Round 1 Begins:

“Free Love”
As the title suggests, you will be singing love songs, but from the decades of 1960 and 1970.

JUDGING:
To make things as fair as possible, I’ve requested to have the excellent and sexy Bruce (Brucester) judge with me. I think he will help balance things out, and keep me from being a drill sergeant during the contest. And he has a great ear, as well. We will be judging in 4 areas: Key, Tone, Voice Control, and Song Choice. You can get up to 10 points in each area, for a total of 40 points- a perfect score. We can provide your score in a PM at the end of the round upon request. All decisions are final.

CRITERIA DURING ROUNDS:
No effects, including MMSB, no duets or added harmonies or added instruments, and Singsnap backing track must be used. Entries must be submitted on time. All entries for rounds have to be fresh recordings. No need to “claim” songs, as repeats are fine. Just post the song link along with the artist and song name, and year it was released.
I will be checking release dates, so don’t attempt to pull a fast one on me. (An easy way to confirm the release date is to go to Wikipedia.) Sometimes Singsnap has a song that has been covered many times. Remember, you’re looking for the release date by whichever artist sung the version that you submit.
Round 1 through the Semi-Finals, I will have a specific list of artists or songs or a theme to choose from. Round 3 (if you survive that far) will also include two bonus songs to choose from (you can sing either one, but not both). The two best singers in regards to the bonus song will automatically advance to Round 4, regardless of their regular entries. You aren’t required to do a bonus song; it’s up to you.

TIMELINE:
There will be 5 days per round- 4 days to submit your entry, and then an additional day for the judges to finish doing listens and judging, then I will post a link to then next round. This round will close in 4 days at Midnight EST (SS time). If your song isn’t in on time, you will be disqualified.

THE ROUNDS:
Okay, here are the rounds, and a general idea of what will be happening.
Round 1- Begin with 40 contestants
Round 2- Begin with 30 contestants
Round 3- Begin with 20 contestants- bonus round
Round 4- (the semi-finals)- Begin with 10 contestants
Finals- 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and 2 runners-up will receive honorable mentions.

THE WINNERS:
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive an shining HTML trophy, and the 2 runners up will receive a flashy little banner as well, and bragging rights for all the winners. Trophies and banners will be provided by the fine Steve (Gibson143).

DRAMA:
There always seems to be some kind of drama in contests- I’m not going to stress about it. Just don’t bash other contestants on the thread (that’s MY job, lol), and try to keep the swearing to a minimum. If you have an issue about the contest or the way it’s set up, let me know, either on the thread or send a PM. However, I will be very fair and won’t be changing any of the rules, unless something extreme happens.

Remember, we are all here for good times. Give each entry your best shot, but don’t forget to enjoy yourself, and listen to other contestants.

FAILURE TO ABIDE BY THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN BEING DISQUALIFIED… SO CONSIDER THIS YOUR WARNING

*One side note. I don’t think this will be an issue, but I’m trying to cover my bases here. I also have a separate critique thread going on. You MAY NOT submit a song for critique, and then enter the song here. If you want to have the song critiqued after the contest ends, then that is fine.
