**The Snap Factor 3 ~ ROUND 1**

Welcome to ROUND 1 of the Snap Factor 3! :)

Lots of people signed up, 118 infact, and I'm really looking forward to how all of this will go. You have been split into groups, you can find out which group you're in in my second post. At the end of the round you will be VOTING on your group's entries(unless I say otherwise), please read below to see how to vote. 18 people will leave after the danger zone, two from each group except for Group 9 and 10 who will lose 1.

Round 1's theme is GETTING TO KNOW YOU. This theme is relatively straightforward - some of you will be spending quite some time in this contest, so let's get to know each other a bit, and get a good healthy competition going.

You should sing a song which you feel suits you in some way... if you were a romantic you might sing a love song. If you're a happy person, you might sing a happy song.. or perhaps the lyrics just seem to talk about you. Explaining why you relate to the song, in the comment box of your recording, might help, but it's optional. Also feel free to include any interesting info about yourself there too! To post your song simply copy the website link in the top of your saved song, and then paste it here.

My advice is to choose a song which not only fits your personality but you enjoy singing, and it shows that you enjoy singing it in the way we hear it. Try not to have excess sound distortion (eg crunchy louder notes or static), try to make sure the music and vocal mix is relatively even. There's no prize for being first to enter, just make sure your entry is before the deadline.

VOTING - IMPORTANT READ

You will be voting on your own group, most points to the best and least to the worst. Please vote fairly and honestly appraising each individual entry in your group or it won't work :) Commenting is recommended on at least your group, it's just polite if you're going to listen.
Please private message (PM) all your votes to me :
- when all your group's entries are in
- or at the end of a round, even if all the entries aren't in from your group, you may still need to vote. I will always announce the end of a round so check the thread but it will be the same as whatever the deadline is :)

If there were, let's say, 5 people in a group, and for the purposes of an example, let's pretend they are:

Snap_Factor
Daniella
Michaela
Christina
Banana

I would then submit votes like this:

Daniella - 4 (Best)
Michaela - 3
Christina - 2
Banana - 1 (Worst)

Do NOT vote on yourself.
Now remember this is all relative. So the person scoring in bottom in 1 group might actually have done pretty good, you'll find that could happen after the first couple of rounds.

The bottom 2/3 scorers will enter the danger zone and must sing for survival there! However the judges alone will decide who leaves from there. Failure to vote automatically places you in the danger zone.

Good reasons to vote someone highly:
- you thought they gave the best all round performance
- you thought their singing was top notch with little objective flaws eg timing flubs tuning issues
- you really enjoyed listening to them IN THIS ROUND (very important you listen each round, people can vary and some have bad rounds etc!)

Good reasons to vote someone lowly:
- you thought they didn't do quite as well as the others
- it was perhaps lacking in basics or wasn't a good song choice for their voice
- it wasn't the most enjoyable listen

Bad reasons to vote someone highly:
- they're my best friend (now if they sung the best objectively then fine, just be careful)
- I like their name
- they did well in round 1, so now we're in round 4 i'll just go with what I thought then

Bad reasons to vote someone lowly:
- they're annoying (it's a singing contest not a personal vendetta contest)
- I want to get rid of the strongest singers so I don't have to face them later
- I just "know" they voted me lowly in another round

There are also a couple of neutral reasons (like no comments, when really you should be commenting those you're voting on), but you get the general idea. Just be fair to everyone :)

The Rules:
1. Please keep to all deadlines. No entry = automatic elimination. No voting will NOT be an automatic DQ, but you will automatically be put in sing off. Failure to vote 3 times WILL result in DQ though.
2. No pre records (unless part of alternative solution)
3. Extensions/alternative solution will be granted for good reasons only, but don't be afraid to ask.
4. If you disagree with mine or a judges decision then please take it into PM and not shout off on the boards. Any unjust arguing may result in a disqualification.
5. Only songs which are in the SingSnap library are allowed.
6. Key changer will be allowed if you are a gold member.
7. Harmonies, echo, reverb etc ARE allowed.
8. Please don't post anything obscene/disturbing, as this is a child
friendly site

Think eurovision... (sort of)

one person gets 10, one gets 9, one gets 8, one gets 7, one gets 6, one gets 5, one gets 4, one gets 3, one gets 2, one gets 1. Nobody gets 0

obviously groups with 12 have an extra person to consider so top score is 11 there.
