thank you for choosing me for a feature page it should be an Honor EXCEPT what it is truly doing is getting people to go rate me on songs I sang previously where were they when I sang them WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE GOING AROUND doing this .....

WHO ASKED YOU TO GO RATE ME DAYS OR MONTHS AFTER I SANG......... did I enter a CONTEST for you to JUDGE my singing?

I think if singsnap will not remove the RATING on a feature page and JUST leave the FEATURE PAGE for an ATTRACtion of the PROGRAM then at least let it RECORD the nics that rate then we will see who thinks twice about rating

?? Mira, if you have ratings turned on, people WILL rate you. That's why they're there.

Who are these people? **raises hand*** I've never heard you sing, but I rate everyone I listen to. I'm guessing "these people" are others like me who see a ratings box and use it.

As for judging you singing, if you put a song public online for people to listen to, then there will be some judging. Never post on youtube if you're sensitive. People here are very nice. Youtubers thrive on cutting people to shreads.

Monique I am not in the mood to get into this discussion again about the rating.......
my point here today READ IT THIS IS DELIBERATE YET AGAIN people should learn how to RESPECT people not go around distroyed stuff.....

these ratings are going down not because I am a fan of the few who wanna listen to me ......

instead of concentrating on what I am saying at knocking me down why dont you put your energy in finding out what is going on analyze the situation and give people a peace of mind......

not because i bring something forward that is DISRUPTIVE that you have to answer me like I did something wrong....

GO FIGURE OUT THE REAL PROBLEM.........

IF IT WAS my PROGRAM I WOULD TELL YOU WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE .......ask the PROGRAMER......

I APPOLOGIZE BUT I AM REALLY UPSET HERE .......

THE CERTAIN FEW GOING AROUND POURING GAZOLINE ON PEOPLES HEADS AND THEN POLISHING THE FINGERNAILS OF well no comment.......

ps what is youtube ........ I was talking about SINGSNAP

MiraBella,
There has been unrest, aggravation and plain ol' upset at peeps called rater haters since I have been at Snap. What Monique was saying was if you have your ratings turned on, there IS the risk you will get downrated. It does not matter if you deserve it or not. In fact, it doesn't matter what one does regarding ratings. If they are turned on, peeps can and will rate. Sadly, there are some childish folks that will go around rating less than a 5 for no other reason than to drop a person's song rating.

Perhaps you can enjoy being highlighted and not get too hung up on folks that are the equivalent of a wet blanket. Yes. It can feel really crappy to get rated poorly for no other reason that some form of meanness. That is why I turned my ratings off. The silly lil orange stars don't mean anything. Peeps had them out like candy and IF someone happens to get less than a 5 star rating, it stings.

Congrats on being featured.

what she says holds very true.
i agree with what she is saying, and staff knows why.
i will not become a part of this discussion further.
i will just say that yes, she is most likely be downrated out of spite and jealousy from members that do not like her - for whatever reason they hold - and her ratings are indeed going down due to this very reason.

it happened to me for being in the feature box. now i don't care about my ratings - i've left my 1's and 2's up for yall to see. but - when it's out of spite - that's just wrong and the staff knows it and the staff SHOULD find a way to curb it.

I do and am Enjoying the highlight and ty to singsnap ....

I appologize if I am the type of person who see's a way to save people...... protect them... let them feel happy....omit the possibility of damage

trust me has nothing to do with me cause I would turn them off....

I am leaving them on to show you and the program that there is deliberate people going around backtracking to downgrate and that is wrong and if the PROGRAM could do SOMETHING about it why not .....

yes yes its easy to say well turn it off TAKE A SURVERY to why people turn them off ...... BOILS DOWN TO they dont want to be judged on the feature page......

I would never comment on a rate given to anyone in a place of challenge ......

x0x0x ty for listening and trully appologize if I am a little angry ...

The powers that be know that people get down rated here Mira, and they choose not to intervene in most cases, it seems. Sorry that people have been abusive to you. I just almost always choose to turn my ratings off. They really do mean absolutely nothing in the realm of my life, so why bother to open the door to some boneheads downrating me? Congrats on being the guest director today. :) Just enjoy all of the people who are choosing to support your choice of feature songs! :) Have a fun and great day!

