I think every blue member is a potential customer and someone mentioned in another thread that having all songs released just for gold members (re: the latest batch of new releases) is causing increased feelings of alienation and resentment among blue members - potential customers. I think the site should recognize this and ask at what point does in fact the site risk alienating potential customers and in the long run, will it be worth it?

There was never a "Blue members will always get the same songs as Gold", but I wholeheartedly agree that they shouldn't be overlooked...I see the sense in adding Gold only songs as it IS an incentive to subscribe, but similarly don't alienate the non-subscribers by having all releases as Gold only!

I notice that many (if not ALL) of the new releases are Zoom again...for all we know Zoom tracks will only ever be available to Gold members by agreement between SS & Zoom....maybe Trevor has to pay a premium to Zoom to get the tracks in the first place & thus has to recoup that by subscriptions, making it only sensible to have them as Gold only???

But don't stop releases for all please!

No offense to anyone, but considering the last 26 pages of NEW RELEASES are for Gold only, I would guess it is only for Gold. We blue members are being overlooked and we/at least I have been here for quite a while now. I understand about making money, it takes money to run the site, etc, but quite frankly find this unfair.

That is my opinion and I am entitled to it. Nothing against Trevor, Per, etc...I think you guys run a fantastic site. I just do not think it is fair to overlook those who have been here a long time just because they chose to opt out of a monthly fee, ya know?

Oh yes i do agree blue/gold or anyother color should be able to sing together. My songs are always open and i welcome anyone to sing with me. To me there is no colors only friends having a good time and enjoying themselves. After all this is what this sight is about :) hugs and have a great weekend

I'm sorry you feel that way, and usually I just lurk, but enough is enough. I know it is a bit long, but here goes…

This is in response to not only what Jellybean said (I am not trying to single anyone out), but to every Blue member complaining. Jellybean said blue members are "potential customers." I think exactly the point people need to realize, Blue members are not customers yet. I think SingSnap does an amazing job of trying to keep everyone happy, even when they aren’t always getting something in return for it. They treat all their members extremely well. Better than most places.

For instance, you go to a restaurant, and there are people handing out samples. Do you demand more and say that they are alienating their potential customers by not giving you more than a bite? No, they are doing what any good business, including SingSnap, is doing. They give you a taste, and hope that you want more. Only in SS case, they are giving you the desert and the appetizers and constantly checking to see if you are satisfied for FREE. And here people are complaining that they can’t have the steak too?

Remember, SingSnap is a business, with paid employees. Where do you think they get the money to add new songs? Or to pay the employees, the licenses, site upkeep, etc.? It is certainly not from the people demanding to get everything for free. There are even people on here that volunteer their time to help whenever, however they can.

I have heard people think that since they get on all the time and use the free services that SS is somehow in their debt. Yes there are ads you can click on so that the site can earn money. How many people ever click on them? Are these people for real? I mean they get use the service over and over again and enjoy all the benefits without lifting a finger and SingSnap owes THEM??

The economy sucks right now and whether you like it or not, SS is a business that needs money to run. If Blue members had as much as Gold, there would be no reason to pay and eventually the site would lose enough money to be shut down. So be happy that entire site hasn’t gone paid only. The logo in the corner said “Beta.” That was your clue that eventually things would change. I for one am grateful that the original stuff is still free.

Is there another site out there that you can find that gives you this much for free? I sure haven’t found it. I've looked at some of the others and only found a portion of the songs. And the only PAID site I have found that has this many songs is streamkaraoke.com. And it doesn’t have the FREE bonuses of recording your songs, or the message board, etc.

So please, Blue Members, remember that while yes, you are a potential customer, you are exactly that. Think of it as the demo version. Tervor has not lied. Everything he says you get free, you do. You just don’t get ALL of the add ons. BUT at the same time, Blue gets more here than they do anywhere else, and even if it is not all the time, we still get updates.

If you find a place that is better, by all means correct me. Then, please ...either go there, or... QUIT YOUR B******

I hope nothing I said went against any kind of PR that SingSnap is trying to do, I am just tired of people taking for granted what they had and temporarily reverting back to the 2 yr old greedy “Gimme, gimme” attitude. I know I did at first. I am just hoping that once its put it in a different perspective, then everyone will grow back up to being an adult err, well at least get past the terrible two’s ;-)

Well, let me see, it's been almost a month (May 29) since the Blues got any new songs....for all we know maybe they'll (Blues) will get them once a month, maybe never again, maybe more than once a month.... I DK and am not that concerned about it because I've got plenty left to sing of the older songs on here that are still (for how long...) avail. to Blues. And also because it looks like they're starting to release-for Gold- some of the songs I listed as ones that would get me to try the monthly gold option.

I understand about the bitching and complaining. I am just as tired of it as the next person. Especially lately, I get the impression in many ways that blue members are just not welcomed here anymore or encouraged to participate. Perhaps I am being overly sensitive but to me, it's just sad :(

I guess I just don't understand, how by adding new songs and features for Gold members, it is alienating Blue Members. We still have everything we had before, and I don't see any negativity towards blue members until someone says "what about us." It seems, as soon as there is an update on something Gold gets, then yes, they put up their defenses because they know a blue member is going to start asking when do we get something. Even then, I think the Gold isn't hateful or unsupportive, just tired of hearing it. They deserve more because they are paying. Blue isn't, its that simple.

Maybe I am on the wrong threads, but it seems to me with the exception of updates that most people are very friendly towards everyone about singing and topics. Everyone is more than willing to help out if you have a problem, cheer you up on a bad day, and check out your song and let you know what they think.

Does that make sense?

and just for the record....i am pretty sure that there will also be new songs released for non subscribing members in time...just not as regularly as gold........and rightly so.......
