Also I would like to add.Can we have gold members with out are name being gold would be better. That way it will cut down a lot of drama. Nobody will know who paid or not and just sing. If you pay for extra feature great, but you don't really need to advertise it Thanks for listening..Lisa
Let blue members try it and see if they want to keep it or not..$7 verses $70 a year. maybe they will like it and join for a year.. more money for the website..

well i have had a store i had a bakery and if i gave away my donuts for 30 days to everyone who walked in i wouldnt have lasted 2 weeks . we did do a bakers dozen 13 donuts for the cost of twelve . maybe singsnap can offer a bakers dozen buy 12 memberships get the 13th free .

but if you offered something free. you would have more customers. Sam Walton made is business on discounting everything.. that was his marketing tragedy. my idea is might not work for your store. but it might work for this site website. singsnap has given away free memberships to the best karaoke site on the net . every blue member has been given access to unlimited singing to all the songs that were listed in the songlist every blue member has been given free access to there own page and anyone who has access to a computer can listen for free what more can singsnap do that they havnt already done? free cost someone somewhere something and singsnap has paid the cost to set this site up and maintain it . how many things would one expect for free till they paid for the extras ? sam walton didnt give away free sams club memberships he charged for them and people still buy thoses why ? so they can go to a warehouse type store and buy things at a discount . singsnap can be trevors sams club if you buy a gold membership you get to have all your songs in bulk big giant cases of karaoke songs yes thats it a trevors club membership . change the name from gold membership to trevors club karaoke package we could all have a photo of trevor by our name showing we are a member of the trevor club and we could also get hotel and car rental discounts with this club thing LOL
w_benjamin wrote:Ah, the operative word there is 'discounted', not 'gave away for free'. However, maybe the first month could be discounted..., say, to $5.00?
discounted for Walmart.. tragedy not for this website..

iif you give things away free, yes you will have more customers..for as long as its free...when its time to purchase theyll start moaning,,,tell ya what,,im going to scotland tomorrow morning......ill nip in the garage and ask them for free deisel....ill tell them if i like the product after a month, ill start buying my deisel at their garage......lets see how long i last on the forecourt...lol
Sorry, I don't buy that. (no pun intended). I believe giving everyone access to all the gold songs for a month would be a poor business decision. Lets use the WalMart/Sams club analogy here again. You can buy a day pass for Sams Club in order to try it out. Likewise, you can get a month pass here to try it out. It's $7.00. Now, it can't get much cheaper then that, but I wanted to be fair, so I suggested $5.00 for the first month. If people can't afford that, they're certainly not going to afford $70. They already know what features they would be getting, as well as the songs they could sing, they just don't have access to them, so there's no incentive to find out what a membership might get them..., they already know.
CrestenPixie wrote:What can it hurt to give a week free gold trial so that the blues can see if the features are worth the $$? Seems perfectly fair and might work!
even 7 days....that would work also... that's a good Idea.. I like that.. then if you like it pay for a month a year.. another Idea, pay for 6 months instead of 12 months.. like say for $37 a month.which discount will be $10 for the year.. See if you pay for a year you taking a big chunk of some peoples wallet and purses..$70 a year which is about $5.08.which give you a discount of $12 dollars a year. there is that word again .. discount..see..
Not that I agree with the idea of a 'free trial' but I do think the idea here is like at a store where they give you a free sample of the food and then you decide if you want to buy the whole package...so maybe what could be done in bits and pieces is like for one week let all members experience the keychanger...or for one week let all members create playlists..I remember something similar to this being done on paltalk..where they let all members go ad free and have the use of streaming videos..I wouldn't agree though with the total gold package being given as a free trial though...
Give some of it so they see what the experience is like and then want the whole thing.

not sure about where you are,but Sam Club here .I know here they give you a chance to go in there and check it out for free. anyways.. this isn't about Sams or Walmart.I was talking about a tragedy to get more people to come and go for the gold membership.

what about these other great feature they been talking about,//stereo.... change key to a song.. ect
ok the thing is, alot of people want these gold songs, right? So, if they get a week free, guess what they get to do? Record all the gold songs they want atleast 2 times each before the week is over. Then they are going to be ok, done. I don't need to be gold LOL. Then their are those who will download the backings to keep for themselves onto their computers. Don't tell me "thats against tou, they wouldn't do that!" LOL we all know better, otherwise the subject wouldn't come up as often as it does. It kills the incentive. Ya gotta have that "curiousity killed the cat" sorta thing going on. If they are curious and have the money, they will try it for a month.
If I were to give a free trial of it, I'd give it for an hour. It is just to test it and see if you like. A teaser ... That's what you get when someone is giving out food to taste. Ya walking around the mall, ya see a chik-fil-a kid with chicken nuggets on a toothpick. Ya taste, what a bite? and if you like it, you walk around and buy it! Same here, ya get an hour soon as you log on to SS and if you like what you see, you buy, pay for a membership. I think in an hour one can make such a decision. No? Another thing, if they were to do such a thing wether it be for an hour, a week or a month, they are gonna have to keep an eye on IP's to make sure people don't go using more than one name or making up another name after another, so that they can get free gold for as long as they can without being caught. So, it is a risky thing to do.
If they consider a free-trial, I think it should be a 3-day thing and exclude access to gold songs.
I understand the desire to perhaps test out the key-changer, play-list, Inner-Circle or up and coming stereo sound. That could be enticing. The songs however, would be a poor business move for obvious reasons I don't need to state.
But sure - all blue members can sign up for an Orange 3-day trail membership for limited access to selected gold features such as: InnerCircle, Pitch Changer, Status Message and Stereo Sound.

