I'm an eat the dough right out of the package freak. Now they're saying the cookie dough isn't safe. Dang!

"Advice to Consumers
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are warning consumers not to eat any varieties of prepackaged Nestle Toll House refrigerated cookie dough due to the risk of contamination with E. coli O157:H7. If consumers have any prepackaged, refrigerated Nestle Toll House cookie dough products in their home they should throw them away. Cooking the dough is not recommended because consumers might get the bacteria on their hands and on other cooking surfaces. The recall does not include Nestle Toll House morsels, which are used as an ingredient in many home-made baked goods or other already baked cookie products."

It's a shame how the bacteria got in there. Probably poor hygiene?

Nothing wrong with home-made cookie dough though!
You can eat it raw, too!! ;)

(Well they say you shouldn't, but my family's done that for the last 100 years and nobody ever got sick ... )

Googling pre-made cookie dough now. Wow! Is it very popular to buy prepackaged cookie dough over there?

The cookie-dough manufacturer's website FAQ says you can't bake the dough and make cookies? Why buy it then? Do you eat it raw from the container?

I even found a recipe for raw cookie dough, ready to eat, unfit for baking! Hehe!

I have not eaten cookie dough since I am a teen.. I will not lick the spoon from cake batter either."If it has raw eggs in it. You are in danger".

At one point I would taste my meat ball mixture to see if it was seasoned enough. I won't do that anymore.

Just because you have not gotten sick yet doesn't mean you won't

Wait until the cookies are done LOL . Just as good or better :)

They even make cookie dough ice cream for us finatics. Cookie dough is a staple in this house. Milk and chocolate cookies before bedtime, but always have a taste of the dough before cooking. It's almost a nightly ritual. Who ever heard of E. coli in cookies for crying out loud.

Not all ice cream has raw eggs in it. Not the ice cream in my freezer... Eggs are not neeed to make ice cream. I wouldn't eat it if it did. I am really careful what I eat .. Who serves it to me.. And who is preparing it..

In a restaraunt. If the person serving you just happens to smush something back onto your plate who may have just used the toilet and did not wash their hands. That is how you can get any kind of digestive illness. You know what I am talking about without me getting into the gross details LOL

I have never gotten ill with any digestive illness. And I intend to keep it that way LOL.

I have a track record of over 40 yrs of never getting sick to my stomach.. vomiting or getting the runs LOL.

I must be doing something right ;)
