Yes. This is a spiritual question because it involves "spirits".
What is your belief in spirits? Do they exist? What are they? Do you have any form of communication with them? How does this fit with your religious or spiritual beliefs?
PLEASE no bashing or flaming. Say what you think, feel and believe please but do your best to keep judgmental attitudes in check.
I believe in angelic ministering spirits and that's it except the devil has demon spirits. God has more angels than the devil does tho. Course by saying this I'm asking for it lol
Brenda, do you think these ministering angels and demon spirits interact with us humans?
According to writings in The Bible, G-D has 2/3 of all the angels that remained faithful and only 1/3 of them fell from grace. How is that asking for it? You use The Bible as your source of belief definitions so that sounds spot on to me.
well, they've gave me a hard time over believing in miracles, signs and wonders. Jesus said, preach the gospel, heal the sick....demonstration of that is through praying for people while his spirit rests upon you. So God is a spirit and he interacts with me. On top of that, the bible says we entertain angels unaware. Sometimes they take on human form as they did in sodom and in the story of Abram and Sarah. So to me, I'm believing in the supernatural of God, and he said he sends his ministering spirits [angels] to minister to us. If your a child of God, he says these angels camp round about those that love him. So yes, we interact with them in the spirit realm, which we can't always see, but know it's there.
Demons are real as well and can manifest themselves in people. Jesus cast demons out of people all the time and ask us to do it. Preach the gospel, cast out demons, heal the sick, raise the dead. thanks for letting me respond.
Spirits, yes, ghosts (as in your dead Aunt Tilly coming back to haunt you) no.
What are they? Depends how they manifest themselves. I believe in angels, good and bad. God's angels may be around to protect or to offer comfort. Satan's have another job to do.
Do you have any form of communication with them? No, never have and don't try to either.
How does this fit with your religious or spiritual beliefs? My beliefs entirely form my thinking on the supernatural.
I agree for the most part with Brenda. IMO what people think of as ghosts or ghostly spirits are angels in one form or the other.
I never have and never will mess with a Oija board, I never have and never will attend a seance (sp??). I also won't watch movies about devil possession. I see that as opening the door and letting the evil spirits into your mind. I do believe in demon possession. And yes, all my beliefs are based on what I've been taught from the Bible.
Great discussion question Peachy. Hope you get some more responses and different takes on it.
peachygurl wrote:Yes. This is a spiritual question because it involves "spirits".
What is your belief in spirits? Spirits are all around us.
Do they exist? I do believe there is a higher force at work among us and spirits (or others) do exist.
What are they? Some are Guardians. Some are others are humans who have passed on ie ghosts.
Do you have any form of communication with them? Yes
How does this fit with your religious or spiritual beliefs? While I do not claim any religious beliefs, my spiritual beliefs are guided by the above answered questions. Personal experiences have kept me from becoming an athiest. I cannot deny that the others exist and interact with us on a regular basis. For those who pay attention, those times are more noticable. My home town has many homes that are haunted and even a hotel or two. There is also a peninsula north of my home town that is overrun with spirits/ghosts. The Guardians have intervened (for lack of a better word) from time to time, but they are not ghosts. They are something else entirely.

