Hi folks,
It has come to my attention that some more songs that should have been taken down last month due to licensing were missed. I just removed a chunk a few minutes ago. Believe me, I was upset about it as you guys are (or will be).
Also, I'm looking at a way to find a few more that may have slipped through the cracks, for instance the ones that an entire artist is gone but one or two remain. Once these are gone, that *should be it*. There are no more offending songs in our database. Any more 'take downs' are going to be single digit numbers at the very most, as we are notified or become aware of them.
I really apologize for this; my fault. On the flip side, these should have been removed a month ago. :o
I KNOW this thread is going to get 'big' and I really can't say more than I have, so I'm not going to be checking this thread or replying much. I've got a lot of other features on the go that are taking up 99% of my time, so since I can't say much else... well, you get the point.
Anyway, I guess this could be known as the 'flog me' thread. Go ahead. Flog me.

What I don't get is why I am not finding any online articles talking about why this push all of the sudden. I found one place that said Bon Jovi has removed permission to even have his songs on CDG's!

--We understand specific legalites cannot and will not be discussed.
--We love SS and will certainly "go sing another song that IS available" which is the usual suggestion, so that's not necessary to hear right at this moment
--No video updates or MB updates from Trevor/staff leave us to speculate and assume things. Right now, it looks like things are going in the wrong direction, from our perspective.
--It really would be wonderful to know if there is any hope that the songs will come back. We are grateful for all the cool features we have and the new ones to come that you say are keeping you so busy. Love it! Does that preclude you guys giving any glimmer of hope or lack thereof? Even one video announcement sentence, or a post on the board or main page stating "We are working on restoring the catalog as it was prior to the licensing debacle" would suffice. Or the opposite: "The songs are never coming back."
It's the being in the dark that is frustrating.

What is even more depressing...is that these songs are all available on other karaoke sites......not really a way to entice members to go gold is it? when the song listing of popular songs is disappearing fast........ I can only hope that Trevor and staff are working hard behind the scenes to rectify this a.s.a.p.....all the new features are all well and good....but what good are they when you cant find something you actually want to sing.......and why is it all popular songs being lic? why are we being left with all the cack?? sorry...rant over...

You say in the FAQ, that it's due to a change in copyright holders or publishers wishes for their songs, such as what I read about Bon Jovi! Then give us the names, we,as consumers, could put pressure on these individuals without SS's name even being brought up.

well...I knew I should not have put up that spaceship and sang while my vocals sounded like the munckins...."bangles song...eternal flame'
and now I think about it...my daughter (helene75) sang six songs total and two had went poof...and now two more she sang ....and she...who rarely comes here...has no songs...I doubt whether she will be returning...she will not be happy....and I will miss her singing...she was just talking about coming here to sing..I am an easy person to get along with...well mostly..but well..she will not be happy...I dont think she has any songs now..I am going to go check...yep....only one song left and that was her little baby singing twinkle twinkle....
oh well....
what I dont understand is why not JUST TELL US...what is going on and why all these songs have left....I really dont like to be left in the dark.....

What is happening behind the scenes? It can't all be top secret. If we only knew that there was hope! (or no hope).
And why do other sites have those songs?

I'm not gonna flog jason for missing some songs, but it was pretty damn jerky to delete my thread about it.
I gather it is now taboo to even discuss which songs are gone.
FWIW: I received no notice or explanation re: pulling my thread.
