1) Only Gold members can nominate now. 2) Nominations do not expire anymore.
Unfortunately eliminating cheating while still allowing free accounts to nominate turned out to be an impossible task.
Note: It will take some time for these changes to reflect on the Hall of Fame page.

How the heck do you cheat on HoF nominations??
Sheesh... some folks just have too dammmm much time on their hands.
Personally... I like the expiration factor as it allowed me to manage my nominees... and left room for new folks to get in the spotlight. I am not sure how an infinite nomination lifespan will affect that. Guess we'll see, huh? :0)
Yet again... it seems our FREE members are suffering. Just once I would like to see a service that is instituted as "FREE" not turn into a bait-n-switch. I know... it's a business and I am sure that was not the initial intent... but, one day... it would be nice :0)
Thanks for working to keep things running smoothly.
I can see why it's been changed, shame to see that blue members can't vote, seems a case of the actions of a few have detrimental effects on the majority but as there was no other way I can understand why it has been done. Still think you should prepare yourselfs for a few moans, flack jackets and tin helmets at the ready!

People are able to cheat on HOF nominations by having multiple blue accounts and/or others having blue accounts and voting their way into the HOF using those accounts. A person can open as many blue accounts as they have e-mail accounts.
This step will make the HOF more fair from this aspect but it is also one less way blue members can be interactive in the community.
I do not agree with an infinite time limit for HOF nominations. It is still very well possible for there to be organized efforts by members to engage others to vote their friends into the HOF as a clique and have the nominations potentially remain there indefinitely. This needs to be reconsidered.

I do not agree with the infinite time limit at all for the reason I have posted - the cliques can vote their friends into the HOF and keep them there indefinitely.

I am gonna have to agree on this one about the blues losing another aspect of the site. Even as GOLD members, who says THEY won't cheat the system. Just because they are GOLD does not mean they are innocent LOL of the problem at hand. It will just be more GOLD members cheating than their was BLUE. Now of course they won't be able to take the easy route by making another blue name to nominate themselves but the SPAMMING will get worse in PM's.
I would have thought that the nominations would be PER ( not you Per lol) IP address. Wouldn't that cut down on the cheating if, the IP address was addressed? and when that same IP addressed made a new name to nominate themselves, it would give them a message saying they already nominated once?
I would have thought that would make it harder for one to cheat?
Their has to be another way of going about this. I don't care for the Hall of Fame but that is my opinion. Their are those who enjoy it very much and most of those are blue members. It is their 15 minutes of fame, so-to-speak.

Fantastic Per, now if someone wishes to abuse the system they will have to pay 12 dollars a month for each extra nomination they want, and I imagine that would be bloody expensive to get the number one spot.....(although great for business if anyone wishes to huh? lol)
;-)
Post Script.....However on principle i disagree with number 2.

Just to answer from my experience on the ip address, if you had a tracker on you page as an example and i came by ten times per say, I could in effect show a different ip address every time I visited, this seems to be how it works on AOL.

whats really being taken away is the friendships of being a part of the process of putting ones friends in the limelight for a brief moment . blue members are not the problem here they are singsnaps future customer why take one more thing away ? i supported this sites trying to make this site profitable thats understandable . we all want this place to succeed . but taking this away from the blue members isnt going to make a new future gold wannabe . blue members must feel wanted here what you have already given them to begin with should be left in place . make a seperate hall of pros that only gold can vote on but in my view dont take away another thing from the blue you will only lose

ok i will sir . anyone who thinks there songs are top shelf over the folks who just love to sing and be on a karaoke site . anyone who is jealous that they would have to be alongside and share an off key stroke victim who just had his day made because a group of gold and blue members put him in the limelight and gave him some self worth for just a little while .
or the little elderly lady who just had come home from a cancer treatment who got a smile from someone putting her in the hall of fame and let her know someone cared and loved her enough to go to that trouble . this site is for everyday folks who love to sing no matter if there an embaressement to folks who think that only talented people should be in the hall of fame . take them away and see how long this site lasts . when this site starts to cater to just the talented singers then this site will lose more then it gains

Dan, nothing has been changed insofar as which types of songs will be able to go into the HOF...every song will be able to get nominated, whether it's 'top shelf'...or just something loved and admired.
If anything, the changes mean it's likely that those that think they are 'top shelf'..and have manipulated votes to make sure they enter the HOF in a good position will have that ability taken away, and those songs that are done by genuine fun loving people, will gain more exposure..not less!!