Cheekylilvixen going to bed early, night night! zzzzzzzzzzz ...
What is your belief in spirits?
I believe in Gods angels and in ghosts
Do they exist?
I believe they do.
What are they?
I believe that some are angels and others are earth bound spirits. Then there are those that are stuck in purgatory, waiting to be let into heaven.
Do you have any form of communication with them?
I have used a ouija board a few times growing up. As an adult, I have held one seance. Once was enough to scare the living daylights out of me LOL. I also communicate with them through my dreams. They come to me, I do not call or seek them out. I also see them when I am awake. I don't call for them, they just appear. I have been see'ing and dreaming them since I was a child( before the ouija boards and seance).
How does this fit with your religious or spiritual beliefs? I believe in God and in the Devil. I believe his angels roam the earth protecting us as much as they can without interfering. Being born on Halloween has always made me curious about the supernatural and then to top it off, I have dreams and see ghosts. I believe also that some of these ghostly spirits are Angels. I know I have 2 Guardian angels that watch over me. They take turns LOL.
I am always thirsting for knowledge of the unkown. I think the only way to let evil spirits in would be if you let them in. Without your permission, they will not bother you. Well not so much permission but if you tell them to go away, they will. I have encountered an evil spirit or two in my life. The first one was in a dream. I dreamt the devil fighting my guardian angel and my GA one. Then there was an evil spirit in my home from the cowboy days. He was an evil man and he would come into my bedroom and try to scare me. He only suceeded in scaring away the lady and her daughter.I tried talking to him but he would just give me a mean look. He came back a 3rd time and I told him to go away and that he didn't belong here anymore, in a very sturn voice. Told him his time has long past and he needed to rest in peace. Never saw him again but the Lady and the daughter, I saw them one more time and they both had big smiles. I figured I had got rid of him. Never saw the lady and the daughter again either. That was almost 3 years ago, when we first moved into this house. :)
Thank you so much everyone for sharing your thoughts, feelings and experiences. This is a topic that is very important to me and I truly am curious how others think and feel about it.
I have had so many "odd" experiences in my life that supersede what can be explained by 5 senses that I do believe in some kind of "thing" that is not of earth that is not a god or G-D. I also believe in malevolent and benevolent essences that have a variety of roles and tasks. My personal experiences seem to show that these good and bad spirits do follow the authority of someone or something. That is another of the many reasons like Cat, I can't do the atheist thing. Too much evidence there is something beyond this earthly realm that has a structure and impact.
I joke and say there are indeed guardian angels and I have personally sent at least a legion of them into early retirement.
This is lovely so far that people are being candid and not fearful with expressing what they believe and why. I appreciate that so much. There is no need to bash anyone for what they believe IMHO. This is a sharing and learning thread. At least that is what I hope it will be.
To be honest, I just don't know what is and isn't directly linked to Earth. LOL. "Spirit" or sensation created by stimulation to certain parts of our brain not understood ? house and home owner slighly on a tilted foundation ? I don't know. Phenomenon such as what twins experience ? Much of what we consider ESP or paranormal activity. I have no answers. Yet if I saw a spirit, I'D FREAK ! Does genetic or biological predisposition to areas of sensitivity mean "of earth" ? Dunno, I think it does yet I wouldn't put too much money on any of this. Thing is, after a horror movie the lights stay on and I do get scared whether I believe or not in certain ominous occult events and unknowns. Spirits and Spiritual (at least according to my understanding) are quite different by definition so while I believe spirituality to be an aspect of our emotion. The only spirits I am aware of doc said I can't drink anymore :(
(There are certain things I do know~) I do know that supposedly there were MANY MANY years that existed prior to when I was born. I haven't a clue where I was during those times.. Sometime down the road, I might or might not be leaving the earth. I will likely be leaving this type consciousness as I understand it currently, where I'll be off to *if anyplace* isn't something I have a clue about.. But PLENTY doesn't make sense... So DUNNO !!!!!!!
I have pills for these thoughts btw :) Wasn't life so much nicer when we were really young and thought God was our parents, and we didn't even get to a point where this stuff could even be questioned ? It's no wonder I went from the baby bottle, to the the booze bottle ! I want to GO BACK !!!!
Sort've like what Peachy stated in a different thread, when you start thinking about this stuff with any amount of depth, you hurt something upstairs..LOL Believing in God does help this kind of thing btw..LOL.. When viewed with NO beliefs it's scary ! We know so little regarding facts around our own existence. What DO we "KNOW" ? I don't even know what's sane to believe sometimes according to my own culture. Doubting God's existence would disqualify for becoming the president of the United States however walking down the street with Harvey my six foot invisible rabbit would qualify me for the nuthouse.
I can't drink Cat, in fact it's been 28 years since I touched the stuff... Sometimes I'd love to :) I'm forced to face, think, and feel sober now.. It sucks. LOL.. Did Casper ever make color television, Casper was a cool ghost !
It becomes tough to believe in very abstract things. Look at it this way. We are brought up believing in Santa, suddenly in our 20's some kid in our college dorm tells us there's no Santa. Next we find out "The Tooth Fairy" doesn't adhere to cost of living increases, now the hair starts thinning but no quarters under the pillow ?
How is a man supposed to know what is real these days ? <Scratching bald spot>
If it's any consolation, I am not able to drink very often anymore either. (The ulcers) So, I feel your pain. Sometimes, you just want to have a cold one.
To answer your Casper question, yes. He even came to the big screen in 1995.
As for Santa and the Tooth Fairy, I can relate. It broke my heart when I found out (earlier in age) that they didn't exist. On the flip side, I have chosen not to lie to my daughter about either one. She knows who the actors are in real life at the age of 5, so she won't be disappointed like we were.
Reality, I believe, is what we make of it. I believe that all of us are connected by some force larger than ourselves. I don't call this force a god as I don't believe it can be described in this way with any accuracy. I wasn't raised to believe in this stuff at all, but some things cannot be ignored...even if we try to ignore them. There are some benefits and some downfalls to having any of these gifts. Seeing a tragedy before it happens and not being able to do anything to stop it kinda sucks.
On the other hand, there are times when we can do something to change things. There are even times, when one can feel what others closest to them are feeling, no matter what the distance is between them. Those are the moments when that little trigger goes off and tells you to "call your mother". Sometimes it's just a feeling. Other times, there is a presentation live and in color for us to see. There are still others "that little voice" that tells you: turn that car around and go home. Do not leave the house again tonight. Stay home. You try to resist the urge, but the car somehow finds it's way to the u-turn lane and you arrive safely back at home. Later that evening, you find out that there was a terrible car accident just waiting to cross your path at a specific time on the path you would have taken. Four people die. You are not counted among the dead, because you listened to the voice and turned that car around.
Sounds spooky, I know. That is about as abstract as it gets. I cannot explain why these things happen, but they do.
Telekenesis, ESP, psychics and other wonderful things are natural gifts that we (humans) all have. Unfortunately, society conditions us early on and we tend to block these gifts. Some are gifted more than others, but they are something we all possess. All we have to do is acknowledge that the abilities are there and learn to use them...pay attention to them. I, for one, learned to listen long ago and I'm glad I did.
You mentioned some interesting things that I too believe Cat. I believe we are ALL somehow linked by something (what and how remains the question), I believe all individuals of all species share this link with others of their species. Whether or not it's Spiritual, or Spirit here on earth or elsewhere, I do not know.
While I believe life is what we make of it, and one of my philosophies has always been "The person that goes to the grave with the greatest number of happiness hours under their belt has won the meaning of life", nothing else really matters (of course it would be hoped the person inflicted no pain or discomfort upon others in the process to gain "happiness")
The problem I have with paranormal sensations and feeling that something is about to happen, or "Call so-and-so" is that in my case they are with VERY few exceptions false alarms. Sensation doesn't come to fruition.
Oh and lastly...
Sheeesh, you scared the living daylights out've me !
Ever notice how much younger Casper and Mr. McGoo look these days ? When I was 4 they looked like adults to me..Hmmmm. Even Daffy Duck looks like a spring chicken ! It sucks getting old ! Granny in the Beverly Hillbilly's fortunately looks as though she has a few years on me. Too bad that's makeup.. HAHAHA

