Hi All,

I have NEVER done Karaoke before. I love to sing from my seat though, hehe. Would anyone like to share your first time stories and how you have overcome the fear factor or words of encouragement?

Thanks

Happy Singing!!!

I drank a lot of vodka..lol

I'm being serious too! I was shaking like a leaf..and it's not like it was the first time I had ever sung in public either...but I'd not done karaoke before!

My knees were knocking, I'm sure every vein on my neck was standing out for all to see..and I'm also doubly sure that my voice was cracking and popping all over the place...but I survived..and then the rush of getting a big round of applause and praise from the KJ got me hooked...and I've been doing it ever since!

..and I don't need to drink at all now ;)

Just go and sing... then go and sing... then go again and sing... those experiences will take your fears away, I promise you that, and for all you know when you are in a karaoke place/bar you can't wait to take your turn.

Cheers!

TitaPro is right.The more you do it, the easier it will get. At the end of the day, everyone is there to have fun and not to judge you. Just enjoy yourself and remember- life is too short to sit and worry about what could have been. Get out there and DO it!!!!

Good Luck!!

My guess is that once you realize most people aren't really listening or paying attention, and more concerned with matters of their own affair, it takes a lot of your nerves away. Sort of like here,lol. In the singing chat, I have seen people on cam practicing their own song whilst someone else is singing. When you first started singing from your chair, you probably thought everyone would hear you and critique you, then you realized that you might be lucky if one or two people listened. On another site I was on, for the contest song you had to have 100 plays b4 you were "officially" entered. Needless to say, you might get 35 plays with at least 20 with a good job, please listen to mine comment. So if you are worried about being a spectacle, you probably won't be, and if you are that would be good for business,lol. I imagine if Elvis came back to life and performed, the elvis impersonators would be more jealous than actual fans! I think you probably move very quickly from being afraid of being a spectacle, to "why isn't anyone listening" or "how can I be heard?"lol!

First time was in a club and got up with 3 other guys (total strangers) and sang. lol!!! That was after having many beers! lol! Had a ball though! Got invited to try karoake at the old Singshot (before it became The Sims Onstage), by an online friend at a chat forum. Was really nervous, but choose to sing a really fun song that I've always enjoyed, KING OF THE ROAD, by Roger Miller. Have always loved that song, going way back to childhood days. Really feel that performing that song, helped me relax enough to post it on line! lol Never though (a few years ago) that I would ever be singing karoake on line!!! lol! :-}

Thank you all for your great tips. I did my debut in Vegas last week! Yeah for me! I was not nervous at all and I feel like it couldn't have gone any better. I ended up doing 2 songs and one duet. It was a blast! Happy Singing Everyone!

When I first started singing on sing snap I thought I would get bad reviews on my songs. This took awhile to come over my fear of singing on sing snap. Finally just broke down and started singing on here. I still couldn't do it with someone watching me now. This is one of the reason I keep my camera off while singing on sing snap I would get distracted and mess up real bad.
