DEAR ABBY: My letter to you is the first time I have shared
my problem with anyone. When I met and married my husband of
30 years, we each had been divorced for more than 10 years.
He had adult children with families of their own; I had none.

For several years I acknowledged their special occasions with
cards and small gifts, never receiving any notice or thank
you unless I had my husband ask if they had been received. I
finally stopped.

Although they always celebrate their father's special days,
I have yet to be remembered on mine. They send any special
news or pictures addressed only to my husband.

I recognize I cannot change the situation, but my question is
how do I manage my growing resentment toward not only his
family but my husband as well? As you can guess, we are eld-
erly. I don't want to spend my last years feeling this bitter-
ness.

DEAR WANTS: Obviously your husband's children never really
accepted you as part of their father's life -- and he didn't
rock the boat. It's a shame that you waited 30 years to say
what's on your mind. If you hadn't, your husband might have
stood up and insisted that "the kids" show you some respect
and courtesy.

Bitterness is a waste of time. If your marriage has been a
happy one, dwell on that instead of nursing resentment.

DEAR ABBY: My husband and I have tried four times to have a
baby. Because fertility medications cost around $5,000 here
in Canada, we have depleted all of our savings and down pay-
ment for a home.

We are contemplating holding a fundraiser to offset the costs
for a fifth try. Your thoughts, please.

DEAR CONTEMPLATING: My heart goes out to you, but my gut
reaction is negative. If you needed donations for treatment
for a life-threatening condition, I might feel differently.
I encourage you to explore other options available to you
-- including adoption.

You Be The Judge Are They The Same?...

American Idol champ Kelly Clarkson has plenty to say about
one of her songs that she thinks sounds too much like one
of fellow diva Beyoncé's songs. Clarkson is accusing
OneRepublic singer, and her frequent collaborator, Ryan Tedder
of recycling the music he used for Beyonce's ballad Halo for
Clarkson's song Already Gone.

Tedder denies the allegation, but Clarkson isn't having any
of it. She says, "No one's gonna be sittin' at home, thinking,
'Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyoncé and Kelly the same track to
write to.' No, they're just gonna be saying I ripped
someone off."

Whitney To Take Over Michael's Tour Dates?...

Whitney Houston is reportedly set to seal her eagerly-awaited
comeback with a string of concerts in London - filling in the
dates left empty at the O2 arena by Michael Jackson's death.

Michael was due to perform 50 shows at the venue, kicking off
earlier this month and spanning into next year.

His death from a cardiac arrest last month left a string of
empty dates at the arena, with bosses at promoters AEG Live
facing a race against time to fill the slots.

Whitney, who next month releases her first album in seven years,
is being touted as a potential contender to take on some of the
23 dates Jackson had scheduled for early next year.

British singer Robbie Williams (who I absolutely love) is also
being lined up to fill the dates left empty by Michael's death.

Lindsay Lohan Wants To Play Monroe In Some Like It Hot Remake...

Lindsay Lohan is desperate to take her obsession with Marilyn Monroe
to the big screen and star in a remake of movie classic 'Some Like
It Hot.'

The actress has posed for two Monroe-themed photoshoots, in Spanish
Vogue and New York magazine, and famously has a quote from 'Some
Like it Hot' tattooed on her wrist.

Sources close to Lindsay claims she sees real parallels between her
life and that of the tragic star and is pitching a remake to
Hollywood bosses.

Word is director Brett Ratner has already rejected the idea, but
Lindsay isn't giving up. A source says, "Lindsay is pinning her
hopes on getting a remake of Some Like It Hot off the ground.

"She's undaunted, but there's no script and there's no money. The
only thing Lindsay has to sell is herself.

"She sees herself as the second coming of Marilyn Monroe - misunder-
stood, talented and in desperate need of an incredible film vehicle
that will truly showcase her talents."

Michael Cera Breaks Up With Girlfriend...

Michael Cera has split with his longterm singer/actress girl-
friend Charlyne Yi, according to reports.

The pair has been together for three years, but sources claim
Cera's head has been turned by the attention of other ladies since
his career kicked off, thanks to roles in Juno, Nick and Norah's
Infinite Playlist and Superbad - and he wants to date around.

A friend tells Star magazine, "He's been with her since before
he was superfamous, and now all these girls fawn over him.
He's itching to date other people."

Yi is said to be heartbroken and the break-up comes just as
the pair begin a promotional tour for their new movie,
mockumentary Paper Heart.

The source adds, "Charlyne is beyond sad. And the break-up is
so much harder because she'll have to see him on tour."

It's Val Kilmer... Word is Val is being sought after by the IRS.
in a request for the federal taxes was filed on July 15th in
New Jersey - despite Kilmer, who hails from Los Angeles, living
in New Mexico for the last 20 years.
