I don't think anyone forces you to go Gold.. The fact is free members get a lot on this site.

An incentive to go Gold are the features more so IMO.. People who are Gold Members. Do it for the pitch changer.. The stereo.. The inner circles.. The playlists... The mmsb button.. The list goes on... And yes Gold members do get more songs.. But they pay for them... But that again is not the main objective that people went from free members to paying members. :)

Here's the way I look at all of this:

Let's say there was a resteraunt. The seating was divided in half. One side was FREE, the other side, you had to PAY for your meal.
The free side, on the menu are Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and Pizza.
The paying side, on the menu is Steak, Lobster and Lamb with all the trimmings.

The great concept is EVERYONE gets to eat, they just get to choose which side they want to sit on!!!

I don't consider it a waste of money. It's pretty cheap entertainment if you ask me. Where else can you go, have a great time, sing till ur lungs give out and get so much free advice on any subject you choose? :O)

I wish people would quit kissing butt. You all know it's not fair to have your free blue songs taking away. they were free now there Gold. You can sugar code it all you want. bottom line is take the free ad off the site it's not free anymore. pretty soon blue will be gone forever. I'm not pessimistic I'm telling the truth.

A person can Sing (as much as they wish to), record 100 songs, erase songs, record more- that's free, such an offering exists nowhere else legitimately. One hundred songs A/V storage, live chatroom to sing in 24/7, stationary bboards, interactive aspects of Karaoke aren't free ? They are free.

Assuming a person can't afford to support a site that needs revenue to operate (since the site is not free to the owner to keep in operation) they can enter their nicknames on a list where plenty of generous members sponser individuals enabling them to become gold members FREE..

A site of this type can not sustain itself on 0 revenue. As stated, nobody forces anyone to do anything. I understand that people enjoy unlimited free features, however people that supply entertainment often have expenses... Where do you get this type entertainment and the multitude of features (assuming Singing and the sites features are of importance to you) free ? Is Bowling free, Golf courses ? Pool halls ? Even bars expect their patrons buy a drink or two, Ice-skating at a rink ? Belonging to a health club ? Television ? Electricity ? WHAT IS 100% free with no funding ?

My point is, this costs somebody to give you these features... It costs somebody EVEN at the rate some of us are paying because those that can afford to contribute want a site (that costs the owner money) to remain 100% free without offering incentive to those that support it. Nobody is being "forced".

Why should it bother you that the site that you use for FREE is advertising their gold subscriptions? I am honestly tired of people using the term "force to go gold". Who exactly is forcing you to do anything?

If you choose to stay blue forever, you aren't being kicked off the site or your songs frozen...you can delete and record ad infinitum if you so choose unlike ALL the other sites that have limits on the number of recordings you can do for free and then your singing rights are frozen. To me, THAT is forcing someone to go subscription. They are in essence saying: "Here's a taste, now pay up or go home". Here at SS, however, if you choose to not partake in the gold subscription and the benefits it entails, that is your choice, and you are free to stay here amongst friends and community for as long as you like.

You get to sing up to 100 songs for free, have free reign on the message boards, free use of the Private Messaging system, live chat, etc. etc. etc. and you are upset that the site puts a banner on the site that costs them money to operate to remind/encourage people to go gold?

So if the site wants to put up a banner, or add extra benefits and incentives to go gold and help pay for the cost of running this amazing site, then they have every right to do so.

Songs were what some us went to Gold for! Just because some people think that we go Gold for the features and benefits and not the songs, it does not mean it is so! I, for one, would forego ALL the other benefits to get back the songs we lost!

You go Garth! I am with you 100%. Also if it wasn't for us coming on here paying and a singing there would not be a SS. It take customers to run a business, but the smart way to start a business is to dang something free in their face. They get hooked, they like, then all of a sudden you find yourself singing Ethel Merman songs from the sound of music!!! LOL It is funny to me that people could think we are that stupid!

I'm just sitting observing and not taking sides.... but I happened to notice it seemed only the gold named people were rooting for the gold names.

