Straight Up Vocal Critique-CHAT!

Greeting friends, old and new!

My thread, Straight Up Vocal Critique, has done so well, that I’ve decided to start the same idea, in a chat room. Some of the details are still in the works, but being a Gold member, I am allowed the privilege of a private chatroom, and want to take advantage of my membership. Think of it as tech support for the vocally challenged.

The general plan will be to have my chatroom open for critique for an hour in the evening, for perhaps two or three nights a week. I’m going to shoot for 9pm-10pm SS (Central Time) this Monday night (July 13) depending on the response I get, and how interested you all are.

As it is a private chat room, I will need your permission to add you to the VIP list. I don’t expect you to commit to being there on Monday night (in fact everyone at once would be overwhelming), but just say that you want to be added to the list, and I will do so, so you can stop by in the future.

Once you are on the list, you will see my chatroom in the chat list area, and you can enter at the specified time.

To keep things from getting out of hand, here are the general guidelines:

MAKE CERTAIN YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE SS CHATROOMS FIRST. There are some instructions and an instructional video to watch in regards to the chatrooms here, and there is also an ongoing chatroom and tech support that you can access at any time. Most everyone is very friendly and helpful.

When you enter the chatroom, you can have me critique a pre-recorded song of yours, or do one live. To make time for as many people in an hour’s time, I’m asking you to keep the song to 3 and a half minutes or less. Make sure your song is loaded and ready to go. I’d also be willing to answer a music-related question or concern, as long as it’s simple. Keep in mind that I’m not a professional, nor a music major, just a person that has patience and a good ear.

Remember, I will be listening live during the song, so be sure you have “docked” me and I will do the same for you. Other members in the chatroom during that time will have the option to dock both of us until their turn comes.

I can’t think of much else right now, but feel free to add your comment and suggestions, and we’ll go from there.

If I can get at least 25 people interested in being put on the VIP list, then Monday night is on! If not, then we'll go from there...

Okay, so this didn't exactly take off, but maybe people just need more time to get used to the idea. There isn't much point in having the chat tonight, unless you guys get several of your friends on the list this afternoon.
The next day I will shoot for is Thursday night, July 16, at 9-10pm SS time.

I'm thinking that it will be very popular, just needs time. But I've made up my mind that Thursday night is on, regardless of how many people I get on the VIP list.

Well, this thread is still pretty quiet. However, tomorrow night is still on! I will be in the private chatroom for critique from 9-10pm SS time (Eastern time.)

Please review the chatroom formula so you are familiar with it before you enter! Have your SS backing track loaded, or your pre-record ready to go. I would prefer you do a live recording, but you can use a pre-record if you're too nervous. You can use a webcam or not. I will have mine on.

EST is SS time. I was in my chatroom last night as planned, and while it wasn't what I'd call a booming success, it was still a lot of fun.
Chatroom formula is just being familiar with the chatrooms here and how they work. There is a video you can watch about this, as well as instructions. It's pretty cinchy stuff, but run through it anyway.
You can do a pre-record if that makes you feel more at ease, and webcam is not required- but I prefer to use mine.
I guess that means you want to be on the list?

Sorry that the time for chat wasn't convienient for everyone, but I still had a few people show up, and it was a fun time.
Thursday night seemed to work well for me, so I plan to do the same thing this following Thursday. 9-10pm SS (EST).

Let me know if you wanted to be added to the list. If you are a fan or a favorite, you will be added automatically.

For some reason, I've had several people PM about this thread, instead of just posting here.. Thursday night is on, at 9-10pm EST. (SS time) Please, bring a song to critique. I love talking to you guys, but it's about critique. Be prepared with a song, or a music-related question, not just hanging out.

So, tonight is definitely on, 9-10p SS time. Thread looking pretty quiet, but it'll be fun anyway. Please have your song loaded and ready to go, whether you do a pre-record, or live. Also, it occured to me that some people want some privacy in regards to the critique. If you request, I will "whisper" your critique to you, if you prefer. For those not familiar with "whispering" it is simply sending you a chat message that only you can read.

This thread has been way too quiet. I was expecting more of a turnout, but maybe the time is bad for everyone. I would still like the build the list to at least 25, however. If you are interested, let me know.

It's good to see that this thread hasn't completely died, LOL. I don't have any day set for another chat night- I haven't been able to get enough people interested in the idea. It's still a possibility, though.