Well from my experience, yes if you are on Dial-up, wether it be AOL or some other internet dial-up provider, your IP changes everytime you log off and on.
Tho if you are on DSL or Cable, the IP is constant. Even if at least 50% of SS members are on Dial-up, that would still cut down on the cheating cus the other 50% that are on DSL/Cable don't have that advantage. Course you could go and download AOL and plug in your phone line and create an AOL account and cheat that way. BUT that would cost money, I would guess. Or go to a friends house who still uses dial-up, as long as you created your BLUE name under their IP address, then your new blue name would register under their IP.( I think that is how that works. I know nothing about this, have never cheated LOL.) Only reason I know is because when I have been booted from a room on Paltalk, with no reason, I want to know why. So, I log under a new name by signing up through dial-up services and then I can go back into the room cus it is a different IP address. But if I try to go back into the room with a new name created under the same IP addy that was kicked out of the room, it won't let you in. Just from my experience ....
So, if the nominations are calculated under the persons IP address, that would cut down on the cheating when attempting to create a new name under the same IP addy. IF on DSL/Cable .
LadyMatika wrecked her throat on the last 3 songs hope it was for not !!!!!!
yeah that's not sitting with me too well either having the hof nominations taken away from the blues
I mean they are on here too, they should be able to nominate people too not that I kinda care about the HOF none of the ones I nominated get picked anyways once in a blue moon if I promote them first on the message board till probably people are sick of me posting them lol but this thing here with taking another thing away from the blue doesn't sit well with me
doesn't sound like a fair shake !!!!! it's just gonna be something else for them to fight with people in the boards over !!!!!!!
well that's just my opinion probably get people yelling at me and sending me hate mail lol
Smiles.....this saddens me very much....this will even separate the community....Seems the Blues suffer at any cost...Is that right...they are and could be future Gold...I for one think it is very very wrong...I so agree with HOBO....If we are all suppose to be a community then things like this have to stop...I remember at one point in time...it was stated nothing would change for BLUE Members...and once again...that statement has become untrue...why make them suffer for someone elses mischief...If it is such a problem for some people...then get rid of the hall of fame...that would be the fairest thing to do...so that this community can become Whole once again. When you listen Most people truly dont care if the HOF is there or not. I for one will undo my HOF votes..and vote for no one....for if Blues are good enough to receive votes...then they truly are worthy of voting...I know In Canada if you are a canadian Citizen you can vote...if not....You cannot vote...so does this mean Blue Members...are not true citizens of SingSnap...so very very sad.....
My Opinion......and i feel strongly on this one...

I think its great That the Noms Don't expire anymore...because that was becoming a real headache for me...Keeping up with re-nominations! so...yayyyy! to that!
I dont see many people paying for extra GOLD accounts just so they can nominate their own songs....So I don't actually think that Limiting Noms to Gold Only is a bad idea either... :)

they were able to do that with blocks, so don't see why it could not be implemented on the HOF nominations. I know that when someone has blocked me cus they don't want me to respond to them through pm, after they were rude to me, and of course I can't respond cus of the block. Seems to me that the only people who will really suffer are the people who are gold and make a bunch of blue accounts to nominate themselves.
Thusfar, the only people I see complaining are gold subscribers. So now the spammers go after only golds...seems the blues win on that one!

