Alright all you happy peoples... here it is...
This is the first Round... all of you out there that auditioned are in for a treat... Ever since Radio began, there has been Big Band's out there playing music... some of the greats like Benny Goodman started it all. But don't get me wrong, the sound of the Big Band is still as popular today as it was 100 years ago.... take a look at some of the current Big Band singers out there like Harry Connick Jr. and Michael Buble'... so this is the genre... Big Band Era... I wanna hear you throw your full heart and soul into this one... you can rock it... you can soothe it... it don't matter... as long as I hear the sounds of the woods, strings and drums from a full orcastra in there, I'll be happy.
Now the Rules...
- Only new songs may be entered. - Each round will last for 1 week - No Bashing, Slamming, or Drama (I hate drama) - Those who do not sumbit a song in by the deadline will not go thru to the next round, but will still be allowed to suggest genres and will have a chance to vote in the Top 10 Rounds. - Judging will be done by myself, Cal-el and Michelle123... each of us will score you in the following manner...
1-10 points for being in tune with the song! 1-10 points for following the beat or spirit of the song (your emotional projection) 1-10 points for creativity in making the song their own without ruining it 1-10 points for keeping with the genre that is given. 1-10 for impressing the judges.
- This Round will last 1 week from Today... This Round will end December the 1st, at 6pm EST/SST
Let's meet our Contestants (In Alphabetical Order):

Doesn't have to be one of those bands... can be any Big Band sound... big orchastra... find a good one and let'r rip!
Actually I have a wee small question if I may? Is there a rule against resinging a song you've sung before? I don't mean submitting a prerecord, but rerecording something? I did a couple of my fave BB style songs when I first joined and might like to revisit them if poss!
ok this is tough, i dont know much music, big bands or anything, i am bad at remembering names anyway lol, but i am trying to find a slower song, i am no good at singing fast lol but yea

I've got a wee question as well... are the song choices limited to the Jazz/Big Band genre? Or just any song with orchestra sound, even if it's not listed in the Big Band genre?
Michelle123 ideas for the newsletter? let us hear you!

If you re-record it, then it is a new recording... As long as the song is "fresh" and dated 11/24 or later, you can use it.

Something like this is a great way to learn about music/genres you may not be familiar with. I find a great place to start is wikipedia.....here's a link to Big Band...
After doing research there, just search for the bands/artists on YouTube, you can find just about anything there. If you need to see the lyrics too, many can be found at...

Everyone has the chance of receiving 150 points per entry... the bottom 10 will be eliminated... but Iwas wondering... would you all like to see the scores you get when the round is over? If not, I won't post them... if so, I will... but if I do, just remember... it would be the combined score of 3 different judges... so please... if you get one the lowest scores... don't take offense or take it personally... Just try harder and keep singing... I'll take the majority vote here on this one!

I'm alright with posting the scores also. I think I've finished my song already, but I'm not sure if it qualifies, going to research the amount of instruments in the band....
