of our soldiers and the U.N. says look what the U.N. did . Maybe its time someone else stepped up and did something .

Yeah, lets ignore it and perhaps it will all go away...
There are actually quite a few countries that send armed personnel when the UN authorises action, it's not just the UK and the US, far from it. Don't use Iraq as your sole reference point.
I do not think that we should depose him - we tried that with Saddam and that really went a bit wrong. No, I would like to see support given to the people, and an end to sanctions...because sanctions affect the innocent.
I didn't say anything about ignoring it . Something should have already been done. I did not use Iraq as my sole reference point in what I stated , we can use Bosnia ,Somalia and a host of other places . When you compare what the other countries provide in personnel ,money and other support to the U.K. , U.S. , and a handful of other countries it is a dismal comparison. As far as Saddam , well he is gone isn't he ? And while all in Iraq may not be as good as we would like it is not as bad as some would have you to believe. And that is coming from People whom I know personally that have been there and some who are there now . Restoring aid might help but probably not much because the ones who need it the most will never see it . That Governing body took one of the most productive countries in Africa and drove it into the ground. When you have that type of corruption the innocents never see the help unless someone assures that they do .

I don't think any "WMD's" were actually found in Iraqi after all. Iraq didn't bomb the WTC's either. They were terrorists. And a few " conspiracies " evolved round it.
A lot of countries were involved with the Iraqi war. Not just America. It's what you call the "UN"
Yes 3000 might have died that day but they wern't all "Americans" just because it happened in America.
And a lot of British soldiers were killed by Americans miss fires. Maybe they should take their time a little bit before they "shoot" off.
And America only have themselves to blame cos they all want to be so quick off the mark. Shoot first, ask questions later. Same as the UK who suck up to you.......

But you only have yourselves to blame for that. You come across to people as your so "high and mighty" your the most powerfullest (if that's a word) lol country in the world. You aren't. And if America was wiped off the face of the earth. Life would go on without you. Yes many people hate America and Americans because you are just too much. You go on about how great you are and there is nothing more superior than you are.
You go on about how much money you have given to other countries and this and that. People just get pissed off with the bragging. You may have loads of money but you don't know how to use it wisely. You made yourselves what you are. No one did it for you.
America would be so lost in the poop without GB they need someone to back them up lol............
They have made so many mistakes they would pay billions of dollars to countries to get them on their side cos they have fooked up too many times...........

I don't think people expected our military was going to need to rebuild Iraq from the ground up. American's are hurt by this. The rebuilding of Iraq should have been done by outsources but it was too dangerous. It was completely unforseen by our government. So we could withdraw our military but then we withdraw help and aid, too.
So in giving aid to other countries it is not always known if the best choices are being made but, what else? Let people slaughter each other and build nucleur bombs?
Is it possible some countries take advantage of the good will of American aid? This country does not stop giving in spite of all the threats and hate, does it? Is that a government that just thinks of itself?

Oh dear. You really want a list?
El Salvador Nicaragua Guatemala Honduras Panama Chile Iran Afghanistan - you trained Osama, you gave him weapons and whilst he still did as he was told, you turned a blind eye to the actions of the Taliban. Grenada Surinam South Africa Libya Lebanon Ethiopia Cambodia Chad Mauritius Dominica Iraq
The countries I have named above are but a few. Your government tell you that they are 'exporting democracy' but in reality, they are ensuring their own interests come first, WHATEVER the cost.
To give you a breakdown of every single interference from your government would take me all day, and a LOT of typing. Some of it is well known, some of it swept under the carpet, and disguised by private companies. Suffeit to say, there are reasons why many many innocent people do not like America, do not see you as a benign benefactor, and are not 'jealous' of your good fortune. You create more problems than you eradicate, but your government create this themselves. Did you know that Saddam Hussein was one of your puppets as well?
Incidentally, the UK are just as bad at times - but you asked about American involvement, not ours :)

This is to BOTH Sultry_Eyes & Wiccabasket!! I never said that I think we are the grrrrrrreatest country on earth or better than any other one out there!! I just wish that you would understand just because there ARE Those that think like that about America, not everyone does!! I am one of them. I happen to see it for myself that my country is NOT the grrreatest in everything!! The ONLY thing I know about my country is, we have MORE freedoms than any other country. There are a LOT of countries out there under dictatorship that I would NOT want ANY part of!! And even some of OUR freedoms are not there anymore but, we still got em!! :) However, what I have seen so far is, if we DO help other countries? They are NOT appreciative. They come back and basically bite us in the derry aire for it!! I wouldn't call that bragging would you? I call it, more like confusion. :P

Just because there are jackrabbits in here like Bush & his administration and a whole LOT of others? We are ALL not like that. FAR FROM IT!!! ;o) We are actually nice & I always work hard at that to let others know that there are good people here in America!!! Washington DC as a whole is evil. Check it out sometime. :( Hang on and I will share some links with ya!

There's going to be a very nasty civil war in Zimbabwe, I'm convinced.

Hopefully, in the midst of the civil war, they'll find oil. Oh, to be a fly on the wall for that emergency G8 summit.

You make a fine point here Loonpotter.
And speaking of Mugabe, here is a very distressing article:

Edited on July 3, 2008 at 6:49 PM Quote
Reply by sawheadGOLD on July 3, 2008 at 7:26 PM

Sultry_Eyes loves swimming every day :-)I don't think any "WMD's" were actually found in Iraqi after all.

Precicely why people get pi$$ed off with Americans. They claim they do this that and the other. Helping other countries etc, but yet bloody complain left, right and centre all the time of how much they are giving. Give with one hand and yet want to take all the credit with the other.

El Salvador
Nicaragua
Guatemala
Honduras
Panama
Chile
Iran
Afghanistan - you trained Osama, you gave him weapons and whilst he still did as he was told, you turned a blind eye to the actions of the Taliban.
Grenada
Surinam
South Africa
Libya
Lebanon
Ethiopia
Cambodia
Chad
Mauritius
Dominica
Iraq
