Welcome everyone to the ~~~~**Holy Moses did I sing that Contest**~~~~Round #8

This round is not specific to genre. Since music is universal, I want to explore music in languages other than English for this round. I want you to learn to express yourself in another language. This skill will be needed later on, so not only is it a challenge in and of itself, it will help you in a later round.

Since I want to give you as much scope as I can, we will not assign songs this round. You may sing anything, any genre, in any language.

If there's a song on here in English and you know it was released also in French, you can sing the French lyrics to the English version of the song. So it does not have to be listed in the language you want to sing. The only limit I will put on you is that I will not allow children's songs--no frere jacques or la cucuarachas please!!

Please feel free to choose a language that you've studied before and have some familiarity as to meaning and pronunciation. You can also choose a language you know nothing about, but your task will be all that much harder. Your Mentors will help you if you need it. If we don't know the language pronunciation, we will find resources to help you. I will be posting some examples later for you. If you are in need of suggestions, please feel free to ask any one of the judges for assistance.

In addition, in your comment box, I would like a full translation, or if the song is on here in English and you are singing in another language, please post the alternate lyrics.

Et voila! Vamonos cantar!

As always bonus points for on cam work, as it always adds to the performance. Bonus points can also be given at judge's discretion for extra effort, improvement or for an especially excellent performance.

This contest is based on the following:

What we are looking for in an artist, of course the basics have to be impeccable--pitch, timing, phrasing, diction, and control (breath, vibrato)--if they are missing or are weak on one of these elements, A pro should have all these elements down pat without having to think about it.
Beyond that,we are looking for tone, range, quality of the voice, presence, and originality. We also like to see adaptability in a performer, so yeah maybe Country is your forte, but they can also adapt to fit other styles of music. Song choice is also a consideration--how well you know their strengths and limits, and how well they choose songs to showcase themselves in the best light.

As I have stated and I can not stress this enough your songs will be given Honest and fair Judgement and we will at the same time Give the goods and bads of your sing. This is not a kiddy camp and should be taken serious. There will be prises in the end and a Offer that will be annouced at a later time.

1) This round you will grade yourselves and your co team mates to see if your grasping the meaning of the things you have been learning.

2) Second part of this stage is applying what you have learned So this round I require that you as Singers spot the errors of those in your group and inform your judge in Private message so your judge can PM me the list of your thoughts and reflections of the singers… I want honesty from each of you I would rather you be truthful with each song than to try and be nice to a friend. That’s the reason its private no one but the judges knows what is being said about each in the groups sing. I don’t expect nasty comments I expect Critique in a helpful manner. What you hear that is wrong is not being hateful… so keep this in mind when critiquing your mates.

OK these are your groups and your Judges please again make sure that the tunes you post have been approved by your judge as the remaining judges will be the ones Judging your tunes not your judge… LOL I know some of you are thanking your stars eh DOH! The reason for the judges approvale is to see how much your willing to do before your song is posted to make it right this will also sway the decissions of the judges placments for next round so keep this in mind.

Rules:
1) No Pre Records
2) Have Fun Singing your hearts out
3) working with Judges keeps you alive in this contest
4) Post a song it sticks to you like glue that’s it no redos.
5) NO fussing you fuss your gone simple as that.
6) Post a comment on each and every contestant if you can make your fellow contestants feel like they are loved that important in music
7) NO yelling at me or I bite your heads off LOL that was a joke.

That’s it. Let the round begin and lets see whos gonna make the cut~!

If myself or one of our judges need an extension for the round then I will make it so. Your judges will communicate with me to keep me informed of this I like the music industry happen to believe that music is a art and you do not rush art….

Much Love To All of you!

Remember now, speak with your judges to make sure they approve the song before you post it… this is very vital to you being placed into the next round. The more you work with your judge the more you gain in the end, not just in the contest but in your singing as well.

Haha nice try Gabby, but I believe it has to be ALL in another language.

I have no problem helping out other judges here too if any of you have difficulties in some languages. My specialties are German, Italian and Latin. However I will say now that although I did french for my voice recital, I probably pronounced half of the french songs wrong b/c I could never get the understanding of it.

Diction classes and IPA only help so much!

Anna, since you always sing in a "foreign" language on ss, you can sing in your native language for this round!

That goes for anyone for whom English is a second language.

First challenge:

I learned this song as a final submission in the first contest I ever won on here--the tough chick contest, lol!
The assignment was to learn a song in Spanish that you had never sung before and sing it. I chose this devil of a tongue-twister! I may try this again and see if I can do any better, but I don't know that I can! At least I got all the words in the right place, lol!

Gotta Think On This One.

It actually easier to sing in another language than it is to speak it, so you don't necessarily have to speak a language in order to do that. Not even in high school? It was a requirement when I was growing up, lol!

Regardless, we're here to help you, so you're not on your own here!

I'm working on my pronunciation lol.....

A friend of mine here on SS actually asked me to write english lyrics for the song I'm doing, last year......

He gave me more or less the gist of the meanings and feeling of the song and I wrote them and even recorded a version....

Unfortunately it was before SS had the song and it was recorded in the "Maggie May" file which has since been eaten by the liscensing monster...

I can't find my copy of the lyrics anywhere, it's not in my lyrics files on the PC...(I had to format late last year and think I lost alot of things I thought I had backed up)

It's not with all my paper copies and now I'm sad cos it's probably lost forever........boooo hoooooo

Maybe I'll try to do it again from memory.....