I believe that we are spiritual beings created in the image of God, flesh, spirit and soul.
I believe that there are spirits in this world, forces used for good or evil. Biblically validated as I think you already know.
I believe that fallen angels roam about the earth and disguise themselves using whatever host will allow them. They can come in the form of a deceased loved one (and often do) to get you to delve into sorcery, astrology, seeking psychics and the like.
I believe that we have angels of God who are not our guides (that's the Holy Spirit's job) but rather our protectors and ministers that God uses.
I do not believe that all spirits are correctly identified we must discern all things. There are spirits who will lure and coerce people by their senses and convince them that they are from God and are in the will of God. They will tell you things that you want to hear. But rest assured they are not always from God
The only way to know better is to know God's character well enough to know what comes from Him and what goes against His nature.
I have seen what the world would call "aliens" I believe it to have been a demon. it's a creepy story and can be lengthy if anyone wants to know I am willing to type it out
Bodacioushahas, I for one would be extremely interested to hear of your experience. There are two fairly dramatic events of my life that prompted me to give very serious consideration to this spirit thing. If you prefer, you can PM it to me. I am aware many people believe these kinds of matters to be total bunk. In no way to I want to make you or anyone uncomfortable sharing their thoughts or experiences.
After I saw the percolator top go skimming across a formica counter as a kid during a chat about telekinesis, I don't doubt that some very different events might happen again :)

