Hi LaNell.....

I would have to select option "C". However, coming up with a new "showcase" that would be fair to all is not going to be an easy task. Will try to come up with some ideas to share.....and would be interested to hear what ideas others might have too!!!

At an Art museum they always rotate paintings in and out..who wants to see the same ones over and over? To me, the HOF is an unorganized heap of the same stuff over and over...thus why myself and MANY others have lost interest in it for the most part. Not because we are not in there, but because it's a maze and you end up going in circles.

And that's what the HOF is...who gets the most votes. I just don't think it needs to be over complicated. The community votes, the most votes gets to the top. No delusions of grandeur necessary. The name HOF is misleading. On other user generated content sites it's called "most popular."

There are amazing videos on youtube with 4 views but no one is talking about shutting down the most popular list because "man gets hit in groin" is number one (it's not but you get my point)

In the internet world outside of snap...popularity is a good thing and spam is called "viral". Laissez Faire, let the community set it standards whether individually we agree or not.

Who gets the most votes is simply not good enough.
How many people are actually on the HOF cos they did nothing ?..as in no PMs sent,no links in forum etc etc No idea..but SS needs to make it clearer what exactly they are wanting for the HOF,give us an explanation .How many votes one may get should not be part of it & everyone voting must give reason to why
the said song should be in HOF...

For example ...I wish to nominate Ginge to the
HOF cos he has ginger hair & a snazzy accent LOLOL
& he did very well at said song without any effects.
..hes a blue member..

Then again why bother,as i said above no one is ever
going to be happy & yes that includes moi.

There is nothing wrong with the HOF as long as you take it for what it is. "Most Popular" is objective, "Best" is subjective. The HOF never claimed to be the best recordings nor did SingSnap intend them to be.

I say 'C' and make it rotate every 2-3 weeks,new nominees go in the back pages moving pages forward so everyone that goes in gets a shot at the front page,then after 2-3 weeks there,the front pages go bye-bye as new nominees come in.

Personally get rid of it...In all my time here on singsnap the original argument was over the then TOP recordings page which was based on number of 5 ratings...That was done away with and replaced by the current HOF...Both of these pages have caused message boards with tons of complaining ...The TOP had issues with songs that were the top of the top getting downrated..and that they were only on the top recordings due to people who had lots of friends(wow that same argument carried over to HOF)..Then HOF came and now people campaign for votes via SPAM..or in threads we mention a song posted was HOF worthy..Next thing you know everyone feels obligated for vote for the song. Again as with the TOP recordings page, the HOF is getting tons of complaints. In a community where we are all equal in our love for this site, there isn't any necessity to showcase anyone. So if option get rid of it and all types of areas to highlight performances..then I go for that option.

Have special place as a memorial hall.

Then have a renamed hall where:

All new recordings go on the front page pushing the older ones out of the back door It would work just like the feature page but more pages and more slowly.

Limit the number of nominations a member has around 10 so they really have to think about how they vote.

I also chose A, because the way the HOF is set up now, it coincides with the concept that the site supports having freedom of speech (that doesn't break TOU or COC), i.e., when we offer input, suggestions, debate, open discussions and such. With this freedom of speech concept, it ALSO covers the freedom to vote for who we as individuals feel like nominating on the HOF, as opposed to being stuck with someone else's judgment of what deserves to be there.

I like the way it set up as far as the voting .. would just prefer that other people and their songs be given a chance to be on the first page.

C- I say get rid of it. It creates competition, greed, and hurt feelings in some people. With the HOF gone, we can concentrate on the fun and friendship this site was meant to be.

I'm gonna say "C" also... I think there should be some sort of showcaes for extrordinary recordings... But there does need to be a way to keep people from scamming and spamming their own stuff into it.

Incidentally... Speaking of such...

I just perused the HOF this weekend and I think it's hilarious that the person in there with what certainly looks like the most entries is one of the fewer than six people on the whole planet who is a worst singer than me...

And if you've ever heard me sing... you know just how bad that is! LOL

C is my vote-

Disband as is, deleting spam HOF's if they can be detected, leaving the one's that aren't, possibly putting a limit on how many winning videos one can have. Also having different categories to nominate and sections, such as Funniest Video, Best Video, Best Entertainer, Best Original Recording, and have a Best Singer category for each genre: Rock, Country, etc. I also think another title might help, something that shows equality rather than a seemingly v.i.p. status. And as suggested the ability to sort by date, category, views, votes, etc.

My opinion is = E which is not an option ...... (E)liminate the HOF spammers who beg for votes and spam the (oarlocks) apologies for misspelling ..... the HOF is a farce in it's present state ..That's just my opinion ...... Most HOF top page spammers have me blocked ..... Which in itself illustrates to me the farcical state in which it stands at this moment in time :-)

n for the record, i'm sitting somewhere between B & C... the problem with changing the rules is that people are still going to try and find a way of manipulating it, and as long as people assist them in doing so, then making it fair will be nigh on impossible....