Yup, Golds that do cheat the system, will now become spam stalkers, since they won't be able to create new blue names. So, the problem has only been fixed to an extent. You solve one problem, you create another LOL. It's a never ending cycle LOL. Also, since blues can't nominate anymore, they also start spamming PM's even more frequently, cus they can still be nominated into the HOF LOL. If it's not one thing, it is another LOL. Oi, the blocks are gonna get worn out on this one LOL. I seen in the suggestion folder about being able to PM more than one person at a time. Ok, I am gonna scare myself if I keep thinking this way LOL ;)

Guess this was inevitable but I'm not sure what number 2 really means...............Won't the HOF grow much to large if the nominations don't expire? Will members still be able to remove their nominations and will the songs then expire if all nominations are removed?
I really think the original system where everyone got only ten nominations and could remove them and choose another song to nominate is the best system to have. That way the song selection changes and no one song is in the HOF indefinetly unless members vote to keep it there. Just my honest opinion.
LadyMatika wrecked her throat on the last 3 songs hope it was for not !!!!!!
I agree with Donny this is definitely gonna cause more trouble with the blues wish I had the money to make blues into gold but I can hardly keep my self gold let alone help somebody out :(
1 how many votes does it even take ? 2 should'nt there be like some sort of judging or something? 3 how long will these songs stay? and why can't everyone just agree to not ever answer a spammed request?

Made me laugh.........maybe the site should have one of those spam buttons..........we click on spam and it reports it, just like in email accounts..........then if someone spams too much they get into trouble..........just a thought.
At this point I wonder why you even KEEP the HOF? If it's really not showcasing what it's supposed to...and is just a popularity thing...why bother? People have favorites for a reason. If you think someone is exceptional...favorite them and comment to let them know. Have staff pick the Top 100 viewed songs/videos a week and put them up every weekend or something.

Per ate way too much cake today!I have made two changes to the Hall of Fame:

Still think you should prepare yourselfs for a few moans, flack jackets and tin helmets at the ready!

k2501961 new song on snap! http://www.singsnap.com/snap/r/bb11dd44fPeople are able to cheat on HOF nominations by having multiple blue accounts and/or others having blue accounts and voting their way into the HOF using those accounts.

Fantastic Per, now if someone wishes to abuse the system they will have to pay 12 dollars a month for each extra nomination they want, and I imagine that would be bloody expensive to get the number one spot.....(although great for business if anyone wishes to huh? lol)
;-)
Post Script.....However on principle i disagree with number 2.

whats really being taken away is the friendships of being a part of the process of putting ones friends in the limelight for a brief moment . blue members are not the problem here they are singsnaps future customer why take one more thing away ? i supported this sites trying to make this site profitable thats understandable . we all want this place to succeed . but taking this away from the blue members isnt going to make a new future gold wannabe . blue members must feel wanted here what you have already given them to begin with should be left in place . make a seperate hall of pros that only gold can vote on but in my view dont take away another thing from the blue you will only lose

Mandy come on then reaper..come get us...lolDan, nothing has been changed insofar as which types of songs will be able to go into the HOF...every song will be able to get nominated, whether it's 'top shelf'...or just something loved and admired.

IF on DSL/Cable .

not that I kinda care about the HOF none of the ones I nominated get picked anyways once in a blue moon
if I promote them first on the message board till probably people are sick of me posting them lol
but this thing here with taking another thing away from the blue doesn't sit well with me
doesn't sound like a fair shake !!!!!
it's just gonna be something else for them to fight with people in the boards over !!!!!!!

Have a wonderful day...

they were able to do that with blocks, so don't see why it could not be implemented on the HOF nominations. I know that when someone has blocked me cus they don't want me to respond to them through pm, after they were rude to me, and of course I can't respond cus of the block. BUT when creating a new name to respond back to them, I still can't cus the block was registered under the IP addy I used with the original name that was blocked.
I know nothing about how to implement something like that on the website but I figure it be along the same lines as the blocks. Tho, like I said, I don't have experience with how to do that ..

OMG, that will create chaos, if something like that is implemented. Some will use i like it should but others will take advantage of it and use it as spamming 20 people at once LOL. Ok, I am gonna scare myself if I keep thinking this way LOL ;)

I really think the original system where everyone got only ten nominations and could remove them and choose another song to nominate is the best system to have. That way the song selection changes and no one song is in the HOF indefinetly unless members vote to keep it there. Just my honest opinion.

People have favorites for a reason. If you think someone is exceptional...favorite them and comment to let them know. Have staff pick the Top 100 viewed songs/videos a week and put them up every weekend or something.
