Thanks to the response we've received from the community we've been able to make a few projections about the upcoming blue account changes, and we're able to slightly adjust some elements of them. All of these adjustments have been chosen to meet the criteria of our needs while balanced with the wishes of the community.
We've worked very hard to come up with some small compromises, while not drastically effecting the long-term plan for SingSnap, which, in essence, is to survive and flourish. We've also come up with some new dates for the changes to take place. We hope you can appreciate these adjustments"
In a Nutshell
- Blue recording limit would be 100 recordings, a 40% increase over the old proposed limit.
- The low pricing remains in effect for all current Gold members as long as they keep their account, with a 10 day grace period to renew if they turn Blue
- The deadlines have been extended.
- Improvements / changes to the Sponsorship program will be announced in the coming days. Please save your questions about Sponsoring until then!
The Details
January 5, 2009: The Day The Price Goes Up
- The price for a Gold subscription will go up to $12 monthly and $120 annually for all NEW members to SingSnap.
- Any current Gold member account will keep their $7 / $70 pricing. This offer has no set expiration.
- Gold members who are paying the lower rate will always have a 10 day grace period to renew at the lower rate if their account turns Blue
- Blue members will see a notice on their account if they have more than 100 recordings in their account.
January 12th: The Day Some Recording Is Suspended
- Blue members who still have over 100 recordings in their account will not be able to record new songs until they have less than 100 recordings.
- Nothing will be deleted at this point.
STARTING January 19th: The Day The Recordings Are Recycled
- Blue members who still have over 100 recordings in their account will have their excess recordings moved to the Recycle Bin.
- The affected songs will be retrievable from the Recycle Bin for 30 days from the day they are moved.
- This process may take a few days to complete for all members.
STARTING February 18th: The Day The Recordings Are Deleted
- Blue member's recordings that were automatically moved to the Recycle Bin will become unavailable, as the Recycle Bins are emptied after 30 days
February 28th: The Last Day At The Old Price
- The last day Blues members who registered prior to January 6th can subscribe to the Gold Service at the lower price. As of March 1, the price will be $12 / $120 for all Blue Members
- Any Gold member paying the lower rate will keep it as long as they keep their Gold status. This offer has no set expiration.
- Gold members who are paying the lower rate will always have a 10 day grace period to renew at the lower rate if their account turns Blue

I appreciate all your hard work that you do for making this better. I was kidding about being a millionaire. but seriously you should be just for inventing this place. But my comment was more in mocking those that say this over and over and over again about you making money from this site. It takes a lot of money to run a business and you always lose money the first few years but then it will balance out and you will start to gain back what you lose out on and after a few more years you will maybe make profit from it. Thats what people dont realize until they try to start a business of their own.

Bravo Trevor! Thank you so much for taking so much time to listen, find compromises and continue to give us this brilliant environment to play in. I'm deeply ashamed at some of the things that were said , but I hope you realise the majority of us would never say or think such things. It's clear you are trying very hard to be fair to everyone, whilst giving Singsnap a viable future. Hopefully this will make it clear to everyone what the situation is and we will get some more reasonable reactions.

Thank you, and this sounds fair. I hope people also realize this does not state you are making an *INDEFINATE PROMISE* rates will NEVER go up in the future. It's stated clearly. "NO set expiration date". Glad you are tough enough to come out of that "other thread" good natured ! Some of us were vicariously getting an ulcer..LOL

As I have said before where can a person go for $7.00 a month and have this much fun, and I think everyone does have fun are they wouldn't keep coming to this site. And just where does a person go to get something for free any longer? Very few that I know of.. and that ppl from all over the world can come together as we do In SingSnap.
Thanks again for having a place that I can come to when stress tunes in and forget about everything but singing.

No, it's not a mistake, no need for proof reading. If you read it carefully, Trevor is quite correct. january 5 is the date the price goes up for anyone new joining the site....but from March 1, the price will go up for ALL blues...so if you are a current blue member, you have until 29 February to go gold.

