Hi Everyone! Here's a tip on making you recording sync up perfectly to the backing track. It is technical though, so if your a complete computer illiterate you probably shouldn't try this.
- First, edit the recording - click the "Remix this recording"-button - click anywhere in the remix window with the right mouse button - a menu will appear. select "view source" - this will open a text editor with a lot of text - search for a segment which looks like this :
<script type="text/javascript"> var isInternetExplorer = navigator.appName.indexOf("Microsoft") != -1; var startviewlink = "/snap/account/doremix?recording_id=b3bb4b4e&song_id=ab1e6f6&duet_id=&stream_name=34003_17742474&record_key=e890e00feb68e2df6091&usestereo=true&webcam=9b1c6&pitchshiftstring=";
var use_reverb = 1; var use_compression = 1; var g_enableMix = 1; var g_latency = -0.12; var g_mic_level = 100; var g_music_level = 100;
please note that the values I gave above can be different for your recording. The values for your recording can be found in text segment:
var use_reverb = <your reverb value>; var use_compression = <your compression value>; var g_enableMix = <your enablemix value>; var g_mic_level = <your mic level>; var g_music_level = <your music level>;
- now for the syncing : the steps in the mixer correspond to more granular values :
-3 translates to 0.25 -2 translates to 0.166666667 -1 translates to 0.083333333 0 translates to 0 1 translates to -0.083333333 2 translates to -0.166666667 3 translates to -0.25
so if you want to sync your recording between 1 and 2, you should add the following to the adress bar : "&latency=-0.12"
BTW, maybe it's easier to add the text in a text editor first and copy it over to the address bar from there. This way you can adjust the sync value to another value and recopy it if the first attempt wasn't succesful....

This looks quite useful as a post-production tool for the Gold/Patron group. My Everex with its Gigabyte/AMD 'board currently reflects about half the change on the Timing Value parameter w/r/t the server mix in the Sing And Record Engine, as I ended up with some overadvanced vocal tracks on some recent Recordings; I can compensate for this issue in the initial mixdown, now that I have the scope of this timing issue.

Hi Everyone!
Here's a tip on making you recording sync up perfectly to the backing track. It is technical though, so if your a complete computer illiterate you probably shouldn't try this.
- First, edit the recording
- click the "Remix this recording"-button
- click anywhere in the remix window with the right mouse button
- a menu will appear. select "view source"
- this will open a text editor with a lot of text
- search for a segment which looks like this :
<script type="text/javascript">
var isInternetExplorer = navigator.appName.indexOf("Microsoft") != -1;
var startviewlink = "/snap/account/doremix?recording_id=b3bb4b4e&song_id=ab1e6f6&duet_id=&stream_name=34003_17742474&record_key=e890e00feb68e2df6091&usestereo=true&webcam=9b1c6&pitchshiftstring=";
var use_reverb = 1;
var use_compression = 1;
var g_enableMix = 1;
var g_latency = -0.12;
var g_mic_level = 100;
var g_music_level = 100;
function preplink(){
viewlink = startviewlink + "&latency=" + g_latency + "&enableMix=" + g_enableMix + "&mic_level=" + g_mic_level + "&music_level=" + g_music_level + "&use_reverb=" + use_reverb + "&use_compression=" + use_compression;
}
- open a new web browser
- in the address bar type : http://www.singsnap.com/ and do not press enter
- after that, add the text from the segment after "var startviewlink =" and don't press enter
- the address bar should now read something like :
http://www.singsnap.com/snap/account/doremix?recording_id=b3bb4b4e&song_id=ab1e6f6&duet_id=&stream_name=34003_17742474&record_key=e890e00feb68e2df6091&usestereo=true&webcam=9b1c6&pitchshiftstring=
- add "&enableMix=1" to the address bar
- add "&mic_level=100" to the address bar
- add "&music_level=100" to the address bar
- add "&use_reverb=1" to the address bar
- add "&use_compression=1" to the address bar
please note that the values I gave above can be different for your recording. The values for your recording can be found in text segment:
var use_reverb = <your reverb value>;
var use_compression = <your compression value>;
var g_enableMix = <your enablemix value>;
var g_mic_level = <your mic level>;
var g_music_level = <your music level>;
- now for the syncing :
the steps in the mixer correspond to more granular values :
-3 translates to 0.25
-2 translates to 0.166666667
-1 translates to 0.083333333
0 translates to 0
1 translates to -0.083333333
2 translates to -0.166666667
3 translates to -0.25
so if you want to sync your recording between 1 and 2, you should add the following to the adress bar : "&latency=-0.12"
- the full text in the address bar should now look something like :
http://www.singsnap.com/snap/account/doremix?recording_id=b3bb4b4e&song_id=ab1e6f6&duet_id=&stream_name=34003_17742474&record_key=e890e00feb68e2df6091&usestereo=true&webcam=9b1c6&pitchshiftstring=&enableMix=1&mic_level=100&use_reverb=1&use_compression=1&latency=-0.12
- press enter in the adress bar, and your recording should be remixed with the proper sync settings...
If this looks like abracadabra to you, please forget it... :-)

This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much!
However, lol, I got an "Oops we encountered an error" when I put my link in. Can you have a look at it and see what my problem is?

Leona, I see there's a "/" in there which shouldn't be there :
duet_stream_name=243424/243424_20357268_ba8c54c07c3690973595_mixed
Are you sure you copied it right?
I've never tried this on a duet though....

Leona,
I just tried a duet of mine, and the URL I used is :
http://www.singsnap.com/snap/account/doremix?recording_id=b2d46ef6&song_id=b62e225&duet_id=aaacc336&stream_name=34003_42529523&record_key=5ce61b84f3d13b72f9a8&duet_stream_name=213284/213284_30902935_0e4aa8316b38209a82c1_mixed&usestereo=true&webcam=0&pitchshiftstring=&enableMix=1&mic_level=100&music_level=100&use_reverb=1&use_compression=1&latency=-1.2
So the "/" should be there...
Maybe there's some space between some characters?

And thanks to leonna for posting this link in another thread. I never would have found it otherwise.