Just wanted to say sorry that your songs have been down rated for whatever reason.

As of now I rate every song I open a 5. If I really enjoy listening to their song I will comment as well. I understand that by me rating everyone a 5 that kind of defeats the purpose of having the ratings but I know someone who is truly honest will come along and rate it whatever they think it deserves. I can appreciate someone's honesty. However IF we knew that each person would be able to see when or what we rated then we would feel more so obligated to always give a 5 just so there would be no hard feelings. Sorry I just don't see that as being a good thing. Personally I feel that it could cause more conflict than good between some members.

I'm not sure we could do anything even if we wanted to... if someone gives you a "4" that is their (personal and subjective) opinion of your recording. We have no way of knowing if it is their honest opinion or if they gave you a "4" for another reason.

Maybe we can invest in a lie detector test or something ;)

OKAY. I CAN'T KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT TO SAVE MY LIFE - BUT....
(oops - looks up - I'm at work and need all caps on at work - sorry....)

anyway -

we have a rating system in place.
people abuse us (some members)
or ALL members get abused at one time or another for whatever reason or another.
it's wrong.
staff does NOT always look the other way.
that statement is not exactly true.
staff does a wonderful job of intervening.
can anyone else here control 20,000 pre-school kids?

anyway.......

a rating system is in place.

why should we have to turn off our ratings on our songs? why?
to stop the abuse we/she/some receive???

staff should let us see who rates us.

bottom line.

Just a friendly observation... cuz I'm a friendly type guy... but you know that the more you whine about it, the more it's going to annoy people? And annoyed people are not going to give you a good rating, no matter what you might think you deserve. Just watch American Idol. It's not always the gifted vocalist that advances. If the judges simply don't like someone, they're history. It could be the way they dress... or their hair... or their attitude... any number of reasons.

Practically speaking, a song on the feature page is no different than a song on any other page, it just happens that it meets a certain criteria for a particular day. It's a song. If they don't want the rating, turn it off. It's already an option to do so. It's a mouse-click away.

sunshine_princess says: new profile featured songs every thursday! 7/3 - 7/10.

I agree with the fact that if you leave your ratings on, you risk the chance of getting less than a 5. While I know that there are so-called *rater-haters* out there... there is also the chance that because you are featured (or page director) you are being exposed to a whole lot more people than you normally would be therefore more people will be looking and rating you... this doesn't necessarily mean that ratings are malicious... just that more people are rating and therefore you're going to possibly see different scores.

*runs*

I don't rate though, so it wasn't me lol.

Soulrebel1 sucks big time at listening!

I can really sympathise with you MiraBella, I created one song contest on here a while back(the only contest I will ever judge won't be doing any more!) and the "prize" was to have the winner on the feature page.
Imagine my horror when looking at the winners songs to see every single one had been downrated in some way, not out of an open critique, but out of sheer jealousy.
I felt so embarressed to have put the winner in that position to have her songs downrated as they were.
The simple solution would be to have members names next to what they rate, but that idea has been shouted down, so, I don't know, we just have to live with these numpties who downrate i suppose.

I understand how you feel about it not being fair to basically turn off your ratings or take the chance of getting down rated but honestly that is the best solution in my opinion.

People who are directors of the feature page get exposure to EVERY member here on Singsnap. When you are the director you will be listened to by many others not in your usual circle of listening friends and if your ratings are on will be judged/rated by these people. I agree that there are some hate raters out there but their target people aren't necessarily the daily music directors. I personally don't see where this position would bring someone to jealousy and make someone rate low out of jealous revenge. Actually, until this was brought up I have never sought out the music director of the day to listen to. When you get numerous listeners from being featured you are bound to have some that don't automatically give out 5's but listen to the songs and rate them accordingly. Turn off your ratings for the day...that should hold your scores till this day passes and you have brought food for thought to the table for future featured music directors...

I was just thinking of the cause and effect on if a thing would happen. Do you realize how many people would be outraged by them singing a song for the feature and not even have the ability to have it rated. I have seen much controversy over much less than that on here. I personally don't care either way because I have my ratings on because certain members requested me to do so not because I like seeing stars.

