It would have to be in Vegas. Flights to Vegas are always cheap...

I am soooo for this!!!!! Have been to a couple of regional singsnap parties and what fun!! While I would love to have it in Florida...maybe Orlando...it does make since to have it somewhere that would be easy for some of the people outside the US to attend.....so therefore I would vote for New York......or maybe Boston......hope this comes to be...I would just love it!!!!!!!

I think there might have to be 2 Parties.... East Coast for all the UK, Euro, and E. Canada and E of Mississippi crowd...and West Coast (Las Vegas?) for the Hawaiian, Philipines, Asian/ Malaysian and W. of Mississipi and W. Canada, Alaskan peeps.

But those who have the big bucks could attend both....UNLESS it was on the SAME DAY and kind of on a Satellite Feed...or something like teleconferenced....so we could sort of see everyone from everywhere......Singing, dancing, food, drinks..oh yeah!

heres an idea- have multiple conventions- all over! do a convention tour! this thread needs more advertisements so people can find this so they know about it- alot of singsnappers dont even have a clue this is being asked- i told a few people and they were blown away and loved the idea- one of them told me branson, MO.

Vegas would be fun but have never been to NYC or Boston.

If its in the winter, a warm weather climate is the most logical place. If its summer it would not matter.

Canada would be nice too. I have been to Niagra Falls but thats as deep as I got in.

What about the Great State of Texas LOL?? Right smack in the middle of everything! Dallas, Tx would be a good spot too cuz there is all kinds of museums, hotels, Six Flags & Hurricane Harbor( Water park).We've got all kinds of entertainment stuff to do around here. Put putt with car racing etc .. Heck I even know an awesome KJ that has an extremely large collection of karaoke and is always up to date with the new stuff. If it came out today, he has it! He's also a fun guy! He's a personal friend of mine and I am sure he would be glad to KJ for us! :)
Just a suggestion but I know I would love to go. Doubt that I can go anywhere outside of Texas tho. My funds are limited. Sounds like a blast and hope ya'll come up with a good place to do this at! :)

Surrounding areas of Branson...Kansas, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma. Alot of people from these states come to Branson anyway and I do know alot of people there and could definately get one or more of them to host something like that for us!! just a thought.

Branson could be a great place to host a Convention they have One of the largest convention centers in the mid-west region More Hotels than Vegas and it is Known as the Entertainment Capital (theme parks, Lakes, music shows, god this list could go on forever)

I think they need to get a SS bus and go on a road trip ..SS coming to your town type of deal and hit up the major towns. I attended a Three day Beatlefest in Vegas and it is held at various cities. This might be the way to go. Say: Vegas, Chicago, and New York or Orlando. The Beatlefest has been a hit since it originated back in the 60s, I understand. There must be some type of program set up for different segments of a convention such as:Souvenirs, memorabilia, possible even guest speakers and special guests such as entertainer. Local radio could help by hosting it,to give it some muscle.
Im sure SS people would come up with the right ingredients to make it an event that would continue on for years to come.
In Vegas, you could probably put together a package deal like what was done with Beatlemania.

To bring in music entertainers such as oldie groups or whatever genre group or music artist would be the clincher.

Well like everyone else we would have location issues as well. We are Northwest so North Cali, LV, Utah, Washington State, Oregon and *maybe* as far east as Branson and as far south as Las Vegas. The satellite feed idea sounds like a good idea too :)

Frankly, I think if you are really interested, one of the best ways to get it started is to begin small and build up... just like the site did in the beginning.

Sometimes we get several "thinkers", but not many who want to plan it out.

I think someone needs to take it upon themselves to organize a local party. For instance, if you live in the US, start with your home state or include surrounding states and have a party. In the UK it could be by country or area. New Zealand, Phillipines and Australia could be the same way, or simply by convernience. Anything within a days drive is reasonable to begin with.

You could do this easily by posting the invitations on the site (with Trevors permission, of course). Someone has to plan it and get a feel for how many people would attend, then of course you'd want a non-refundable entry fee to pay for the convention hall or event center. Depending upon the response, block off "x" amount of rooms in 3-4 area hotels with a variety of rates.

I bet if someone on the site, in your local area, (and I'm stalking to the general population on SS - not just you Wooden), deals with marketing & events or a travel agency, they could probably get this started through their knowledge and connections.

The point is, if you start with a smaller group, they will all bind together to make the next event larger by expanding the area because of the fun they had at the last get-together. Before you know it, while the plans are still being drawn up for the big party, smaller groups would have already formed and started spreading the enthusiasm around to others.

I think it could be a blast whether you go big or small. I'd attend ( a firm yes vote) if it was near enough for a weekend blitz and could be done reasonably, beyond that will take planning because of the family, (but could still possibly be a yes).

Ok, this is a top idea. As far as flights from the UK are concerned probably the best venues are NYC or Florida (Orlando) plenty of flights from most UK airports to those locations.

Having said that I would go anywhere in the states if a Sing Snap convention was organised.

I would suggest those in neighboring states test the waters there...I'm in Mississippi...so, anyone in AL, TN, AR, LA, & MS, or anywhere in the southeast could get something started at a good location...I would suggest the MS Gulf Coast....there are lots of Casinos, convention centers, restrarunts, etcs. there...That's about all there is after Katrina..and it's all new..low crime, too. I don't live on the Coast, so not familiar with details..but, I'd go there, for sure!! But, I'm open to anything in the Southeast.....
