grrrr!!! Got to wait til tomorrow now! Was supposed to get a new V plus box today, but the fella didn't have one, so is bringing one round tomorrow (well, technically today)
It's more than a hobby!! It's my whole life!!!! lol
Fires of Pompeii aired here last night (no plot details yet, in deference to Bruce & those who don't get to see it yet!) & what an opulent episode!!! Filmed in Rome's Cinecitta studios on a permanent set which the BBC could NEVER have afforded to create!!
Catherine Tate continues to plaster over the cracks which some seemed to think she showed in Runaway Bride...showing more potential to become a fine companion :)
Perhaps then Miles you should open this up for more than just season 30 talk, make it entirely doctor who orientated.
and yes Donna was a little better this time for me, I think I need time to accept her in this role, (it should of been Kylie lol) and Fires of Pompeii really grabbed a hold of some past classic episodes blended with up to date CGI, I cannot wait for The Planet of the Ood!
I came downstairs the other day to find my six year old Shannon, had found a Dr. Who episode back from when William Hartnell was the doctor, on BBC four, and was sitting there quite happily watching it, even though of course it differs greatly from the kind of episode we get these days!!
And there wasn't one sign of the Doctor all the way through the programme!
That was The Daleks...the 2nd story from the very first season way back in 1963/4. Back then Doctor Who was on for over 40 weeks a year & quite often episodes would take place with one of the regular cast with either a very much reduced role, or absent altogether. However, this being merely the 2nd story, that wasn't the case this time...it was more a case of the story itself focussing on Ian's part than a conscious decision to remove William Hartnell's screentime...& they were still finding their way back then, so Ian & Barbara were as much a part of the main action as the Doctor was. Of course, as time went on the Doctor's role became even more prominent, especially when the companions started changing. One episode, from the 3rd season, actually featured neither the Doctor, the companions, nor the TARDIS! It was called Mission to the Unknown & was a prequel to the epic Daleks' Masterplan...a 12 part story which saw the death of no fewer than TWO companions! Sadly Mission & much of the Daleks' Masterplan are no longer in existence in the BBC archives...& never since has a story taken place without any of the regular cast, although the recent trend of having one "Doctor-light" epsiode per season seems to be working well...especially with last season's Blink!
Mandy wrote:Blink scared the fooking life out of all of us! Even now the kids ask if the 'angels' are going to be on the episode they are about to watch!!
Blink was AWESOME.
Brought back child hood memories of hiding behind the cushions and sofa lol
That's a shame :((( It would help if we could say more about things!!! Mind you...we don't KNOW much about some things!!! Bees????? All will undoubtedly bee-come clear!!! lol
Next week though Stevey boy.....theyyyyyyyy're back :))))))))))))))
And I must Say I d id like how Donna gave the Doctor a bit of a verbal slap down tonight, she is growing on me, well at least her character is. and I wish I could watch next weeks and the weeks to come now.
Miles did you have any luck with that other website you was looking for up there^^^^^ ?
That's as maybe....but it's been mentioned twice now in 3 episodes...& that's too much of a coincidence...especially when an upcoming episode is called The Unicorn & the Wasp!
Steve-Mercenary wrote:Yes, the Bees thing was strange?
No, they were talking about world events now.
Google it!!
Actually that is what the doctor replied to Donna in that episode, but yes I am aware that Bees are on the decline, which is why they are a protected species, well at least the humble bumble is.

Don't forget that you have a week after the episode screens to view it again on BBCi Player!
Donna didn't get the ideal start in The Runaway Bride, being maybe too abrasive...from what I've heard she has improved & will improve more!
& I LOVE the Adipose!!!!!!

One of my old faves was The keeper of Traken.
staring Tom Baker, where we also find out that the Master gains himself a new body, always loved the master, he was a fabulous villain.
Click the blue link above for a further reminder, although I doubt Miles will need a reminder though.

Click here to goto the official Doctor Who Website!
The I player is easy to find, I have read on an Australian forum that they cannot view it? But with luck maybe you can get in and watch?
And Thanks to Miles I have watched Fires of Pompeii 3 times now, and in such top quality too.
