I never used to sing on cam, but when I watched others and their expressions whilst singing, I just found it more enjoyable to listen and watch. And when it's a funny song, watching people being silly just brings a smile to my face. If you understand what I'm trying to say.......

I understand what you mean Jubi. My problem is, I can't sing after 10pm here, have to think about one of my neighbours that goes to bed at that time, they don't live here, just on vacation for a few months and the walls are like paper in these apartments. When I'm in the Uk, I can sing all night long, no neighbours there.

So it's a case of having the nice sunny weather and not singing late or singing all night long in the cold damp weather. Oh well, can't win them all........

I need to look at some sort of programme that I could use for nice effects on cam. I used to have soft cam, but that just showed what was on your desk top, I think. Can't really remember what it did now lol........

Awwwww Jubi your such a lovely person, inside and out.

The person that really gave me confidence to go on cam was Mandy. Mandy never said anything to me but I watched her on cam. Whether it's a sad song or a funny song etc, I could just see the emocion and meaning that Mandy puts into any song she sings, and she really makes me laugh when she does funny songs. It's just like it's all natural.

I'm getting my words all muddled up now. I can't put into words what I'm trying to say. Doesn't take much does it lol.......

Mandy. Isn't Nerja a tad further south from me. I will have to google earth it. I've been chatting to a guy from Mojacar, that's further south, about 2 hours drive from me. He's going to Alicante on wednesday with a friend, to a motorbike shop. As you know, Alicante is about 40 mins drive north from me. He's staying in Alicante with his friend till friday. He wants us to meet up on friday, on his way back home. We've chatted on mic and seen each other on cam, so no terrific shock lol. Just going to see how it goes.

Going to look on google earth now for Nerja, see where it is.

Found Nerja, not that far from Malaga. The guy I'm chatting to drives down from Mojacar (that's not too far from Nerja) to Gibralta all the time. Let me know what dates you're coming over Mandy. If I'm still seeing him. I'm sure he would take me down there to Nerja. It really isn't that far from where he lives.

And if I'm really good, he may even fly me out to Majorca to Santa Ponsa hahaha

His brother is staying with him for a few days. His brother is a pilot. He works for a company that hires out planes to celebrities and he flies the planes for them. Lucky sod hahaha.

I hope my luck is in this time, met too many weirdos the last 12 months. I could write a book hahaha

Mind you, this guy reminds me of a very young Alf Garnet, but he's kinda cute with it lol....................

Being a shy retiring type myself I often put something as 'video' on the record and then show a video of my twin brother. If you look carefully you will see he is dubbing it because his mouth moves a second or so out of time with the tune.

I often put pictures on the cam, mostly those days I look bad or just don't feel like being on cam. It's not a way to get views. I get the same number of views when I have a video as when it says "audio". I do it because I think it is more fun to put a picture than having no video at all. Often it is a picture of myself but sometimes a painting or a funny picture. I will continue to record the way I want :)

This keeps coming up lately...I use "video" mode because it's the only way to put a custom pic or title card in the thumbnail view of the song. I'm not trying to mislead anyone, and if they'd include the index pic in the editable recording info I'd gladly quit doing it.

Maybe that explains my high view to comment ratio, tho... people click in fervid hopes of glimpsing a middle-aged guy marooned in a cluttered computer room, sporting a wifebeater and 3 days of stubble and crooning 'I Only Have Eyes For You' as if it were a personal declaration to them only.

Then they arrive and are disgusted to find a mere still photo of some crappy old Italian painting and some dude singing Palestrina in six parts--unaccompanied and entirely off camera, if you can believe it. Of all the nerve! Guess I'd be pissed, too.

Mine shows video all the time whether or not I use the cam. I think when it is plugged in to the puter it registers as video.. No big deal to me.

I don't see the images as a lure...I see the video clicked on and absolutely nothing there but a blank screen as a lure but only if it has been done on more than a few recordings..I'm talking every single one ..

Ahhh I see...yes, I can't see why anyone would do that, unless there is some webcam software left on & it's happening by accident. I don't see the point of having loads of views on a song unless the song also has comment to go with them, because otherwise it just looks like people clicked on it, didn't like it & left! lol

There have been a few times when I had just black screen on cam. I didn't do it as a lure. I always get the same number of views even when it says Audio. I never thought people would be disappointed when there is no video. I am not much to see anyway.

What it comes down to for me is that sometimes I want to be seen and other times I want to show the pics I have collected to express the meaning of the song. This thread prompted me to recently record with a real video of myself, and the views have not been all that great. As compared to the songs using my many cam with an appopriate picture obvously has pretty good views.

Hmmmmmm does that say that people don't want to watch me sing? I hope not.

If you don't need video enabled for any of the above reasons, turning it off will make your finished recording much smaller in file size (and it will upload faster!)

If you have a cam or virtual cam software and are getting video recordings when you don't want them, try the Disable Camera checkbox at the lower right corner of the SS player. That will give you an audio-only recording (and you lose the option to take an index snapshot while saving your mix).

it has never occurred to me to look
to see if the recording is a video or an audio only
so I don't see it as 'false advertising'
since I don't base my listening on whether video is there.
If I did
I would be missing out on some wonderful singers.

To each his own. There are takers for all types. Here's my take on THIS.

I prefer people to have one or two videos in their files so I can see them singing if I want. After that, why bother doing more? IMO, the visual possiblities are underused here; with CamTwist or Webcam Max you are really only limited by your creativity. I realize that's a big stumbling block for many.

My pet peeve is the opposite of Ghost Writer's: The exact same webcam performance by Snappers every time. Different song (if you're lucky) but with the same style performance, the same camera angle, even the same clothes--spend less time singing, more time shopping. (There! 2nd snark of the day. Sure feels good!)

I would much rather look at ONE good picture--whether of the person or better yet some fitting photographic still--than the same ol same ol. Plus, as several people mentioned, you gotta account for bad hair days.

But slideshows, they rock. More more! If anyone knows anyone who is an artist in that regard, PLEASE let me know. I LOVE slideshows!

If you don't like the way you look, a cartoon frog like Cantare's works. :)

Of course in my case, if I did a ton of videos, it would attract male listeners for all the WRONG reasons. Like that Ghost Writer guy. Just kidding, dude!