Thank you very much for your post.
no I am not embarrassed in the least. I make it a habit not to allow other people to validate me in any way shape or form.
Let me make this as short as possible.
For reasons unknown or at least not in my memory bank at the moment I found myself at 8 years old wandering around the house heading for sliding glass door that leads to the backyard.
I felt some sense of urgency but as I recall it was too cold to swim yet I was heading straight for the pool. *note here that I was a sleepwalker but this time I was fully awake, I'll explain this part later* I felt as if someone or thing was watching me. I quickly glanced around but didn't notice anything and my brother who slept out in the pool house had all his lights off and everyone else fast asleep.
I was standing at the edge of the pool looking out at the still water when I noticed a glare of what appeared to be moonlight covering a small portion of the pool. I heard an odd noise like wind but more like someone breathing hard but not inhale and exhale more like one big long breath that just rolled on and didn't stop.
I turned around and noticed this figure perched on top of my roof... I don't remember if I was frightened or not, I would think so but I think I was more intrigued. It was slim, almost like an anorexic person only there were no skeleton definitions and although it had arms and legs they had no shape and it appeared to have no gender.
The face was white brighter than I had ever seen the color before and there were two large black holes where eye sockets would be on a human. I don't recall seeing a nose or ears and the mouth was the freakiest thing because when it opened I would hear that noise of wind again.
It appeared to be rolling fire as if you had one of those fake fire logs in a miniature size and it was rotating inside of it's mouth. It never spoke to me, I couldn't even tell if it saw me because it had no eyes that I could tell. No expression nothing.
I knew enough from reading my Bible that when people were faced with demons or unknown spirits that they had to test them. I couldn't speak at all, I suppose even though I couldn't look away that I was paralyzed in fear though I don't feel anything or remember anything like that. But I couldn't speak a word, I didn't ask what it was, what it's name was or anything.
The only thing I could say "Jesus help me" honest to God truth. Immediately after I uttered that short phrase never taking my eyes off of the figure, it disappeared.
I ran inside and woke up my sister and told her what happened she said I was just imagining things while I slept walk. I knew I was awake the whole time but I guess it was enough for me to know.
Soon after that my friends and I were playing frisbee and it landed on the roof, so I climbed up the pool ladder against the pool shed and hopped that roof to the garage and then over to the main part of the house to get the frisbee. There was a weird sense of peace that came over me when I stood over that place where the spirit/thing was standing.
I have never been afraid since.
I did however have many dreams that were warnings of things to come... premonitions if you will but I don't see it that way.
CowGalDeb wrote:What a frightening thing to have happen to you as a child Renee'.......
I am glad that you related this though as people need to be aware that
(1) they need to call upon Jesus when such things do occur,
and
(2) demons do appear to others disguised as aliens
That experience made me incredibly sensitive to the world around me that is for sure.
I don't believe that psychics are from God, in fact all that sort of thing is an abomination to Him. But I do know that spiritual discernment is very real and since that event in my life something about me had changed. I can feel the presence of spirits around other people.
It's that sense of "Soemthing is not right with this person" but visually seeing nothing.
I have learned to pray for them and ask God to use me to bring about his purpose.
Countless times I have had total strangers tell me that they were drawn to me and start pouring out their heart, their deep private feelings to me claiming they have never told another soul.
This happens a lot, people are compelled. I can't explain it. It just is exactly the way I said.
Renee', I am in complete agreement with you regarding Psychics.
As for the ability to sense when something is not right with a person.. I was listening to a sermon yesterday where the Pastor described how he was literally overcome with the feeling to pray for a childhood friend who was in trouble. As it turns out, this man, who had a history of trouble (drug-related I believe it was) had a contract put out on his life. I will have to listen again to the archived sermon but long story short, the man became aware of this person who wanted to kill him and his life was saved. Perhaps what you have experienced is something similar?
As for people being drawn to you and pouring out their heart and soul, I have had the same experience during my life. Not so much in matters of faith, but where my job required me to assist and counsel others.
Question for those of you that do believe in an ability to sense things that are not fully comprehended by the 5 senses.
How is acting on something one feels compelled to do, such as reaching out to assist or counsel, different than what a psychic does? This is a genuine question and I'm not trying to say one is wrong or right for following their "inner voice" when acting on matters. I'm simply curious what others view as the difference.

