please sing a song with the RNB Genre any year but this time i want you to use harmony so please submit your harmony version no pre records something fresh
thank you and congratulations..
RULES:
NO DRAMA!!!!! it will not be tolerated.. PM GABZ IF THERE ARE ANY PROBLEMS
..... I asked GABZ if i could make a new thread for him (due to his son being ill and him not having time..) so we can start a fresh page, WITHOUT negativity!!! cos it was gettin a bit tiring.. so thats why the new thread is up...
it's still GABZ COMP! he's STILL the judge and host.. i'm just giving a hand and hoping it's cool with you guys!
well I am stumped, I only really know 2 rnb songs left on snap and I already sang one of them and there is not alot of room for harmony in it. plus harmony is not my strong suit unless I really know the song well and a week isn't going to do it for me......so rather than make a complete ass of myself I am going to bow out gracefully :)
This has been really fun and I will continue to follow it to see who wins!
hahah yeah I have heard you all harmonise..lol I know when I am supposed to just throw in the towel..if it were other genres I would try but like I said RNB is not my friend, and alot of it is duets..:)
Chanda1003 wrote:hahah yeah I have heard you all harmonise..lol I know when I am supposed to just throw in the towel..if it were other genres I would try but like I said RNB is not my friend, and alot of it is duets..:)
Chanda!! NO!! RnB is not my forte either..in fact I expect Gabz made it that genre precisely because it is NOT most of our thing! He aint as green as he's cabbage looking! So we are all in the same boat!!
And you never know what will happen, so get one in!!
ugh..well the I need to find out then exactly what Gabz considers harmony then cause um I am not him he could harmonize an alley of cats and it sound good...I just don't know clearly is it the whole song..does a duet count if ya do both parts...I have people on my butt here at home too about dropping out :(
Chanda..if it's any help at all, my friend Martin (Tegga) has great trouble harmonising, (although I've heard you, and I think you're great at it, but I understand what you mean about only being able to do it when you know a song well) he asked me for my help, we went over and over the best way of approaching it, and eventually, he produced this song, I advised NOT harmonising all the way through it, but to layer and to add harmony to the end of phrases etc, to make the most of the abilities that he did have to harmonise.
I think the end result was quite outstanding, particularly as it was his first attempt at harmony with himself. See what you think:
oh bugger me! Out of 41 pages, I actually have 13 songs flagged to have a go at. One of those is a duet, 9 are what I would consider soul rather than RnB..and the three that are left are one ones I would usually attempt after several vodkas...

I don't think doing two parts of a duet would do it, unless it has harmony in it. It doesn't have to be the whole song, but you have to have harmony in it--which means you sing another note different from the melody line, but that is within the same chord.
If you have an instrument you can help yourself by playing the melody and then playing a note - usually a third or fifth interval from the melody note. On the piano a third would be the fourth half step above the note. So if you were on C the third would be E. (the four half steps include the black keys so C#,D, D# and E makes four.) You can also just do it by ear and plunk out notes until one sounds good against the original.
Alternatively, if you don't play an instrument, you can do it by ear. Sing the melody line first, and then play it back and sing along and experiment until you find something that works, and try to remember what you did. You can record your experiments and listen back to better hear where it works and where it doesn't.
not sure whats happened to this version lol some words were wrong and the 1st chorus seemed to be a bit fast
hmmmm dnt remember it being like that before...
I'd have done that one Mand, but I've done it before..and Gabz is evil and makes me do stuff I've never tried, lol
I still have no clue what to do!!
When is the deadline for this btw??
LOL mandy ive truely proper fucked this then as ive sung unfaithful before not with a harmony mind maybe i should of pushed myself
lol too dam late now x
Mand - I did the same thing. I've sung Looking In before as well. Once, like six months ago. It came to mind because I thought the melody would lend itself well to harmony. When he said no prerecords, I thought he meant not to use a prerecord and harmonize with it, but do it all fresh.
Ah well, looks like we're in the same doghouse now, lol!

LOL i dont think there was a rule to say that we cant sing a song that we have sung already longs its not a pre - record etc... but knowing Gabz he would want us to push ourselves, do something we havn't tried before.
I thought unfaithful would sound cool with harmonies so thats why i tried it, didn't really think about it till Mandy mentioned it

I think as I read it he said ANY song, this round I didnt see not sung before by you.
that I believe was a challenge itself for one round but no mention of it in other rounds.
I think its safe to sing one you already have done.
just my opinion though from his instructions
