Hi, I've only been on SS for about 6 weeks and I'm already addicted. I've been singing all my life, never sang professionally, just around the house, at church, in the car, etc...I have MAJOR stage fright so this site is perfect for me.

I know there's a lot of "fluffing" on here and just wanted to know if someone would take a listen to some of my songs and tell me if I need to improve on anything, if I'm not as good as people tell me, if I should just hang it up. LOL

I don't use any special equipment such as a mixer....it's just me and the mic.

Thanks for all of your opinions in advance.

I listened to "Til I Can Make It On My Own"....Horrible!!!...No Just Kidding, You were fine. I've been hosting a karaoke show for the past 6 years and I can honestly say your probably in the top 20% of good singers that I've heard and believe me I've heard ALOT of singers. There's some really horrible singers out there! (and some really good) I think the only thing you needed in that recording was some reverb or effects to enhanse your voice because it sounded dry. Also maybe try to practice using some vibrato in your voice. It would show that you have more vocal control. Overall your enjoyable to listen to. Keep it up!

you sing nicely, and you know the right songs to sing
but just like singen_for_yeh said, you need to learn vibrato ..
I'd also suggest some few voice effects like huskiness and stuffs.. but only if you want to do better

you're okay the way you sing now..

oh and don't eat sardines

Vibrato is actually a result of proper breathing.

This is a common mistake MANY people make when singing. They don't know how to control their breathing or how to use it effectively and when they try to "apply" a vibrato, it sounds really odd.

You have a very nice voice that's pleasing to the ear. That's just it though. Just nice. What makes a voice really 'pop' is taking full, relaxed diaphragm breaths and I can tell that you're not really doing this because I can hear you running out of breath at the ends of phrases.

You should look into more breath control and expanding the natural fullness of your voice before you attempt to add anything extra to it. You'll find that using your full breath will add life, warmth, and character to your singing. Don't go for unnatural attempts at vocal effects since they might hurt your instrument (your voice) in the long run.