One is more at being intuitive. Being able to read or pick up signs about how another person is feeling is intuitive. Women tend to be more intuitive than men. Is it any surprise that so much mystique surrounds the idea of womanhood considering this?
Attezo wrote:hmm,
I thought Spirits are not Ghosts. Ghosts are just energy and are not alive, they are like a scene in a movie, and the scene repeats itself.
The words "ghost" and "spirit" can be used interchangeably when talking about an energy or the spirit of the dead. Religiously, spirit is used more often but still interchangeable: Holy Ghost, Holy Spirit
This might seem kind of random, but the way the title was phrased made me think of Carl Sagan's "Contact." Good book/film.
I believe that everyone is psychic. One, with skills can develope his psychic abilities. Some are naturally gifted and have it more than others, some don't even know they have it, but everyone is psychic!
Did u ever seen a picture of someone and u felt the picture tells more then what it shows? That's a form of psychic...It's not something you force to make it work, it happens naturally..you just feel it.

I don't see a difference.
I think when some people think of a psychic they think of the Bible when it speaks of witchcraft and divination which is much different than having psychic abilities. The bible is speaking of conjuring up spirits and following what they say rather than what God says. It has a tendency to become a sort of worship. Much different than having psychic abilities.

You mean like "a picture is worth a thousand words?" Are you sure it's not your imagination working?

I've never thought about it like this, but then again I'm not Christian.

Loving the inputs. Is triggering more and more questions that make me curious. Thank you all for sharing and please continue. You may also ask my take on things if that enters into this.
New question..... Do those of you that believe in this external influence feel the difference between "good" vs. "bad" is with intent? What I mean is if one is using influence as guidance rather than seeking it out, does that matter?

I knew someone would ask that :o) That is interesting and glad you asked. There is a difference between reality and imagination, however..yes most of these experiences can be either real or imagined. You would know which is which (in my opinion) because if it takes you more effort to 'see' or 'feel', it is more likely that you are using your imagination; the easier it is, the more likely it is to be real.

The mind is a very complex organ. Some people would know the different between what is real and what is imagined. Not all forms of imagination are voluntary. :P
Well, if you fall in love with someone...you would know it is love and not your brain playing tricks, no? :o) If you are sad, you would know that you have a sad feeling. When a psychic 'feels' something, he/she would know how likely is real or not.

That's a very personal question. I don't see the good or bad in either letting it guide you or seeking it out. (but again i say I'm not a Christian).
As with any power, I think you are doing wrong only if you seek to abuse the power.

I've know people who think they are in love with another person on a weekly bases. Love is subjective, as are emotions. (Not to mention, such things are to a certain extent within our power to control).
and a psychic can feel/think something is real, it doesn't make it necessarily so.
recommended books: Pillar of Salt: Gender, Memory, and the Perils of Looking Back by J. Haanken.
It touches on histrionic behavior, false memory, the importance of metaphor, and it touches slightly on the ghost in the machine. But for a deeper look at the ghost in the machine, this book (at least the first 5-6 chapters of it - the rest is data, data, data) is an excellent read:
The Astonishing Hypothesis: A Scientific Search for the Soul by Francis Crick
Mind you, i don't consider myself psychic, but i've been around friends who are psychic and more likely, it's not that they predict future or anything, but simply they 'read' the aura of a person and their intent is to see where one is having blocks, and help them to move on.
I've seen things happen before they happen. My children do this too. When my eldest child was young and be playing about in the neighborhood I'd think to myself.."I need to go check on him"....he'd come in and say "Mom, what do you want?"..Hmmm
These things are not something I've tried to have. It just happens.
I was so hoping someone would take these questions in this direction.
Yes. This is about spiritual or beliefs. It also is touching upon that stuff that makes us individual humans. Here are some examples to let you know what I'm meaning.
1) Some mothers are very nurturing and fit the stereotype and profile of what we tend to think of as a mother. Other are much more distant and do not have that same emotional level of involvement. Why? Aren't they both female? Aren't they both exposed to the same or at minimum similar biochemistry?
2) Some men have higher levels of testosterone than others. Some of this group of men have a high tendency towards violence and others do not. Even doing PET scans to look at brain activity, shows that there are differences in the parts of the brain that become active when exposed to stress. Why?
3) You have I'm sure met people it felt you had known forever very quickly after meeting. Neither of you know details of the other's past but you have some odd connection where you do understand each other even without words. Why? What causes this?
The complexities of what makes us human and the diversity involved is fascinating to me. I happen to have many experiences in my life that seem to defy 5 senses explanation thus making me more open to accepting there must be an external force of some sort in play.
I want to continue to encourage folks to share and allow me to keep learning. Thank you again for the respect you are all showing and the willingness to discuss.

