Posted by CerebraljamGOLD on July 1, 2008 at 6:03 PM

This challenge is open to all. It runs until Tuesday July 8 at 6PM EDT. Its purpose is to give people a forum to have their songs heard. There is no judging involved. Everyone who participates is a winner.

PLEASE READ THESE GUIDELINES AND THE THEME DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING

1. Post ONE OR TWO songs that fit the theme. You may post a THIRD one on or after Thursday. You may post a FOURTH song on or after Saturday.

Your song can be a new song or one that was already recorded.

**2. For EACH song you post, listen to at least SIX other people’s songs and leave feedback. That means, if you post 2 songs you should listen to 12 others over the course of the 7 days of the challenge, a little less than 2 a day. If you post 3 songs, listen to 18 others and so on. You may, of course, listen to more if you choose.

Listening is the most important part of this challenge. Supporting and experiencing others is what it’s about.

3. We prefer to listen to the whole song. Try not to listen to the same people every day. Give new people a chance as well.

4. Please do not post glitter or large graphics as feedback or in the thread.

5. You don't need to post a song to listen but you need to listen if you post a song. It's best to post earlier in the challenge. But you can post up until the end. Just be aware that the closing hours of the challenge are better suited to listening than trying to squeeze in a last minute post.

6. Please avoid making multiple posts in a row by going back and editing your posts if you left something out. You have 30 minutes after you post to add to or correct your post by using the EDIT button.

Please visit our HOME PAGE for a great deal of useful information by clicking the link below. You will find answers to your many questions, including tips about how to post links and how to edit your posts, our FAQ, our chat room entrance, live recordings from our chat room and our birthday calendar.

Everyone's A Winner Challenge Home Page and Chat Room Entrance

New challenge themes are announced every Tuesday at 6PM EDT.

Everyone’s A Winner Chat Room
We have our own chat room where you can sing live or just listen to and chat with others in this community. It’s a lot of fun and a great crowd of friendly people. Come hang out with your new online friends.

We have regular, rather lengthy gatherings as follows -
Thursday beginning at 7PM EDT (4PM PDT/11P GMT)
Friday at 6PM EDT (3PM PDT/11PM GMT+1). Often there’s a late Friday one too.
Saturday around 8:30PM EDT (5:30PM PDT/12:30AM GMT)
Sunday afternoon we occasionally get together on Sunday afternoons starting at 1PM EDT (10AM PDT/5PM GMT)
EDT=Eastern Daylight Time PDT=Pacific Daylight Time GMT=Greenwich Mean Time

But you are welcome in there at any time as long as you follow the guidelines. If you want to organize a gathering at other times, you can invite others to meet you with PMs or by mentioning it in the challenge thread.

To get into the chat room, use the login at the bottom of the Home Page.
If you've not been to the chat room before or if you need to brush up on the guidelines and how it works, please read item # 11 before entering.

Sandysongbird ...just another day in the life..but it's a good life...

Yay!!! Here's mine. I don't usually sing this one, even though it's sung by my favorite recording artist, because I know I'm just nowhere near good enough. I almost didn't think I'd find it in my recordings, but I have done it once or twice. Not really about our fourth of july but...

Independence Day

Sorry Janet! I didn't mean to jump in front of you there.

Hi~
My song for the challenge mentions Houston, Detroit and my home town - Pittsburgh PA.
Life During Wartime - Talking Heads

Let's see if I remember my history~ Pennsylvania named the Keystone State and named after William Penn, also one of the 13 colonies, and the state flower is Mountain Laurel. That's about all I remember. Now Pittsburgh has a working incline and was home to the Heinz Company. I got to tour the factory in 4th grade and received a pickle pin!
Also about PA , I can't forget Hershey's chocolate. The town of Hershey's has Hershey kisses shaped streetlights downtown. There's also historic Gettysburg located in PA. Also PA was one of the homes to the Shawnee tribe.
Now I gotta go find out about Florida - but I do know Key Lime pie is the state pie!

Sandysongbird ...just another day in the life..but it's a good life...

I thought after what I said early this morning, and because Janet wanted some stories to go with this, that I ought to put this one in. Now I see that Roberta has already done it...and I hope nobody minds me doubling it. Anyway...I just sang the Star Spangled Banner. That's something I think would be such an honor to do for a special event. My story is that my great, great, great, great, great grandfather's (or somewhere thereabouts) brother was married to Betsy Ross, after she made the famous flag with stars. (She had quite a few husbands - they kept getting killed or dying) Anyway, I know they say now that the story that we were all taught about her being asked by George Washington to make a flag, and subsequently making one cannot be substantiated, and it's just a family story. But it's my family story from a great, great, great, great, uncle or cousin or someone who heard the story from her when he was young.

Yes we eat hamburgers and hot dogs on the 4th of July, and lately we've been going to a special barbecue chicken lunch and parade. We usually watch some kind of fireworks display, and when we were kids we used to dance around the front yard with our sparklers when it got dark. Ahhh, what fun memories. Oh, and here's the song...

Morning everyone! :D Ooooo I have had a quick glance already and I love it, Kiki and Sandy I see you've included some info for me, folks anything, I want to learn all about your little quirks, things in your life that make you Americans! And proud...

I love Scotland, because it is a nation full of the pride of its roots, and welcoming beyond any welcome you could imagine, and for me an English woman to say that, is something else, cos they don't like the English, the Battle of Bannockburn I felt a personal guilt for! I've been accepted here and it really is so wonderful I don't want to go back to *England. They've captured my heart and here it will stay.

So, tell me what is different about the State you live in, why you moved there, anything! LOL ... and shove a song in with it ;-)

Edit: * except Cornwall maybe LOL I love that place!!!!!!

EDIT: I absolutely have to come all the way out to Pennsylvania to see the street lights now and mmmm taste some pie and find that flower... you put every little detail in that had me wanting to come right there Kiki! :D
