And don't move to Vermont. Beautiful and Serene, Country, Peaceful, But you get me behind one of them drivers going through our Interstate on Vacation and they drive like turtles! Oh yeah - and the winters there are harsh! LOL

That's a big move, Donny. Ya gotta have the money to do that. Ya know, enough to get you a place to live, gets bills set up, food, transportation and enough to survive on till you guys get jobs. You will need visa's and those take time. First get info on getting visa's to move to the states and since it will take some time to get them, start saving money. Meanwhile, we can all help you figure out where you can move too. :) Gotta run, gonna be late to the dr's :)
I SURE AM BABES....... sick of england, although if kimberley hadnt thought of it then id prob have stayed the rest of my days here in angland......but now the thoughts been put into my head..i kinda like the idea....lol

Well Donny this is a giant country. There are a zillion and one places that would be perfect for you, and just as many that you might despise. I would suggest doing your homework and researching online (beyond SingSnap...lol)...comparing places to where you live now, looking up employment in those areas, etc. If you like ocean, lake, river, desert, mountains, etc....city, country...you get what I mean. The only ones that can say what would be appealing to you and your daughter are the two you. And what one of us here would say is good...another of us will put down.
Also...don't go by stereotypical impressions of places. California is NOT all Los Angeles or San Francisco. It's a huge state with every possible living style, city size, etc. And Kansas doesn't look like the place in The Wizard of Oz. LOL
Just for the heck of it...feel free to look up beautiful Lakeport, California! ;o)
JoeTomNJ is home, getting caught up on the boards.
Well, If you are serios about moving to the US Donny, Think of the things you like. Do you prefer to live somewhere that has a shoreline, or do you prefer a more interior sate to live in? Flat plains or mountains?
If you want to be near your daughters ambitions, You can concider New Jersey, we have it all (And our gas prices are below the national average)....LOL

Here in Cally I'd say you BETTER know what the terrain/elevation is. There are more micro-climates than there are stars on a clear night.
Well I live in Florida and I wouldn't recommend living here. The job market is terrible and it's very expensive to live here too.
But despite the poor economy, some cities continue to thrive. Many cities in Texas, like Dallas and San Antonio, are great for jobs and the cost of living s very reasonable. The same goes for places like Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia. The weather's also better in places like that - you'll get snow, but you won't get blizzards.

Why??? It looks like that here in Illinois too and I hate the flatness of it. There are much prettier scenes all over the US; mountains, great, beautiful lakes, oceans, etc.
I will tell you Donny, that if you are interested in Nashville, Tennessee is a beautiful State. It doesn't have the best economy, but homes are relatively inexpensive.
The mountains there are gorgeous, as are the natural lakes. If you like the outdoors, you would love Tennessee.
Upstate New York is also absolutely gorgeous. You'd be just hours outside New York City, but away from all of that crime all big cities have. New York State is where I'd like to be living, but the job market is a rough one to get into. Oh and the winter weather can be brutal. (but I love snow!)

They serve to wake up a driver who drifts off the side of the road. When you drive over the slots, it makes a loud vibrating noise. Helpful when driving on lonely deserted highways in the middle of nowhere, at night. :)

It's sure all in the eye of the beholder isn't it? I've lived lots of places, and learned to like most terrains. I've also learned that...for me....some of the most beautiful places are not the nicest places to actually live. For example, for ME, Idaho is one of the most physically gorgeous places in the states...but I could NEVER adapt to the rainfall or the cold winters there. My sister lives in the beautiful pines north of me here in California, and although her town is gorgeous, she has suffered so badly with allergies she had to move out and into a newer, sunnier, mold-free home. Ya just never know.
I lived in the desert a few times. Some people might ask 'whyyyy?'. I LOVED it!

Just some thoughts.
Tennessee has it's ups and downs. It for the most part is a very beautiful state. Then again you have the slum part as of which I am sure they have in every place you could go. Location is key for ANY place in the US. I will say, as far as the view goes, East Tennessee has the most spectacular views for the outdoor types. If you ever do make it to Tennessee you at least need to go check out Chattanooga.
As far as where I live in Tennessee. I am an hour or so south of Nashville. I like the laid back living of here but the fact of Nashville just being an hours drive away is nice as well. The jobs here are few and far between (depending on your type of work) where I live so my husband does have to drive back and forth to Nashville every day but we are far enough out of the city where we don't have to worry so much about the crime here.
My favorite terrain by far is rolling hills. They tend to drop down into lovely valleys, and climb up to snowy mounain tops. Often there's a lake or river to be enjoyed.
