BLUE IS ON THE LOSING END

Because if everyone got gold for free , there would be no money to run the site at all...........it is pretty simple maths.

Well, if everyone got what gold got for free, why would anyone go gold? The site requires money to operate. If money was all that SingSnap thought about, I'm sure that there would be a lot LESS for blue than there is now.

SingSnap IS a great place to be, but at the same time, it is still a business and costs money to operate. Someone has to pay for those costs.

I am in the same boat as you...I am on a very limited income at the moment, and if it weren't for the generosity of a very good friend, I would not be gold either. BUT...I would NOT be expecting to receive goods and services for free. The songs, and the development of the recorder cost SingSnap money.

And honestly, I think it would be impossible to find a karaoke site that gives its non-paying members anywhere NEAR what SingSnap gives away for free.

Blue members *are* allowed unlimited use of lower-case type, last I checked. ALLCAPS SHOUTING is hard to read--gets annoying rather fast.

You have it backward: All of us were doing quite well with SingSnap until gold came along. SingSnap was losing money.

Is life "all about money"? No--but business pretty much is. Businesses that don't pay attention to it have a way of not remaining in business for long.

I understand the aggravation of long-time blue members who have watched their free status steadily erode, but it really does amaze me when ppl assert outright that SingSnap should operate as a charity--or characterize its attempt to turn a profit and pay the bills as "kicking us in the teeth".

I mean, would you make the same argument to your grocer?

this site was started out as a beta testing site . then it was free and alot of us came by invite we enjoyed the site tryed out and tested all of its neat record buttons made friends enjoyed all of its features . like anything in life free does have a cost .the freedom of america and other countrys to live free cost us something some gave there very lives for others to be free .

so when someone complains about something that is free its kind of makes me start hearing the star spangled banner being played in the background as i get up on the stage and give my free speech to what i think singsnap is when it comes to FREE blue memberships . ready ?

four score and two years ago singsnap gave every man women and 14 your old children free blue accounts everything here was free for everyone except the owners and investors of singsnap .

as time went on they added new features and the Gold membership was born well instead of Trevor being greedy and making everyone go gold or leave he allowed the blue nonpaying members to stay free .

using the site allowing anyone to still join free and even if your limited at 100 songs you still can roam listen post on the messageboards

and join contest and all this for free .

This site has always cost someone somewhere something to operate lic and staff and all . so in order to be free there is someone somewhere paying for the free accounts
id like to take this time to thank trevor for all those months i got to use this site for FREE and thank you trevor for allowing even this free blue member to have a say .
i disaggree with the part about this site just being about money if that truly was the case trevor would have made it an all paying site and there would be less here then what there is for free .

go shop around you wont find a free site with the amount of songs or the free features like they have here .

no one is forced to be gold and look at the sponcer feature they truly try so hard to make it work for everyone .

The fact is Trevor gave way too much for way too long for free to everyone and now people are biting the hand that feeds them, which kinda disgusts me.
The fact is I understand some cannot afford to go gold, I sponsor two people myself and I will say right now, I sponsor them because the were grateful for what they had as a blue member, sorry but you would not find me sponsoring the OP.

Wonderfully put Dan... I understand how she feels but SS does need money to function.... I got my gold membership cause of a very sweet person paid for it...
I understand the need to vent so vent away hon...I don't believe in kicking one in the teeth cause that can't afford the gold membership....
I will be going back to gold unless I can come up with the money and social security isn't much ..... But I love this site inspite of the cost of it and will be gold again..eventually...

money = a website

No money = No WEBSITE

so would you prefer to keep the site for free with only 100 songs to record( delete and be able to record 100 more)
or everyone get everything for free and within or less than a month, the website goes belly up and NO moRE SINGNSAP?

PS, I understand your predicament. I am paying for Gold on a monthly basis at the moment cus I don't know if next month I can pay for it again. If I can't then I can't but I know that I can still come here for free no matter what.

Expanded catalog of song choices. Nope Blue. Yep. Pay for it.
Gadgets on the recorder. Nope Blue. Yep. Pay for it.
Inner Circle creation ability. Nope Blue. Yep. Pay for it.

Meeting friends and making friends. Yep. Blue. Yep. PRICELESS.

Frustrating as it is if someone feels they cannot afford the $12/month for a gold membership, others have stated and I echo, Snap does need revenue to be able to keep providing ANY service for our enjoyment. I also am unsure from month to month if I will be able to continue to be gold. However, like others said, if I do go blue, I will STILL have the ability to interact with folks on the site and THAT is the priceless part to me. If we were required to pay for what that is worth, I KNOW I couldn't afford it.

Blue Members are getting new songs now and sort after songs at that.
You can find the ones available to Blue Members before you can find the ones exclusive for Gold :)

You can also sort them by Genre.
You can recognise them because they do not have Gold next to them.

Blue members still have a vast amount of songs available to them to sing.
When the site was free nobody had MMSB or Pitch changer, or inner circle creation so in that respect if anybody likes the old way, the Blue Members still do have the old way. They get New songs and they can still sing all those songs, they just have a limited storage of 100 Recordings for those songs.

There is absolutely nothing stopping them from singing and creating videos as usual.

I think in life it is important to remember that nothing is free (besides obvious things) somebody else somewhere is paying for it, if the next door neighbour in the same street has a better front door than you, to make their house look better, but you are in the same street.. it's cos they had to pay for that. There are blue members that have far better equipment than a lot of Gold members and beautiful homes showing in their videos, sometimes it's a matter of different priorities and spending habits and choices in life and not to be established all the time as who can afford and who can't.

i know where you are coming from as i have just finished a month of gold membership i won in the monthly draw (thanks again ss ) going back to blue really sux big time , but unless someone sponsors me or i pay for gold then all i can say is i grin and bear it , thanks again ss for a really great site

So yes of course they are in it for money. What business isn't ? Not many clothing stores are going to open up and then just give away their wares because not everyone can afford to shop there.

I think I am on the losing end too becuse no one has yet sponsered me to go on an all inclusive carribean cruise..and I cannot afford it so it so unfair :(