I try to see things in everybody's perspective. It seems if someone had been on the site for awhile, way before all this happened. Recorded a lot of songs but just don't have money "to waste".... Yeah, I can kinda understand that. I'm actually flat out broke on my ass right now, or else yeah I'd pay probably.

And then, to the part of forcing... I don't think they mean force as in like gun-point. I think 'force' was a bad choosen word actually... Uuuh.. Maybe the word was meant to be... I can't think of one... But... Maybe they mean... like "when an authorative guradian of yours like when you were under the age of 18 tries to be nice to you but you know that they're just being obvious that they want you to do something for them, like they just keep bringing it up and they'll nudge you in the side with their elbow about it, smile and wink with some nudging nudging til you finally just throw up your hands and do it" kinda thing.

:D lol oh well.... I can kinda see a little on both sides.

Question.. A girlfriend who is a blue member said she can't do a duet with me because she is blue, she is new I brought her to the site, So I don't know if she is correct or not....

Is that something only Gold members can do? As in. Can only gold members do the duets???

I think the entire site has thought about those who can't pay.. Or the entire site would be a pay only site.. And again as I stated in my last post.. Free members really do get alot.. Recording.. audio/video.. Singing chat..Message boards to socialize.

The Patron Fund was designed to help those people not able to pay. And of course the people on the site who choose to sponsor people on their own as well.

I know there are a lot of people not able to afford the fee. But there are a lot of people also willing to assist. :)

Hi friend, I agree with you. I know there are folks that can't afford it. I was here when it was free all the way. Then it turned to gold if you wanted to pay. It isn't fair the way the blues are treated since we use to all be blue. I tell you what, I know how hard it is to come up with this kind of money they talkin... it has turned into a sad situation. Some people think money just falls off of trees, or they will say go get a job. What if your 75 years old and npobody will hire you huh? What if your disabled and nobody will hire you huh? What if you have pounded the pavement but you can't find work right now unless you know someone huh? Lot of what ifs but people really don't think before they speak. Di are you aware that assistance is for only one month. Like dangling candy in front of a child and taking it back after they have had a small taste? I have sponsored more than three people but I don't publish it. If I do something for someone I don't want the world knowing it. I believe if you want to help then help but don't have it broadcast all over that you did someone a favor. Not my cup of tea. Jess

I am trying to find a reason other than picking a fight, why this thread was dragged up the board.

I cannot find it personally, we are all aware there are people that cannot afford singsnap and we try to do the best we can to help, we cannot help everybody and no one can expect singsnap to give everyone a free ride, if they did singsnap wouldn't last very long.

If you wish to hide your status that is your decision, if some like me and Di wish to show it, that is up to us band you have no right to condemn or judge us for it.

I think you will find people come to me asking for sponsorship because my nic is green and have told me they find it easier than admitting they can't afford it to the whole of singsnap..I can see their point personally.

First I agree with Scarlet.. And you just said you don't go around broadcasting your generosity but yet you did say you sponsor..

The comment about dangling a carrot? One month from the Patron Fund which is a collaboration of people contributing any dollar amount from one dollar to a thousand dollars is so Trevor can either choose the recepients or they can be nominated.

Anyone of us on this site can choose who they wish to sponsor.

Again this site offers free members alot...

If I choose to have my name in green so what? We are all contributing to the expenses to keep this site above water so there can be free members. Green or Gold what is the difference?

When I joined this site 3 yrs ago. I was not so delusional to think at some point if the site offered new features they would be free. In fact if truth be told.. I thought at some point the entire site would be a pay only site.

So if you think a free months gold is dangling a carrot I suppose you don't get that some people appreciate the gift as small as it may seem :)

Sponsoring someone is such a win/win situation for SingSnap...its like fishing really....You catch fish easily if they go right for the bait and don't hesitate.......for some , however, you need to "chum" (sponsor) the area your fishing...to attract the fish who aren't 100% commited to biting...once they get a taste of the bait..then they are more likely to go for the bait with the hook...so to speak....What a great way to attract new Gold Members..and all at the expense of the Members and not the owners...now thats smart business!!!