Yes I would agree with this..Access to Gold Only songs should not be part of any free trial.

the only way you get this free trail should be if you have a debit/credit card to use with a visa master card logo. and if they don't cancel within or before the 3 days or 7 days or even a 2 day trail is up ,they get charge the $7 dollars..for that month. I do not how to work out all the kinks....that's why I said suggestions.

Well their are ways around that too. They can make a new paypal account and may be the 1st time they used a debit card. If they also have a credit card, they can use that too and get another free trial. Heck, they can borrow their roommates, their relatives etc ... they just gotta make sure that as soon as their free trial kicks in, to go and cancel asap, this way they don't forget too and get charged the monthly fee. So, they still gotta watch IP's to make sure they aint making duplicate names under the same IP. People will find ways to cheat the system. Sadly but true.

Let's look at the cup half FULL, just for kicks! ;)
Do a 3-day trail, make a sign-up with PayPal mandatory (so you likely only get those interested - and at the very least, those capable/able to sign-up for paypal) and if a few people scam the system - so be it.
If the features are limited, making alternate accounts would almost be entirely pointless. If it includes the features I suggested: Multiple accounts wouldn't make much sense because your fans aren't going to follow a bunch of fake accounts around. They wouldn't hear your songs which would make the pitch changer, InnerCircle, Stereo redundant and no one would likely even SEE the status message.
IF (big if) there IS interest for a trail-period, to test the waters of the Gold Features, these collaborative ideas are certainly worth discussing and finding solutions.
What I gather here is trevor couldn't go make one of his video announcements and just say that for the next 72 hours these gold features will be made available to our blue membership for a free trial period and that if you like the features we would hope you convert your blue membership to gold. Most likely open all gold features accept the gold only tunes..
that's what my thought was( in my head), that Trevor just open it for 3 days. Not having to go through pay pal because some peeps prefer not to use it for security reasons and not everyone has a debit/credit card.
But yes, Ms. Novella, having limited acces to Gold stuff, would make that null and void but my comment about the IP's etc ..was made before your idea came about. So, after see'ing your idea, what I said about the duplicate acounts etc ..was out the window LOL.
Just wanted to say thanks for being on this thread. Thanks for not coming here not to bash my idea. Like some people on the internet would...I like your suggestions. . A Big Thanks Novella

First of all, they could let them use the songs and then just make them locked until they pay, then unlock them, but yeah, if the songs isn't enough to get you to sign up then having a short time access to them wouldn't do much to change their mind anyway so leave the gold songs out.
As for an hour...my luck I'd sign up for my free hour trial and the baby would cry and then where would I be? I think a week is not unreasonable, especially for VERY busy people like me. I can be on for 5 minutes, a baby will cry and then I might not get back on for a day or two because life happens, kids happen, phone calls happen, dinner happens...etc.

