Trevor has said there "no plans" for this batch to be anything other than gold...but that doesn't mean that at some point they WON'T be available to all...they seem to be from the latest Sunfly disc, so maybe Snap have been allowed to use the tracks at a premium for now, hence Gold only??? If this is the case then maybe we can expect to see newer releases for Gold & older releases for all??

When the pay part was being discussed, I read that the pay would be for, "extras".. in addition to the current services...

Nothing was said about current services being taken away.

Maybe the site has only a licence to host songs they bought and not what others post. If you bought a Film and post it on Youtube, you would be breaking copyright law. Because you do not as an individual hold a licence to air it in a public venue.

The band playing their music over a track make's it implied permission from the band. That doesn'tviolate copyright laws. Plus, I used to be a karaoke jockey and the license fees are a once a year flat charge. It doesn't matter what is being played or what songs you have on your catalogue.

On the first page down just a way is a reply by trevor (I would quote it in here if I knew how lol) but he says that currently there are no plans to release these exclusive songs to everyone.

I have questioned the 1st singsnap band about this, they told me that they had permission from Trevor. Wether it is true or not, I have no idea.

should singsnap not receive the projected amount from gold members they targeted then the so called 20,000 prior inventory of songs can be locked in a moments notice.

given that further arm-twisting of blue accounts don't work then singsnap is more than able to put locks on the gold accounts by creating a level above gold.

singsnap is a very wonderful idea, and can be a victum of it's own success, or greed whichever may apply...or both: no one except the inner circle would never be privy to.

singsnap is a very wonderful place, i would never argue that.
wonderful does not mean that it cant become miserable enough to drive off those who contributed to that very standard.

i was going to pay for a membership, could do in the future, but prudence tells me to "wait and see". meantime airbornemom and i deleted every song we sang so therefore we certainly can not be accused of the argument of wasting server space or bandwidth.

we will check in from time to time, but the "locked songs" made us "think" and it is now safe for us to say it may be a year or two before we believe a safe and reasonable decision can be made.

having came here in the beta days, it is not the word "free" that brought us here. arm-twisting or blackmail though has risen to a level far above "free".

we have no doubt though, that the quality of the singsnap members is todate the best on the internet. that is a tribute earned by those who have help singsnap get the reputation that has. hope that does not turn to to "use to have" as people decide to leave including those trying out gold right now.

You have been singing on this site for a year this April.

What more can you ask for? And no one is making fun of the Free members. It is the free members that are whining over not being able to get MORE than they are already getting for FREE.

Please take a moment and explain what you lost! You had X amount of songs before the pay service was implemented, and you have more now. So where did you lose services?

I pay $40 a year to be a Sam's Club member, and I don't whine about those paying $100 per year for longer hours, or whatever they get for the extra $60.

This site is free for crying out loud. Use it the way it is, or pay for more benefits.

Even if they had no access to the whole Singsnap catalog, what have they lost ? Nothing. It was not theirs to loose in the first place. Instead of been grateful for getting something for free over the years, that someone else paid for. They want to bite the hand that feeds them, charming.

so you'd leave because there's 1 song that you can't sing? i personally would look at it the other way.....there's over 20,000 songs you can sing...and all for free. sorry to hear that your leaving but i for one respect your opinion.........just seems a shame that your leaving is based on not being able to sing 1 song.