That's a good start Trevor...I know the main bone of contention was the amount of recording storage available for blues & any increase is welcome....I still feel that there's a better way than this though...ideally a small fee for extra storage...so many people have so many special recordings they don't want to lose & if, before the final cut off date for deletion, you can come up with some way to help people continue to have their cherished recordings here still then I know you'll restore a LOT of the goodwill that was damaged this week :)))))
We're all sorry to hear that SS has been making a loss, but I'm sure this was always built into your business plan & I'm equally sure that as the site improves & continues to improve then that loss will be overturned & you'll start to make the profit that you deserve to have for creating this incredible site :)

That date is for blue members who register prior to January 5th the newer members that register on January 5th or later will basically be subject to the new price once they register.

When i discovered singing on the internet, first on "Singshot" then I moved to "Singsnap", I found a marvellous source of entertainment, which I enjoy so very much. A relaxing form of entertainment, and a way to meet and communicate with other music lovers, from all over the globe. Some people enjoy playing golf, which is rather expensive. I,m not a wealthy man, but I,m prepared to pay my tuition to continue enjoying this form of entertainment."

All I know is, something great as this site is, is hard to find for free. I am glad I can efford $700 a month to save my songs for ya and I appreciate this site because I love and appreciate everyone here that shares their wonderful tallent with us ;D All I would like more on here is for a place to put our open duets so they wouldn't be on the same page as our songs ;D Love to SS team and its members!!!! This is an awesome site due to the members currently here, blue and gold. We must never lose sight of that.
As for customer service, one thing is lacking. The ability to show or tell when an existing gold account will expire. Also, why do one month sponsorships automatically get billed for additional months?
Is the company publicly traded? If so, would stock purchases be available to members? If not, is there a way to invest to help maintain viability?

I have seen several sites of this style online... first let me address the slander slingers. ANYONE who thinks this site is doing wrong... log off.. and sit in silence with the lights off... cause you are already thinking in the dark!
This site has the largest song list availabble!
This site offers FREE more songs than any other site!
(I was content with the 70 song limit.. HA! thanks for the bump to 100!)
customer service responce time is under an hour!
(I am still waiting for two different replies from a compeditor.. going on three days!)
the features available are hands down the best! Duet singing is revolutionary! No compeditor can boast such a feature!
the comunity is excellent.. helpful.. friendly.. and just plain cool to be a pert of!
the sponsor feature... just genius! I got upgraded on another site from a fan.. but here.. it's actually set into the pages... very cool!
now... buisness is buisness...
due to record companies hatred of online plays... they hit these sites hard with fees per play! so.. you sing a song.. this site foots a bill!
I see very few adds bogging down the site... gold membership will keep this to a minimum!
in this day and age.. I see many many home singers... and this type of site is great for anyone to jump into the limelight at just a click of a mouse!
the reforming doesn't truly hurt anyone...
if you are blue... stay blue... and figure out what songs you don't really like in your list.. seriously.. if you have over 100 songs... you love the site... pay for it! and keep going strong!
if you are gold already... man... no worries... you are locked in... you are all happy campers!
and if you want to upgrade and miss the deadline... again... seriously... $7.. $12.. it' all just short money in the greater scheme of things!
me.. i am hitting contests... perhaps i win gold membership.. if not.. ahh.. there's always another one right!
so... enjoy the site... love the staff... and sing the songs...
if you have bad things to say... keep them to yourself... you are not thinking clearly.. and don't truly know the depth of what it takes to run a site of this magnatude!

I already Deleted my 1998 songs, 70 or 100 don't really matter to me i guess, Not going to sing any new ones cuz it'll be too hard to pick n choose when i hit 100. Ohhhh well life goes on. was fun for awhile anyway.

Trevor..the 100 recordings for BLUE members are a tad more generous than the 70....BUT the 40+ days from now until the recycle bin is emptied that i read?..will probably be the BEST NEWS here for BLUE members
For me the timeframe and removal of BLUE members recordings was a sour point....I`m happy to see that you appear to give people more time to make their own decisions...allthough this would have probably been the case,but many were confused as to the wording
Good move on your part....i believe this will satisfy many,both BLUE and GOLD.
I will endeavour to support you and Singsnap as long as i feel you are being fair to all...
