If you are looking to have your vocals analyzed, and have a very honest (By honest I do not mean "mean" or impartial, but in a way that's designed to build you up, and not tear you down, or discourage you, but rather to encourage you with practical advice) opinion, with suggestions presented, this is the place.

My thoughts are there are many polite people in this world, who will conceal areas we can improve upon, by telling us they love us. But, thats okay, we need those types as well. Then you have the cut and dry types, who will tell you good or bad and let you figure how to fix it. They are honest barometers, who will tell you yes or no. Those are needed too at times, especially if you have thick skinned.

There are those who have a pedigree in music, or voice, and they feel led and qualified to comment. I think anyone can comment - because its all about what our ears tell us, and we all want to get better and improve. Sometimes, we worry more about being liked, even as a critic, that we might ease up on the level of honesty, or we could go the other way and appear cold and unfeeling.

This topic will do neither. If you want to know my qualifications, I am just like you, however I do know a bit about music, and pitch, and am a musician, and aspiring singer. I'm not perfect and like anyone else, I have my areas to be worked on. Its a journey not a destination, and there is joy in that journey.

Its about progression, not perfection. And last of all I'm here to help in any way I can, for those who have ears willing to hear.

Because my time is Limited, I will only do 10 at a time. Once those 10 are exhausted, I will open up the thread for another ten. Unfortunately I cannot take a waiting list, you will have to apply for your vocal critique when the OK is given. I am trying to avoid an unimaginable backlog, by only soliciting and reviewing 10 at any given time. I like you have a life and while I'd like to help anyone and everyone, that just is not practical.

I'm not going to do number scores, but I will give an honest evaluation of the song you submitted and your singing on it. In cases where disputes arise, I will defer to your opinion over my own as the final say, because I am just one man. I do think that you will find it enlightening, albeit brutally, yet softly honest, and fair. The reason for this is to help you along in your quest to become a better singer.

I will evaluate according to pitch, difficulty, tone, emotional content, and general interest, so that I can present you with a full overall picture of your performance.

So, to start this out, I ask that you have an open mind and have ears open ready to hear.

I am accepting 10 submissions to start with. I will get to them as quickly as possible. Please when submitting, give me a short 1 paragraph bio, to establish context, especially your related singing background or experience. Anyone is welcome to submit their song.

To start this off, just give a link, and your short bio. All entries will be responded to publically within this thread, and honestly, but with an eye on helping, not hurting. This is all in the interest of honestly improving ourselves and learning how we might be perceived sonically.

Looking at the pages here of others doing critiques, it looks like everyone is covered. Disregard this idea :)

Someone can close/delete this topic, thanks!
