Prince Edward Island - Canada

Omg what a beautiful place it is!!!! I came across an article about the Island in a magazine this morning whilst waiting in the doctor's surgery...there was an article all about the Island and had lots of pictures! I thought `Wow!!!! What a beautiful place!!!! I'm gonna live there one day! lol`

Does anyone live there or near there? If so, would you say that is the most beautiful Island in Canada?

There's me thinking that Wales was the most beautiful place in the world! hahahaha How wrong was I! lol Nope i am admitting that Wales isn't the most beautiful place in the world and only lately i've discovered that! lol

I live right next to PEI ... We have a few Islands here but they're all really different. PEI is tiny and the people are really friendly...

There's some really fabulous beaches but what makes it really different from the rest of the East Coast is the red soil (dirt)! I was there last Summer!

I've never been to any other Island's in Canada, other than PEI.

The other ones I know of (that people habitat) are the province of Newfoundland, Victoria in British Columbia and a bunch of Islands in the North...

PEI would probably be my choice though since I love the East Coast and it's more accessible than Newfoundland.

I loved Anne of Green Gables. Canada is beautiful. No doubt one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. They seem to take much more pride there than in the states, and thats coming from a New York State gal. Even up in Niagra, the difference was amazing. Canada side was so clean and gorgeous...NY side so yucky and well...yucky. lol Hope you get your wish to go there one day WG.

Nova Scotia is amazing.............

I never knew how much I liked this place until I left it. People are just really friendly, it's well kept (clean) ... The weather is pretty decent, even the winters seem better than Central Canada

The only draw-back is if you're someone who likes there to be "lots to do" ... If you're not into the outdoors, or attending festivals or ... umm... If you don't like drinking beer... It might be 'boring' for some!

I don't know what it's like there but really, each Province only has one or two "big cities" ... Charlottetown is likely the biggest in PEI with around 40,000....

Halifax is the biggest in Nova Scotia with around 400,000 ....Comparable to Toronto with 4 million....

Just depends what you like. But in general: Everyone is VERY friendly, welcoming and have good "small town" values. (of course, this is a generalization) ... It's a scenic place where things move at a slower pace than in a heavily populated area...

Oh yes i would so love to attend festivals, and love the outdoors and i enjoy beer! hahahaha It sure sounds like my cup of tea.

To be honest, i find Wales has started to lose it's culture now....it wasnt how it used to be, the celebrations etc. have died down now and the people have changed...you can walk down the street and no-one will bother saying `hello` anymore.....it used to be such a friendly place but it isnt anymore. I dont like that.

I also read about Charlottetown and that seems like a beautiful place aswell.....what do you prefer Vella...Charlottetown or Prince Edward Island?

Charlottetown is *in* PEI... It's one of the 'big cities' ... lol (I laugh because it isn't BIG at all)

Did you know.. That Halifax (City in Nova Scotia) has the most bars per capita in either North America, or the world :oD

One of the most beautiful spots on the face of this earth is Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia. Granted, I still have lots of spots to see but that little nugget of pure majesty will always be on my list of beautiful places.

No need to feel like a dork. I know even less about Wales and would make the same mistake....

It really is a peaceful place. They walk slower, love longer and laugh louder.... :)

Well my kids think its a fantastic place aswell and they would love to live there with me! By the time i will graduate...they will be 16 and 14 then....so that's in 4 years time.

I am so going to work towards that dream of mine and i WILL acheive it. lol. Gonna take about 4/5 years tho but i dont mind as now i have a goal to work towards.

I think it's important to have a goal to work towards in life and nothing is impossible if you work hard at it. I know for a fact that i will have those relevant points to be able to live there.

I'm gonna take my daughter out now so will be back later!

Thankyou so much Vella for your valuable input.

Okay so how many came into this thread thinking it was about them?

I love Canada. I was at Saskatchewan 4 years ago for my friends wedding. Beautiful place, friendly people. I almost stayed. It's just the winters that put me off. He told me about a local woman who was hospitalised after being caught in a blizzard driving home and because she didn't have a mobile phone decided to risk the 10 minute walk in the equivalent of -80 temperatures taking the wind chill factor into account.

She lost 2 fingers on her left hand and needed face surgery due to frostbite. I've never complained about the British weather since.
