Nothing new in show tunes? They're all LIC? People are asking for them, people want them, people NEED them! Please let's have some new showtunes!!! PLEASE make a goal to release at leat one NEW showtune a week (NEW means one we don't already have, and even better NEW means from a show released in the last 20 years that wasn't some teeny-bopper TV movie)

The song "For What It's Worth", was only Written by Stephen Stills and made a hit by the Buffalo Springfield- Although Neil Young was a member I don't think David Crosby, or Graham Nash had any part of the song.. It's actually Just stills or Buffalo Springfield ( more comonly seen as writing this ).

Trevor I understand the need for positive feedback...BUT it is very disappointing to be asking for something for 4 months (June 29) and for the most part to be ignored. Aug. 4 we get a "we hope to add more showtunes in the future" with no explanation as to why they CAN'T or WON'T add them now. And now 4 months and 6 pages of pleading later

nothing significant has been added...nothing! AND no explanation as to why. We feel we are being ignored, we know they are out there. Bruce posted a site in the thread showing all the showtune collections there are out there and a simple "we can't get and use any of those because of LIC" would be sufficient to let us know that we are being heard but absolutely NOTHING can be done about the issue. Not trying to be negative but the only real genre many of us are interested in is being completely ignored without explanation. I again say that as paying customers we deserve better communication. How long does it take to explain why we are being ignored completely? I weekly rush to the new songs page only to be disappointed EVERY SINGLE WEEK! Yes it's frustrating to hear negativity each week, but it's also disappointing to your paying members to be ignored every week.

yes...great songs this week...don't know any of them (except the joseph song which isn't even classified as stage/movies)...thanks tony though for faithfully posting new songs and for giving a variety.

I'm sorry if Tony's feelings are hurt, but he is the professional...don't take it personally...it's the consumer disappointment with lack of product that serves their needs. If I am paying for a professional service I expect professional behavior and that includes communication.

A weekly reminder of our requests is not meant to hurt his feelings, just to keep the request out there. And if the request this time seems a bit more harsh it is because of the frustration of getting no response at all. A NO is better than silence.

I agree with Trevor, it must be a daunting and sometimes discouraging task Tony, trying to please everybody.

I always find a few (or more) each week, whether it be favorite song, artist, or both. Last week there were many, most of which I'd never seen here before, and I should have said so.

And, when worse comes to worse, am quite often discovering new songs among them that I fall in love with and want to learn after first listen.

I personally feel that you do a fabulous job Tony, with the varied selection you add each week. Maybe it helps that I like songs from a variety of genres and periods; so am just happy to be surprised... :)

listen trevor dude. bossman.......theres not a single song in the new additions that i will be singing.....and guess what,,i dont care.......theres still about 14.000 already in ya archives that i havent done yet......i asked you for chris de burghs into the light and flying colours tracks ages ago...and i know if and when they become available you will put them up......theres no point me keep buggin ya for them every week.....i reckon tony does a great job considering the lics etc........you just keep as you are, someday my songs will appear.....i know this......top site boss.....

I believe the site is doing ALL it can to accomodate us, because in doing-so this is favorable for all that read (non-members and current members) and new recruits hence more Gold members (either currently blue), returning as Gold, or prospective Gold.. Much time is invested in this site be owners and staff and I can imagine it is only doing the absolute best it can, in the interim assuming we wish for a particular song naturally it can't hurt to request it :)

Although I have not been very active in the recent discussion, since I started the show tunes thread, let me take a few seconds to explain. I started the thread because after months of posting show tunes requests in the song request thread I had never gotten a single reply.

Yes, everyone is thrilled by the job Trevor, Tony and the rest of the folks have done providing us with music for the site. There are many great songs and we understand the LIC issue. You guys do a fantastic job.

The problem is that, as a percentage, show tunes are a tiny, tiny fraction of the music available here. Yet this is a very popular genre. Most show tunes from contemporary shows like Rent, Wicked, The Producers and Avenue Q are available. Yet no one has ever explained why we don't seem to have any of them here.

Yes there are thousands of songs on the site, but for show tunes lovers, there are very few, probably a few hundred and almost none from modern musicals. There are more Gospel, more Latin and about 25x as many Country songs as show tunes. The official count on the site for Film/Stage/TV, 326, includes dozens of Elvis songs and TV theme songs. So, for the show tunes crowd, there's just not much out of the 14,000 songs.

There's no coordinated movement here so I have no idea what's in the minds of the others who've posted in the show tunes thread, other than what I read. But my best guess is that no ill will is meant towards anyone working here. We're just pleading our case, which hasn't seemed to be a priority. If we're mistaken, or, if you'd like some help identifying songs, let us know that.

Of course, you owe no explanation to anyone here at all. But you can't blame folks for asking.

Thanks Tony for completing the canon of Smiths songs that I've been waiting for with There Is A Light, my all-time fav Smiths song. In fact that now makes two that I haven't even had a chance to sing yet, but I'll get to them by month's end if not sooner.

With those new editions, I now have only one more I'm after to be added to the library from the Zoom catalog, Suedehead by Morrissey. After that, I'm finished waiting on the Zoom songs and will gladly use the time to catch up on the non-Zoom songs that have been around since last spring that I've yet to sing.

Should keep me busy till at least next spring, lol!

First, I would like to say Thank you to Tony for all of your hard work in bringing us new songs to sing:))))))))
Secondly, I would like to suggest something. If its not to much extra trouble to do.......make a list or reply to song requests " they are not available to get". This might ease people's minds knowing that their song request was looked at and received. Just a suggestion.

I totally agree that there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than us mere singers know about to make what we DO HAVE possible. For that... to not just Tony, but to all of you in the background power seats... I am most grateful for all the hours I am sure you put into this site.

That being said... when there is such a large outcry for a song or artist or genre that for whatever reason you cannot provide... a simple note on the home page to say just what you did above would be appreciated. Just something to let us know that we are not being ignored.

I understand, this is not possible for every single request that is made. But when you notice that one subject matter is being addressed in a multidute of threads... like the mass outcry for showtunes... I, for one, would appreciate your considering this suggestion.

For now... I am very happy to know that this is being quietly worked for us.
