grammatea4u wrote:What do they mean by 'forced' vaccination? Does that mean they are gonna come and drag you from your house to get the child vaccinated? Or do you mean 'required' vaccination in order for the child to go to school. If we are talking about 'required' vaccination, we already have that. Some of those 'required' vaccinations aren't all guaranteed safe either. Also the agencies that do these testings haven't always been right on target about the 'safety' of any given product either. I think previously what I was trying to say..is we need to figure out if the benefits outweigh the risks of having the vaccination.
I think it's fair if your child is going to be exposed to other children to have a requirement. But even if you are homeschooling them, to not vaccinate them against common preventable illnesses, or something like swine flu...which is turning out to be much more serious than thought...unless you plan to keep them inside 24/7, your choice to not vaccinate them does not only affect their health...but the health of everyone else...so in some cases medical officials might make it a 'requirement' depending on how serious and communicable a disease is.
I personally am not talking about the recommended vaccinations for measles and tetanus, mumps, chicken pox, and other infectious diseases for children, but this esoteric flu that seems to have come out of no where.
Swine flu has not shown itself to be more dangerous than any other flu so far. 33833 cases in the U.S. to date and 168 deaths. That is only a fraction of a percent. The number of deaths is not alarming so far in my opinion, but that number is certainly subject to change. The numbers just aren't there to risk a mandatory vaccination yet. This is my opinion and I'm certainly not a doctor, but the numbers just are not there.
Adding: If you'll look at the world map at the same link you'll see that there have been 94638 cases confirmed world wide and the total deaths reported to date are only 399.

I happen to be in agreement with you on this matter.
Barbara Loe Fisher is the President of National Vaccine Information Ctr.speaks ab out it in the video I have provided. Code RED? Vaccines that don't have to be experimented like a normal vaccination? Talking about the government coming in your home to investigate without consent? New public health laws...What are our rights? Vaccinated or quarantined ...Not much of a choice eh?
Had to correct my math. I forgot South America. Death total at 399, but that is still only a fraction of a percent. I just don't see alarms going off here. They want us to panic. They've encouraged it...the media frenzie.

IDK about you Cat...LOL but my mind keeps going back to those pretty new busses and um....what shall we call them? Rest Places? New lux bathroom stops?.....sorry...I just see them in my head hahaha
"Rampant conflicts of interest in the approval process has been the subject of several Congressional hearings, and a recent Congressional report concluded that the pharmaceutical industry has indeed exerted undue influence on mandatory vaccine legislation toward its own financial interests.
The vaccine approval process has also been contaminated by flawed or incomplete clinical trials, and government officials have chosen to ignore negative results. For example, the CDC was forced to withdraw its recommendation of the rotavirus vaccine within one year of approval. Yet public documents obtained by AAPS show that the CDC was aware of alarmingly high intussuception rates months before the vaccine was approved and recommended. "
I don't have children so this is the first time reading this Cat...and I can tell you the side effects of some of these vaccines are very frightening. Yes...I would think twice if I had children...You betcha!
Mandatory vaccines violate the medical ethic of informed consent.
Then we have Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel -- he's the brother of the president's White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel... saying : "we're going to have to push doctors to eliminate the Hippocratic Oath"

What is the big deal with swine flu? Projected deaths for this flu are less than for the normal flu. I guess one thing is that it doesn't mainly kill the elderly--and in fact they are fairing well against it, which suggests there may have been a previously undetected outbreak of this strain of flu which offered them immunity...
But still, if you take proper precautions (wash hands, cover mouth when coughing, etc), eat well, rest well, and keep hydrated and seek medical attention if you or a loved one gets ill...you'll probably be fine. I'm not going to get vaccinated or vaccinate my kids unless the strain mutates into something much more serious.
I nor my husband or children will be getting the swine flu shot. I would rather take the chance and handle it as kwmma and Ari suggests. It does scare me more then the swine flu itself.
Cheekylilvixen feliz dia de dar gracias! ~ happy thanksgiving everyone! :)
With my kids having a disease that deals with the lungs and a weak immune system( compared to a normal child) etc ... makes me a bit scared. If and when these vaccines come out, I will be the first in line with my kids. THey are most inclined to get this easily. Mainly cus they attend public schools. I think that kids in school, wether elementary,jr high, highschool or college are more likely to get it because not everyone takes the proper precautions. Sure the elderly and babies are more likely not to get it cus babies are under the constant care of a parent and elderly are more likely to be at home than in a busy area with millions of germs around them.
My kids carry babywipes and a bottle of germ x to be constantly cleaning themselves to keep germs at bay. Soon as they get home, they brush t heir teeth and gargle to get rid of any germs that may have entered their system. Then I get them to get on their nebulizer machines and their vest(a vibrating vest that breaks up muccus in their lungs), which in return gets them to cough up anything they got in their lungs. If they notice that someone around them is sick, they will move away from them. I have asked them to be very vigilant about this cus they will end up in the hospital immediately. They usually do when they get the flu( which they don't get often cus I keep them on their feet lol), so imagine with the swine flu? I aint going to panic cus then that just gets the kids worried and then they panic lol. No need for that! I am keeping calm but vigilant. :)
Cheeky its a hit or miss thing. You can vaccinate because they have weak immune systems but understand that the side effects could be worse than the symptoms of the "swine" flu. These side affects could be lifelong too.You should consider all sides before you decide.
Cheekylilvixen feliz dia de dar gracias! ~ happy thanksgiving everyone! :)
They see their specialists on the 22nd of this month. We'll see what they all(7dr.'s) have to say about it. They constantly get medications that are still in the testing process but that have been tested enough to give a positive report. I trust them cus they have not failed me yet. So, we'll see ..
My daughter's school passed out slips this week asking permission for the school to order and administer the H1N1 vaccine to the children. I declined, of course. This will be left to a qualified physician. Does anybody have any recent news about the children, who were vaccinated in Oklahoma? Any bad news so far?
I'm getting a little suspicious of this swine flu scare. My friend's daughter started feeling bad at school last week and they called her mother to come pick her up. At that time she wasn't running a fever. The next morning she was running a little fever and her voice had become raspy. The mother took her to the doctor and she was diagnosed with swine flu. And up until now (from the parent's observation) her symptoms have been nothing more than a common cold. The doctor prescribed Tamiflu for the child and also prescribed it for the mother since it's only the two of them living in the house. I'm not a doctor but I'm wondering if some people are being misdiagnosed with this.

DarcyDoo is at my dad's for thanksgiving. i am ready to eat way too much!
There was a girl here where I live who was pregnant who just died of the swine flu. They took the baby, and were able to save the baby, but the mother died. It has been all over the news here. Are pregnant women more severely affected? I have a couple pregnant women who work with me who are freaking out now.

Pregnant women are the most vulnerable for some reason--from what I've heard. That's so sad. :(

The first american victim to die was from the RGV(Rio Grande Valley in Texas). She was pregnant and delivered a healthy babygirl, even tho she was in a coma from having the Swine Flu. She was from Harlingen,Tx, which is 30 min. from my parents home.

And my mind keeps going back to the resolution made by the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons and their fact sheet:

"Rampant conflicts of interest in the approval process has been the subject of several Congressional hearings, and a recent Congressional report concluded that the pharmaceutical industry has indeed exerted undue influence on mandatory vaccine legislation toward its own financial interests.

And this from the same list:
"The Centers for Disease Control admits that the reported number of adverse effects of vaccines is probably only 10% of actual adverse effects. "
