Yesterday I heard a sax rendition overlaid onto 'Superstar'. As you know I dont post up 'go and listen' stuff normally but if you are in the mood..

It is for this reason that I remain hooked on Singsnap.

The player concerned has no idea I have posted this and I only do so because it highlights the frustration I feel. We have this talent ..here...among our ranks. It's incredible and we should be able to find it not by accident but by a better system.

I agree.

There are some phenomenal talents on this site
and many of them get buried.
No point in going into the voting system
and the quality of some of the stuff that gets voted into the HoF.

I'm thinking that there is a place for that too.
It could be called most popular recordings
which does not imply anything about quality.

And then some other system
for the folk who have created fantastic music or video.
It seems that it must all come down to either voting
or judging (as in contestsf)
and that is a whole other can of worms isn't it?

So I don't have any good ideas
for how it could be done
to satisfy those who are happy with the HoF as is
and those who want something more 'real' ;-)

It would be great if folks had some really concrete ideas
of how this could be done.
This thread would be a great place
to compile all the good ideas
and then submit them to Trevor and staff
as a group of ideas for them to consider.

(as opposed to a thread of folks arguing
about whether the HoF is good as is, or not)

Just a thought.

Anyway
I'm hoping there are some good ideas for change
since I am at a loss myself as to how it could be done.

I think someone mentioned quite sometime ago that perhaps putting all HOF songs into categories, i.e. Rock&Roll..Blues, Hip Hop, Country, Christian...whatever! But I am sure it would take some time doing this..but it would help to find the things you are interested in. There's talent in all.

yes i aggree i have yet to see anyone come up with a better way then allowing gold members choose who is on the hof . yes there is undiscovered and unlistened too talent but we have contest challenges and features to put our songs on display if thats what we want to do .

noone will ever be satsified and i dont believe the gold members want there right to vote how they feel taken away either .

as i have pointed out before if you set up a panel of judges to choose the hof who gets to be the judges ?

and how do they listen to everyone all the way thru and pick who is best and with what do they judge that on as well ?

if a person submits the best song they think they have heard just like the above song was posted isnt that still spamming for votes and listens which i have seen people state they hate that ? or is it only rules for some but not for people who think they have good taste in judging a persons song .

i put up a song on a thread and it was deleted as i didnt have permission to post someone else song they said that was against tos ??

no matter what people try and force singsnap to do .if it isnt able to be done right then i dont see singsnap doing anything differant then whats in place .

per did take away the blue members right to vote in the hof to please those that are down on the hof .
but they still are not satsified any new changes im afraid will still not satisfy them unless per just changes the name or put that small group in charge of picking the professionals they wish to see there .

you may bash me for my view but as long as i keep seeing post after post day after day about why folks hate and put down the hof i will respond with my thoughts as well thats what singsnap message threads are about not only one view but anyones view . and this again is my view in responce to yet another thread about how awful the hof is

Concertina's song has the perfect message. I would love to see it take over the #1 spot, because I think more people would see it. Besides that, her accent is too darn funny!!! :)

It could send a message But only if people read her comments.. Now I clicked on it.. I saw the pic of the dog.. Then she began to sing.. Now I never heard her sing other than this song..

My first reaction as has been many times to people in the HOF is Are they for real? LOL

Even in spot one unless people read her statement on what she believes should be in the HOF it is a lousy song and actaully sounds like she is making fun of rednecks or something LOL.. No offense to Concertina.. I am making a point..

The only solution is for SS to change the HOF and how it works and who gets in .. And who doesn't and then maybe we will hear someone who blows us away .. Or not even needed to blow us away voice wise.. But truely entertains. Us.. So tired of my ears bleeding. I own stock in a gauze company ;))

oh - i don't really see this deal as having much to do with free speech and civilization as we know it.

it's more - all about who likes the HOF and who has their feelings hurt because there are lesser' singers in it, and so on and so on.

and despite my proclaimed indiference to both sides, why do I keep getting into the disagreements?

Concertinas post worries me more than any other. She didnt spam her recording. She didnt even like it or sing it properly and yet because it was about a sick doggy it has reached page 3 of the the hof lol.

I mean..I realise what the problem is now! It isnt spamming, it's us! We are to blame! We, the singsnap community, warts and all have voted it up there of our own free will.

I am now absolutely convinced that I have been in a human hibernation project and have woken up in the year 2505.

Time to do away with all Top recordings, HOF sections..Spotlight sections etc. If singsnap is truly supposed to be a place where we come to have fun singing, having these places where it gives the impression that those who are there are better than others does not fit in with what singsnap is all about. As long as you have that type of area on the site people will do everything short of selling their first born to get there..THAT IS JUST HUMAN NATURE

Most HOF people not all.. Are not worthy IMO to be there and use their friends to spam themself in.

The system is not working.. It can only be changed by taking it off of SS. Or SS coming up with an alternative to how one gets in there .. :)

It takes intelligence to change things, though that will not necessarily be rewarding monetarily.

I will be honest here....I am an overachiever..It is a huge fault of mine. I was the kid in school who wasn't satisified with an A- because I knew that an A+ was the top grade. So yes since that HOF was installed my goal with EVERY song I sang was to get there..Is it right no, but it goes with the overachiever in me. Now the question is deep in my soul I know I'm not a great singer and if its based on that I have no business being there, but would hope that my witty entertainment value would count for something...and NO I would not sell my first born for the HOF.
