Concertina's Rock/Alternative/Metal Contest ~ Round Two

Welcome to Round Two of the Rock/Alternative/Metal contest! Round One was fantastic! I heard a lot of emotion in your Brit Rock tunes! We now move onto something a little different. Sadly, if you did not submit a song for Round One, you have been disqualified. Again, there are NO eliminations otherwise.

Our second round's theme is:

In this theme you will be singing a song from the rock/alternative/metal genre that falls under the "ballad" category. What's a ballad you might ask? Well here is the definition as per Wikipedia:

In jazz and popular music, the term ballad denotes a short song in a slow tempo, usually with a romantic or sentimental text, though the term is also used for instrumental pieces. Ballad is also used in modern pop and folk music for a (usually faster) strophic narrative song, analogous to the older poetic term ballad.

So really what we are looking for is a slow-tempo tune. The more depressing it is, the better lol For some really bizarre reason, ballads tend to be my favorite things to sing. I think the disappearance of a few great contestants from last round has given me a case of the "melancholies" lol.

UPCOMING ROUND THEMES:

ROUND THREE:

Gender Bender Judges Pick! You will have a choice of ten bands/artists to choose from, all of which will be gender benders, hooray! (Bands will be listed when round starts)

ROUND FOUR:

Classic Rock/Alternative Metal! Sing a song that was originally released between 1960-1989.

ROUND FIVE:

"Days Of Our Archives" (Hey, I like it cheesy, that's how I roll) You will be split up into groups of three and assigned to a judge. You must look through your assigned judge's recordings and pick a song from there to sing. Again, must meet genre requirement. When in doubt, ASK!

BASIC RULES:

~ Pre-Records are allowed for ENTIRE contest but you may NOT submit the same song more than once for the duration of the contest.
~ All effects (Cam, Video, Widgets, MMSB, etc.) are allowed.
~ PLEASE listen to your fellow contestants whenever possible.
~ Drama will not be tolerated. I personally do not mind a little bit of drama, but out of respect for your fellow contestants, please take it elsewhere. We want this contest to be enjoyed by all participants. If you have a problem, please message me or a judge.
~ Deadlines are strictly enforced. You have an entire week to post your song, and you are allowed to use pre-records. So there is no excuse to not get your song in on time. We all have real life issues that happen from time to time, so if you have a genuine reason why you cannot submit your song, please let me know in PM and we will work it out. Otherwise, non-submission by deadline is grounds for disqualification.

SCORING

~ Vocal Clarity
~ Pitch
~ Emotion
~ Theme (how well your song fits in with the round's theme)

DEADLINE for this round is Sunday, July 12th, at 8:00PM EST (or SS time). If you don't submit a song by this time, you will be automatically disqualified. If we get ALL submissions early, the next round will start earlier. HAVE FUN!

Miles, you don't get the results from Round One =P I prefer not to post any standings in the thread as I do not want certain people to feel unmotivated to continue should their scores be significantly lower than others. I've seen it happen before, and therefore all scores are kept secret until the winners are revealed at the end.

If you would like to know your final scores at the end of this contest, I will be happy to give them to you or anyone else that would like them via private message. =)

I've never heard of it, but will listen to it when I get home. The band definitely is suitable, the song I have never heard before. Perhaps someone else who has heard it can let you know if they get here before I do with the answer. =)
