I've noticed there are many different threads in this section of the message board about BBC, HTML, and CSS. If I were not familiar with what theses things are I would pull my hair out...lol. ;)
I'm starting this thread to try to help people new to this site, computers, and the Internet. Please, contribute here if you can help to clear up confusion. Those who are in need of help are welcome to ask questions here.
Here are some brief explanations on the different codes to get the ball rolling.
BBC (Bulletin Board Code) is code just for a message board like this one. There are many 'test' threads out there you can use to practice the codes. BBC code is similar to HTML but the 'brackets' used are different. While HTML uses < >, BBC code uses [ ].
HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) code can be used to add things to your profile page, like graphics, to comment on other member's recordings, and in private messages to other members. There are a great many sites which will help you learn how to put a graphic or change font (style, color, size, etc.) using HTML. A lot of free graphic sites will even provide you with the code you need to post a graphic. This is called an embed code.
CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) is a special code written to alter elements of a page on the Internet (like a SingSnap profile page). This is the trickiest of all to learn. Again, there are a great many sites out there (Google CSS tutorial and you will see) which can help you better understand what CSS is and what you can do with it. For those who would like a pre-made CSS theme, check out my other thread "Themes by Shanda AKA Geek Girl". If you'd like to see what can be done with CSS check out my profile: http://singsnap.com/snap/member/shandakr
Please, if you have any questions relating to BBC, HTML, or CSS ask them here and I, and hopefully, other members will do our best to help you. :)

Hi there - appreciate the offer of help. I want to "pimp my page" as it were, so I found a site that offers a code to copy. That's great but I just can't find a place on my page to embed the code. Can you be specific please? i appreciate any help you can offer!! Thanks a bunch, Kay

You copy the code in the Personal Info: if your doing your profile and then be sure to update the lil green button...
if your doing a song you do it in the same place when you Edit song information....
G'luck