yeah that would happen to alot of people. some people only get to be on the computer for a hour a week.. so 3 maybe to short.I personally the 7 day idea would work.and give a person a chance to use it..
well here is my thoughts on the matter, I have been on here for a little over a week now, and just now was able to get to this thread, there is ALOT (ALOTTTTTTTTT) to learn when you first sign up, such as everything there is that is offered... The folders, the Language, (shortcuts, lingo etc.) not to mention the songs, and how to do those, and then you have camera options etc... thats alot to learn in itself, and I can tell you right now I still am learning every time I come on here (as a blue nic) so for (singsnap) to offer the gold account for an hour after you sign up, I believe to be unfair as if that was offered to me, I didn't know about it... it wasn't advertised to me that it was... so I missed it if it was :( But lets just ask this... remember when you a "gold" member first signed up and was a Blue nic urself, and never even visited to this site before,.. it was your first time, (No cheating saying it was your first time and really you had been here a month LOL) REALLY your FIRST TIME on here, and how much there was to learn, there is ALOT, I am just now finding these folders and still learning, what words such as *Bump* etc means, I feel like a newbie for asking what is *BUMP* but hey I am a newbie, and no dumb question is ever asked except for the one that you dont ask, because then you never get the answer lol.... so for as far as trying the GOLD account for the 7 days, I think would be great idea, however yes limit that the *Gold songs* are not available but they can see everything else there is to be offered, but like myself, don't limit that "Sample trial", be limited to when you first sign up, as I am still even learning whats available for me for a blue nic, might be more be advisable if you offered it to blue nics only after they have been on the site say for A month or a month and a half, then offer it, the *Sample trial* And that is what it is a sample for 7 days, also state that the sample trial will not receive any of the gold songs available but can access other areas of interest, and let them try for 7 days, and then if they use it for those 7 days, thats great. But the person will at least at that time know they have from that time of signing up for the "Sample trial" for the next 7 days. And then .. everything is back locked until they sign up for the *gold* account weather it be for the Monthly sign up fr $7.00 or the $70.00 for a year, Even though Myself I can-not afford the 70.00 at this time.... A little humor here..(hookin typewriter to telephone booth on corner to access singsnap to hehe..and my cardboard box house, with outhouse around corner of dumpster, but hey maybe someone will feel sorry for my box and be kind to access me to that gold account, maybe a couple months down the road... LOL, but for now, I am still learnin, I learn quick, as I read farely well, type really fast, not the best speller in the world, but hey this aint english class either lol,) but don't really want a gold nic at this time, but when i do i would like to be able to "sample" it before I buy it to see if I would like to buy it. :) Like the idea up there of having a sample at a store for a chicken mcnugget, then you go and buy it, same thing. And oh yes and from the other comment of someone saying Sam's doesn't offer "free memberships," no they don't, however they do offer ( I am a military brat and have been in a lot of different states) and they do offer in newspapers, and other clippings, a weeks or a few days free trial "sample" to enter the store, and to browse to see if they would really like to buy the membership, Sam's is NOT for everyone, you might not need to buy bulk, but there might be other offers that Sams offers that you might buy their membership, and *Gold might not be for everyone here, but how would they know if they can-not "sample" it, hince why most places do give out *Sample Trials* well that is just my thoughts... (ok steppin off box crate and going back into my box, and continue learnin hehehe LOL) Have fun and enjoy the humor and the thoughts

They already know what features they would be getting, as well as the songs they could sing, they just don't have access to them, so there's no incentive to find out what a membership might get them..., they already know.

even 7 days....that would work also... that's a good Idea..

I think the strategy they're using is just fine, although I do agree with Tas. Thats a good idea.

ok the thing is, alot of people want these gold songs, right?

Novella says it's on like donkey kong!!!If they consider a free-trial, I think it should be a 3-day thing and exclude access to gold songs.

Novella says it's on like donkey kong!!!Let's look at the cup half FULL, just for kicks!

:)

The folders, the Language, (shortcuts, lingo etc.) not to mention the songs, and how to do those, and then you have camera options etc... thats alot to learn in itself, and I can tell you right now I still am learning every time I come on here (as a blue nic) so for (singsnap) to offer the gold account for an hour after you sign up, I believe to be unfair as if that was offered to me, I didn't know about it... it wasn't advertised to me that it was... so I missed it if it was :(
But lets just ask this... remember when you a "gold" member first signed up and was a Blue nic urself, and never even visited to this site before,.. it was your first time, (No cheating saying it was your first time and really you had been here a month LOL) REALLY your FIRST TIME on here, and how much there was to learn, there is ALOT, I am just now finding these folders and still learning, what words such as *Bump* etc means, I feel like a newbie for asking what is *BUMP* but hey I am a newbie, and no dumb question is ever asked except for the one that you dont ask, because then you never get the answer lol.... so for as far as trying the GOLD account for the 7 days, I think would be great idea, however yes limit that the *Gold songs* are not available but they can see everything else there is to be offered, but like myself, don't limit that "Sample trial", be limited to when you first sign up, as I am still even learning whats available for me for a blue nic, might be more be advisable if you offered it to blue nics only after they have been on the site say for A month or a month and a half, then offer it, the *Sample trial* And that is what it is a sample for 7 days, also state that the sample trial will not receive any of the gold songs available but can access other areas of interest, and let them try for 7 days, and then if they use it for those 7 days, thats great. And oh yes and from the other comment of someone saying Sam's doesn't offer "free memberships," no they don't, however they do offer ( I am a military brat and have been in a lot of different states) and they do offer in newspapers, and other clippings, a weeks or a few days free trial "sample" to enter the store, and to browse to see if they would really like to buy the membership, Sam's is NOT for everyone, you might not need to buy bulk, but there might be other offers that Sams offers that you might buy their membership, and *Gold might not be for everyone here, but how would they know if they can-not "sample" it, hince why most places do give out *Sample Trials*
well that is just my thoughts...
(ok steppin off box crate and going back into my box, and continue learnin hehehe LOL)
Have fun and enjoy the humor and the thoughts