All I am saying is that would seem like a good solution for you or whomever you are referring to but at the same time that would make a LOT of others pretty angry or upset.

If someone thinks your singing stinks and hurts their ears you may deserve a 1 .. Why? because it is there for them to give you.

Rater haters? LOL Please pretty conceited thinking on some peoples parts to think if they are featured that someone who can actually sing on key would on purpose knock you all down.

Shut off your ratings and stop whining like pre school children. Geez yes lets have Trevor hook up a device to thousands of members so they can see who gives a person a 1 and then prove it was out of jealousy LOL

Again shut off your ratings if you are sensetive and your little GOLD stars are as important to you as they were when you were in grade school and got one for good behavior.

I have been seeing this same nonsense since Nov of 2006 .. Has no one learned yet? Or do you all not read the thousands of threads dedicated to this same topic over and over and over and over. LOL.

Really people its a karakoke site... Trust me if some of you were singing out live good chance you may have someone howling like a dog when you get up to sing.. I have heard it done. MiraBella, people will be spiteful here or in physical life. Then again, some people will always be frank and honest too. Truth sometimes hurts. Nobody likes to be rated down, but fact is, there are people here that will rate honestly, and those who will rate with a malicious flare. Per is right in saying there is no way to know which is which. It all depends on a persons taste and choice of music. Although I myself won't rate on most songs, and I won't turn on my own ratings unless it's a duet with someone who does use ratings, I agree...just because you're being rated down, whether malicious or truthful, does not mean that everyone should have to pay the piper by being refused the choice of being rated on feature.. If it bothers you this much, then yes, turn them off. That way, the mean people can't continue to be mean, can they? hehe you might even get the last giggle by not giving them the opportunity to hurt your feelings. :)

It's damned if you do; damned if you don't. I don't think there is a solution that would satisfy everyone, which is why I think it's best to just leave it alone and let those who don't like it just turn it off.

However, I do think it would be nice if, after setting preferences when saving a song; public or private; ratings or no ratings, etc., they would stay that way for every subsequent song, unless you chose to change them. I am not familiar with the procedure when the director is chosen, but if they got a PM beforehand that they were the director for the next feature , it would allow them time to turn off ratings and maybe even comments.
As far as ratings it matters not whether its a contest or feature , I was in a contest where someone started downrating everyone in the contest and we all turned off our ratings . Some folks think its FUN I guess . Comments are the only applause we get on here not the ratings.

I would rather get a 1 then hear people howling. LOL But either way... This topic is a dead issue. Deal with it or leave your ratings off for God's sake.

the all high & mighty has spoken.

yet - not everyone feels the same way you do LadyDi.
Starting off your feedback with "Oh grow up" shows just how mature you are in a general discussion.

And so it begins... You all have a good day.

You can give a person a 1-5 . If someone thinks your singing stinks and hurts their ears you may deserve a 1 .. Why? because it is there for them to give you.

Ha!

Will get my 2 cents in before two certain ladies kick off...

Sorry this has happened to you Mirabella. I guess the sad fact of life is that people who are sad and unhappy in their own lives have nothing more than to spread this unhappiness to others. Unfortunately, as upset as you are right now, you are playing into their hands by engaging people in discussion regarding it and making it known how upset you are.

Whilst i wouldnt put it in the same terms, i do agree with Di, while you are subject to this kind of exposure as a director, you need to suck it up and try and ignore those that will downrate you because your name is underlined in blue. I personally dont understand why you are upset, but then i put no stock in the ratings and have mine removed.

I also think you are asking snap to spend time putting into place programming to prevent the downrating when that time would be put to better use by creating new features for us all and fighting those 'orrible publishers for the rights to those songs we lost.

If you are finding this hard my lovely, please turn the ratings off, dont subject yourself to the agony if it makes you feel bad.

You shouldnt have to turn them off, but i guess...hey ho...that's life :(

I'm not sure we could do anything even if we wanted to... if someone gives you a "4" that is their (personal and subjective) opinion of your recording. We have no way of knowing if it is their honest opinion or if they gave you a "4" for another reason.

Maybe we can invest in a lie detector test or something ;)

that could be fun why not lol