Hotstepper, this goes far beyond any organized view or acceptance of religion to me. I don't care if you believe in nothing or if a gummy worm is your "God". I'm super curious how others respond or view this whole idea and concept of external forces as well as what they find acceptable ways of engaging it.
I'm loving the discussion. I find it unnecessary for anyone to defend what they feel, think or believe in this thread. Stating it as being yours is good a plenty for me. Point of orientation is only relative IF it is part of the fabric for why one has the point of view they do.
The complexities of what makes us human and the diversity involved is fascinating to me. I happen to have many experiences in my life that seem to defy 5 senses explanation thus making me more open to accepting there must be an external force of some sort in play.
External forces, yes, because all of our experiences make us who we are.
Internal forces because who we are is largely based on DNA.
Your first two questions are answered as such: Experience and DNA (Nature and nurture). There's nothing psychic or supernatural about this. It's just wonderful diversity.
The third question can be explained by the fact that our mind harbors information that we are not aware of but when we see something/someone we form associations and categorize without even realizing it. In the same way you can feel you know someone you never met, it is possible to hate someone you've never met. Why is either the case? Because of association.
That's the scientific answer, anyway. It might be just that simple. But I know what you mean. I have felt an other-worldly connection to others too - Kindred spirit/soul mate kind of thing. But realize this "feeling" we get - our feelings are also part of our biology. I know, it's very unromantic.
I am not religious and I've basically given up on the goal. The one thing that i DO believe in, is spirits. I do believe in the after-life and whether it be a safety blanket or not - I do believe those spirits can be given credit for a whole lot of "the unexplained."
I do believe SOME people have the ability to connect with energy. I do not believe it is in everyone of us. I believe it is a gift - one that not everyone uses or realizes they have.
I do believe we each have the ability to connect with spirits but not necessarily in the same way as those with a 'gift' - not by definition of psychic or medium or anything like that. Just on a personal level....
I have a headache.. I'll come back later when I can think. I think my spirit guides are trying to get a message through to me but I'm blocking them out ;)
peachygurl wrote: I find it unnecessary for anyone to defend what they feel, think or believe in this thread.
I'm glad you feel that way but I have experienced time and time again Christians that only want Christian advice, and Atheists that dismiss everything a religious person might say. My mentioning it was really just an attempt to be polite. :P
peachygurl wrote:Stating it as being yours is good a plenty for me. Point of orientation is only relative IF it is part of the fabric for why one has the point of view they do.
fabric of belief/disbelief covers just about everything, don't you think? Maybe I'm misinterpreting this.
HotStepper, What I mean by that last sentence of relativity is some folks use their religious beliefs as the sole earmark for defining what they think. Others that have strong religious beliefs do not.
I'm going to pick on my friend Jo (Scarlettohall) as an example. Jo is devoutly Catholic. I'm not. We have some of the most excellent in depth discussions on religion and thought processes. She and I frequently do not agree on a precept but we each respect the other enough so we can put that aside and continue to share in joyful interaction. We will agree to disagree at times and it does not change one iota her devout beliefs and the strong foundation they are for defining how she lives her life.
How that reflects in that sentence I made is this. Yes. Jo is 100% Catholic and very devout. However, her character accepts that not everyone is and she will interact with people external to her religious beliefs. Others do not show this same ability.
I am not religious and I've basically given up on the goal. The one thing that i DO believe in, is spirits. I do believe in the after-life and whether it be a safety blanket or not - I do believe those spirits can be given credit for a whole lot of "the unexplained."

