Awww thank you!

Not sure yet what I'm gonna sing. Am considering doing Shout by Lulu or possibly Big Mistake by Natalie Imbruglia.. I'll have to see how I feel on the day and how my voice is.. One things for sure, it's gonna be a loooong day!!

Nope .... It's just a glory hole for Simon and his croonies. The whole concept is damaging for the artists.

You don't need programmes like X Factor to build yourself a career in the music industry.

Link to your profile on here or get yourself a music myspace and upload your songs.

Then promote, promote promote.

Speak to your local small record labels. We have a dance label here in Bristol who have taken demos for new singers.

I'm sorry to sound harsh but the X Factor is just made for the enjoyment of the viewer at the contestants expense. It's paint by numbers music.

It's like Idol here..I made it through one row of judges, but not the second set..so sad..

Yet, I'm not sure I'd want to be all commercialized anyway.

Good luck those who are going--I'd love to see you become stars!

100,000+ applicants...12 finalists...nearly everyone will be disappointed, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth a shot...just don't assume that if you enter you'll make the live shows...& keep pursuing the dream any other way you can too :)

I have friend who went to auditions -- came home feeling the whole thing was a waste of time and that they were mainly looking for weird /novelty stuff

It's not in one day though Katie.

If you make it through the first set of judges, you're asked to come back another day, and you have to wear exactly the same clothes, have your hair the same etc, for continuity on the cameras...then again if you make it as far as the 3 big 'uns

Thanx hun, I checked earlier on their site and all I saw was "if you have applied for this series, you would have recieved a letter by the end of april" but I know last year it was June the seventh, asking me to audition on JUNE THE 9TH! I couldn't go, I can't drive and that was nowhere NEAR enough time to arrange transport! LOL

Such a pain isn't it when they don't take into consideration that not everyone drives or may live miles away from a venue to adequately get themselves organised at short notice.

I know for Cardiff we have to be there for 8am, which is ok for the locals. but quite an inconvenience for those of us who live further afield and for people like myself who can't drive.... The trains are not good on Sundays, so I've had to plead with my mate to drive me up there.. Luckily he's a good sport and didn't mind.... :-)

My dad's on alert this year to drive me down there, I'm in northampton which is 80miles from London, but he'd be bloody embarrassed to not know his way there when he was born and raised in kilburn brent! LOL I'm glad you have someone to drive you hun, I don't see why they have to have them in cities, I've got another audition (I'm a busy bee!) and thats in stevenage.

Good luck everyone who is trying out for it, i was in england last year for a bit and i thought the x factor was the greatest, for one you don't have to be a younger singer just to try out for it, like we do here in the canadian idol or the american idol, and that sucks...

Really? They have an age limit on Canadian/American Idol? THAT SUCKS! Anyone can apply for the Xfactor, as long as they are over 14 years (under 16 parental consent needed obviously!)

I'll be in my usual hat (a green trilby) so say hello if you spot me.

Interesting postings above - sure, it's a billion to 1 shot but hey, you never know!

I went 2 years ago, sang my socks off, was asked to sing again and then they said no. The guy after me had a chicken suit on and came out waving an acceptance form. It's a crap shoot - maybe you'll get lucky. Or dress freaky for the fun of it.

I know that they put through bad acts for "entertainment purposes" and there-fore they let good acts go to do so. I think it's wrong, the entertainment should be in the competition and the lives and backgrounds of those who compete, not in the verbal butchering of people who cannot sing, If the selection process was as described above, we truly would get the best of the best, not just the best of a bad bunch. I don't like where the series is heading I have to say, it started as a serious chance at stardom for those with out lots of money/musical training behind them, then it became sob stories rather than talent, then it was a few people without training and a few with thousands of pounds worth of musical and/or drama training, and last year it was both! There was one girl in the whole of the live shows who wasn't either an ex-pop star, or highly trained. As my mum said, it's turning into a competition for the judges to win, which means they're gonna pick people who've been trained (not nervous, can dance whilst singing without losing vocal control etc) so that "they" win

I'm not talented enough, and I'm too lardy. I'd dread the comparisons with Michelle McManus. Seriously though, I'm not sure I would want to be part of the industry, even if I did have what it takes. I'm too bloody minded to let anyone tell me what to do :D

Good luck to those who are though :)

I'm chubby too, but I'm still going! If the industry thought in the 50's/60's what they think now, we'd never have had aretha franklin, barry white, luther vandross or gloria gaynor.

Ida-Fina has but two days left of her holiday :(((((((((((((((

We don't have X Factor here (they don't even show the British one on television :((( ) but we do have Swedish Idol... I've been thinking about perhaps go stand in that line just for the heck of it (we have auditions in my home town), and to see if I survive an audition without fainting... but I never got around to doing it... I think it has to do with the fact that
1. I honestly don't think I'm what they want, I'm not talented enough and I'm definetly NOT Sweden's next Idol lmao
2. I'm getting too old (they don't have an age limit but if you're over 30-35 they want you to be SPECTACULAR to put you through and as I wrote under 1... ^^^^ ;)
3. I'd love to sing more in public but I don't want to be a full time media hyped singer having to travel on tours and being watched everywhere... fame costs ;) I'm perfectly happy being your average girl/mom next door who perhaps sings at your wedding or at your company's kick off or in the Scandinavian Barbershop Championships lolol

HOWEVER - I applaud everyone who has the dream and the drive and who dare persue that dream :)) If you have the will and the talent and the luck you may well be the next star :)))
I KNOW you all have the will and the talent - and I keep all my fingers crossed you'll get the luck too!!
:D
Go get them guys!!!
:)))))))

lol... no I can't say I have (if you're asking me?)
My choir has one, or rather is linked to an event coordinating bureau through which we get quite a few full choir- as well as quartet-gigs... but personally, no... So far I mostly sang at weddings and birthday parties... I get the feeling pubs and clubs prefer it if you play an instrument too and I don't think my Cello would cut it lmao ;)
I do have a small dream though, to get in touch with a small ensamble, jazz- perhaps... who needs a lead singer... but I think that'll have to wait until the kids are a bit bigger or their dad works a little less ;) Until then I keep singing in choir and on here and on those rare occations people want me to entertain them at private parties lol

:)))

But who knows - a lot can happen in the future!!! Ain't that grand?!? :D
