AngelMuse just download a free mp3 recorder and set it up at the bit rate you want preferrably the higher the better and hit record and then press play on your songs. record them and then do as you like with them ps this is not condoned or authorized by me lol as it is illegal!!

I got my email from them to say the same, and how nice of them to give us all that notice? HEHE.

still the name KSUCKO that people gave them really suited that site big time, their customer service stank like 10 week old rotten fish with eggs and stink bomb sauce! lol

I would wonder if the sister site (UK ONLY) Xfactor Challenge is closing down also? customer service SUCKED there too.

Here's the maths, If there s total of 50,000 fee paying members around the world and there are two sites that take membership subscriptions, and we split them 50/50. So at 25,000 members @ $40usd (average) = $1,000,000 per year in revenue, add another $5,000 per month of advertising space ( the ads here are unsavoury to say the least, but income is income ), total of $1,060,000 p.a. income.

Add to that royalties on the number of songs, if there are 10,000 songs, and each one gets played three times per month (on average) ...30,000 hits @5c per song royalty = $150,000 in royalty expenses per month. Hence, $1,800,000 per year in expenses. Plus staffing, IT costs and rent... total costs $2,060,000 p.a

$1 MILLION LOSS per YEAR per company !!! for two sites to exist... hmmm.. the economics of it does not warrant the existence of any of these karaoke sites without membership of at least $150 per annum.

The choices for existence;

1) Reduce the number of songs
2) Increase membership fee
3) Increase advertising revenue
4) Reduce functionality, to reduce staff maintenance
5) Buy out rival sites
6) Seek merger with larger organisation for capital

Remember, dot.com businesses survived because people visted the site, generating advertising leads, not because they were sustainable cash flow postive businesses. Don't be so dependent on these sites to survive for more than three years. The shareholders and Wall St capitalists only allow these "START UPS" three years to show profit. Then the axe falls !!!

If you want these sites to run PROPOERLY for a LONG TIMe for the BENeFIT of MEMBERS and NOBODY ELSE, THEN YOU HAVE TO CREAT A MUTUAL BUSINESS STRUCTURE WERE MEMBERS BUY UNITS INTO A TRUST AND THE MEMBERS OWN THE SITE ...like a singers co-operative !!!

Conclusion:

So be glad that you can still sing here for FREE !!!!!!!!

Here's my conspiracy prediction for you. Given the recording difficulties built into Vista and the Lic issue, i suspect all karaoke sites will be driven out of business within the not too distant future, only to be replaced by a Microsoft run karaoke for windows. Who else is big enough to afford the legal team necessary to cut through the music company red tape?

Does what Trevor says really matter in the end? Unless he's spewing out money with every word, probably not.

Anyway this probably applies to the original ksolo site only, and not to the new Myspace site.

This makes sense. Ksolo being bought out by Myspace creates two different subscriptions for the same service. So, why keep both sites? Myspace will be kept, I believe.

BTW, I don't think there are presently 50,000 paying subscribers throughout the world.

For those concerned about Singsnap's ability to survive the cut and thrust of the dot.com world, well, I suggest we ALL TAKE UP GOLD MEMBERSHIP and SPONSOR someone (but ask them first for their permission). Eventually, SingSnap should sell equity to the gold members and mutualise the site, then list on Wall St.

Nice idea, apart from the site doesnt work for many since vista. Not paying when the basic service doesnt work. Happy to subscribe when i can record, but not paying for nothing.

What recording difficulties are you speaking of? I run Vista and have had no problems.

I run vista and have great sound after tweeking it. Now if I can learn to carry a note lol.

The problem I notice with Sing Snap lately is how slow it has become. I have a new quad processor in the new puter with Vista and downloading speeds of up to 10 gigs and many songs with video just lag out and I have to pause to load them.

To the person who talked about advertising. The banners are 'click pay' banners. I ran a site and did not find any companies that paid to have their' banner on a site. They paid "per click". Something between a penny and 10 cents depending on how many hits your site was getting.

Well, I just had a look again at some of the discussions and I am glad we can still sing here on Singsnap... SIms on Stage is closing their doors too !!!

WE have to PAY to keep this site running, there's no plan B !!!

I've been GOLD for almost a year and sponsored one person. I wish everyone else would do the same to keep this site running as well as it has been.

There's more songs now !!!
