"1st N.B.C. Invitational" - Round 1

Welcome to Round 1 of the "1st N.B.C. - Invitational"

Thank you for participating in our competition and the great tunes you submitted for the auditions! Congratulations!! You are possibly only 3 rounds from making the finals. How about a big round of applause for your judges, also! Scoring this number of such talented entries to start with is well deserving of a hearty pat on the back and a high five!!

The theme for this round is: "Favorite Solo Country Artist"

READ THE DIRECTIONS BELOW VERY THOROUGHLY! Your ability to follow them will ensure that your entry is accepted and qualifies you to be eligible to have your entry judged for possible progression to the next round. Entries submitted that do not meet the criteria will disqualify you, without notice. IT IS UP TO YOU, THE CONTESTANT, TO ENSURE YOUR ENTRY MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS!!

Many of us are fans of quite a few different artists and groups who have recordings in the country music genre. But how well do we really know our favorite artist? This round will be more involving than the last round and is designed to have a faster pace. It will call on you to do some more research and will require a bit more awareness of what is happening during this part of the competition.

For this round, you will be submitting a song recorded by your favorite SOLO country performer. (NOT a band, group or duet.) The song must be listed in the SS country genre section. Along with your song, (for an additional 5 points) you will be need to post IN THE RECORDING INFORMATION SECTION of your entry, (NOT the contest thread or 'Back 40' thread) the following:

A brief story: First telling us why this is your favorite solo artist, then give a short bio of the performers life - personal and professional. This could include information such as age, birthplace, marital status, number of children, years as a recording artist, number of albums, number of top 10 hits and music industry awards.

Again - Do NOT post the story in the contest thread or 'Back 40' thread!
Your story/bio MUST appear ONLY in the RECORDING INFORMATION SECTION
of your song page! Errant posts will result in disqualification.

Duplications of songs will not be allowed and 'claiming' a song is accomplished ONLY by posting your eligible recording. Duplication of Artists IS allowed. When making your song entry post, it is your responsibility to check the thread for previous claims BEFORE posting. This is accomplished fairly easily by using your web browser's 'Find' or 'Find on this page' function, usually under the 'Edit' heading in the menu bar, as you open the last couple of pages of the contest thread and search for the Song Title. Therefore, posts for eligible recordings MUST include the Song Title AND the Artists Name, followed by the link to the recording, in the SAME post to have a claim on the song.

Pre-records are NOT allowed. Harmonies are allowed - however, your base recording for the harmony must also be a fresh recording and must be set to 'public' in your preferences until after the next round is posted.

We are starting this round with 35 contestants. 10 will be eliminated at the completion of this round. Disqualifications, withdraws and no-shows will count towards those 10.

Scoring in this round will be done on a system with 35 points available for the perfect score:

Pitch Control - 10
Vocal Clarity - 10
Lyrics,Timing - 10
Story/Bio - 5

Your audition round scores will be added to the scores you receive here in Round 1 to determine the 'cut'.

Final Deadline will be Friday, July 25, at 11:59 PM SS Time.
Submissions made in the last two hours preceding the final deadline will
lose 5 points automatically, so don't wait til the last minute!!

There will be at least two opportunities during this round
to earn a free pass, good for any of the next two rounds.
Details will be posted later within an entry update.
Only members who have submitted eligible entries will qualify to win.

Planned hours of monitoring progress of the round are from Noon through 10 PM, SS time - Minus supper time and other necessary pit-stops, of course.

It is mandatory that you disable your cameras. Limit your comments left on your fellow competitors songs to text form only. If you are among those that customize your song pages, ensure that your 'bling' uses only 'still' images. NO 'glitter' or moving graphics. Please make use of the 'flagging' feature to add this thread, in addition to that of the 'Back 40' thread, to your message board favorites for quick access. Thank you in advance for your understanding and co-operation.

If the information could be beneficial to everyone, the reply will be posted here and on The 'Back 40' thread, so make sure to stay familiar with what's goin' on there.

Contest Info Update!!

Not even 24 hours into the round and already got a fourth of the entries in. Yahoobies!! This must mean there are those of you who are waiting to see what is in store for one of the chances to earn a free pass? Well.... you'll just have to wait some more! Perhaps the next update will bring news of how you can rope one. Here's a hint though.. it will involve having to do a 'gender bender'.