Shan, I partially agree and partially disagree with what you state. I do think everyone has the ability to connect with that "energy" to some degree. I also believe some people have a greater degree of contact available to them. I think this is what you call a "gift".
I can't tell you how this stuff works because I have no flippin' idea. I also appreciate what HotStepper said about much of what happens to us being nurture/nature but beyond our conscious ken. There are theories that this resonance of energy is a means of communication. One such theory states that when that resonance is in phase, communication occurs and when it is out of phase, it causes discord in our lives. Is this correct? Heck if I know but it has enough of a hmmmmm factor where I consider it as possible if not plausible.
I'm not sure what you are referring to Peach, but it sounds a little like the idea that we share and are able to experience the memories of our ancestors because of our DNA. This is one of the explanations of the collective unconscious.
I don't believe in spirits. I am a materialist and I believe that in order for something to have conciousness and intelligence it requires a physical form.
As a young teenager I had experiences. They would happen as I was lying in bed. I would feel paralyzed, heavy, unable to move and barely able to make a noise. Breathing was even a little difficult. Then I would sense a presence and hear footsteps or breathing in the darkness of my room. I would also see things on some occasions. The things I would see would range from glimpses of montrous man shaped figures, to animals and once a small helicopter that flew around my bed. Occasionally these things would actually touch me. I spent a couple of years as a teenager being terrified of being alone at night because of these things. I thought they were demons. I never told anyone about them. Then I started having trouble at school, falling asleep a lot. I went to a sleep lab and was diagnosed with narcolepsy. The doctor prescribed me medication and asked me a number of questions including about having terrifying experiences at night. When I told him about it he explained that I was experiencing sleep paralysis and hypnagogic hallucinations that were not uncommon with narcoleptics and were a rare occurrence in the general population. Once I had that explained to me everything changed. I still had sleep paralysis occasionally and hallucinations but they were no longer terrifying, just weird. I went from monsters to plates of cookies at the end of my bed (I still reach for them everytime too...I am such a sucker).

Cheekylilvixen going to bed early, night night! zzzzzzzzzzz ...What is your belief in spirits?

DUNNO NOTHING !!!!

CatBallou hasn't felt like talking much latelyIf it's any consolation, I am not able to drink very often anymore either. (The ulcers) So, I feel your pain. Sometimes, you just want to have a cold one.
To answer your Casper question, yes. He even came to the big screen in 1995.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112642/
Oh yeah, one more thing. BOO!!!! ;)

I have seen what the world would call "aliens" I believe it to have been a demon.
it's a creepy story and can be lengthy if anyone wants to know I am willing to type it out

no I am not embarrassed in the least.
I guess that is a story for another time.

I thought Spirits are not Ghosts. Ghosts are just energy and are not alive, they are like a scene in a movie, and the scene repeats itself.

One is more at being intuitive. Being able to read or pick up signs about how another person is feeling is intuitive. Women tend to be more intuitive than men. Is it any surprise that so much mystique surrounds the idea of womanhood considering this?

(Not to mention, such things are to a certain extent within our power to control).
and a psychic can feel/think something is real, it doesn't make it necessarily so.
recommended books:
Pillar of Salt: Gender, Memory, and the Perils of Looking Back by J.

Novella .................................................................Re: Love....
There is one quote that comes to mind that pretty much sums it up...
"Everyone thinks their first love is their last love and that their last love is their first love."

Novella .................................................................As for Spirits:

I'm glad you feel that way but I have experienced time and time again Christians that only want Christian advice, and Atheists that dismiss everything a religious person might say. My mentioning it was really just an attempt to be polite. :P
fabric of belief/disbelief covers just about everything, don't you think? Maybe I'm misinterpreting this.

HotStepper,
What I mean by that last sentence of relativity is some folks use their religious beliefs as the sole earmark for defining what they think.
Hope that's a little less muddy.
