Ya, I have the exact problem here as well. What settings do we need here to adjust the balance so we get music as well. Running an onboard realtek AC 97 sound here.

Control Panel ...
Sounds and Audio Devices ...
Click "Advanced" from the volume Tab
This will open a window called "Play Control"

From that ... choose Options / Properties .. and select the "Recording" radio button and choose OK ..

The window is now called "Recording Control".

This is where you "tell singsnap" what you want to record...

It sounds like you've all got it set to "Microphone" (is this the one that's ticked) ??

If so ... this is INCORRECT ... since ... if you record your mic ... all you will record is your vocals or .. what can be heard through the mic.

You need to change the recording device FROM Microphone to ...

either :-

"What U Hear" (this will be only available if you have a soundblaster card).

or

"Wave Out Mix" or "Stereo Mix" (it'll be something like this - again .. depending on your soundcard)

ok, so I was only hearing my voice and no music so I followed these steps...

Sounds and Audio Devices ...
Click "Advanced" from the volume Tab
This will open a window called "Play Control"

From that ... choose Options / Properties .. and select the "Recording" radio button and choose OK ..

The window is now called "Recording Control".

So now my "wave out mix" is ticked off but now I only hear Music no voice...??? Any suggestions?

for those with SoundMax Digital Audio on Windows XP these tips might help:

(a) on the volume control panel make sure the microphone is not muted
(b) on the Advanced tab of the microphone properties, toggle on MIC Boost
(c) on the Recording panel - select the Wave Out Mix
(d) on the Singsnap page where the song is right click and choose settings > click on the microphone icon and adjust recording level and toggle on reduce echo if necessary

classycowgurl having dreams of singing on singnsap!!! hehehee

No matter what I have mine set to, whether it's set to wave out mix or mic, I can't hear the music, only my voice. I have XP on my computer and did not have this problem til tonite. Is Singsnap having problems? I just took out a gold membership this past week, now I can't use it???? Am going to a different karaoke site, as KSOLO works for me, and I'll cancel my credit card since that's how I paid Singsnap, if they can't get this problem solved. I'm not spending over $70 for something I can't use.

In addition to what I posted above, Singsnap does not work at all in a browser other than Mozilla Firefox on my XP computer. I don't understand why Singsnap cannot make their site compatible with certain browsers OR with computers with Vista either. My daughter has a Vista computer and she can't get Singsnap to work on hers either. Two very unsatisfied customers here. Is there anyone who can help before I cancel my membership? I've enjoyed this site so far, but if I can't use it now, why pay for it???

Frustrating... the myspace karaoke is much simpler. It's designed to insert the music without hearing it. It's much "smarter". I wish this would do that. We shouldn't have to set it. I was just liking the usb functionality here and the song choice is greater... but the code needs a big ol' rework. I only have 1 sound card option and everything selected to record... but nothing but my vocals records.

Oh well.. it was a nice thought..

MikaylasMom24 is just relaxing!

i have all the correct settings but unfortunately from what I've heard, Dell computers are set to where you can't record through a headset. you'd have to put your mic right by your speakers and record all through your mic. if you click on wave out or what you hear, you'll only record background music and no voice. i dont think theres anything you can do about it!

I'm having the same problem but it could be because I might be using a usb device.

When you run the setup here, it says that it may not be able to record the music, only your voice if it's a usb.
