I wonder if it would be possible to have an 'x' forum for those who do not want be labelled 'believer or non-believer'?

I have never been able to get my head around that. How can a person who doesnt have any religious beliefs be a non-believer? The very term gives validity to the notion itself whatever that may be.

For example, if I came up with the idea that it was ok to soak my head in apple vinegar would someone who didnt want to do that be a 'non-believer in soaking ones head in apple vinegar'?

No, the term 'non-believer' is definitely couched in a way that makes the person accused as such feel they have yet to be rescued. Hogwash.

And I dont want to be 'labelled' agnostic or atheist or any other descriptive term like that. In fact, I think, henceforth I will be like the singer 'Prince' and be a squiggle formerly known as 'kerj'

And this must be deleted but please, not moved to the 'beliefs' thread..because I dont want to have any belief!

On second thoughts, more poignant for Singsnap, I will be the 'sound' formerly known as kerj. If you click on any of my songs you will just hear a kind of abrupt 'ugh' sound.

* Edited because the 'ugh' sound wasnt quite right. I'm changing it to a more elongated 'uugh' sound

I completely understand you Ker. I was watching a Spanish movie a few nights ago that was set in a 1950s rural community. One woman said of another who had been living there for a about a year, “She is a Witch because she has never been to Mass”.

That is so funny. I can really see it. Actually, it reminds me very much of what happened to me in the village where I have a small house in rural Spain: When I was down there in September there was a procession to take a cross from the village up to the chapel on top of the hill. It happens every year. Well we went to watch it for about ten minutes and then walked away.

I mean what happens is, the people in the village carry the cross..and take it to the chapel at the top of the hill. There are no street jugglers or people selling popcorn or anything.

Anyway, I walked into the nearest empty bar and the owner's wife asked if I had seen the procession. I said, 'Yes but it got a bit boring after ten minutes, I was hungry and thirsty so came in here."

Well ...it was like those cartoon pictures you get where someone has their head stood up on end after seeing or hearing something shocking. I might have well have said I was planning on robbing everyone's house while they were out on the march.

(Actually with my Spanish as poor as it is I may have said that).

Can I adopt your uugh sound? Get my own squiggle? How, exactly, does this work? Maybe I should make mine more of an uuuugh...with more U's?

Wait, are we forming a union?

OH! I think I'll be more of an errrrrgh. Yeah. That's it....fits me quite well.

As far as this thread being deleted, or moved; I'd rather see it stay right where it's at!

Or like Ker said, (tongue in cheek as it may be) give us our own folder. X. I like it.

ker, most athiests posters on the beliefs board just accept the semantics involved and take it on the chin, but you are correct....it is a bit derrogatory...as well as the term "saved".....i dont like that term at all....because an entity, human or devine decides not to kill you doesnt exactly qualify as "saved".....there are a load of underhanded terms like that...."unfaithful" is another one...heck i have lots of faith, ...........in science.

...but like i said, most of the regular "unfaithful" posters on the beliefs board just accept the terms that are thrown around.....afterall, you gotta realize that the "faithful" who will be "saved" dont even understand they are doing what they are doing.....it doesnt bother me so much anymore really.....i dont believe in magic, and when talking to people who do, its best to just let them be....they wont "get it" anyways....and thats my honest opinion

I am just designing mine at the moment; I have a mental picture of it formed in my mind’s eye. I need to realise the conceptual into the actual...It begins with a energetic flourish, continues eagerly with good intentions and then follows a brief interlude of self-willed promise that cumulates in a prophetic and rather pathetic droop. :)

Cheat! You saw that in the Tate Modern Gallery! I noticed it too last time I was in there and pointed it out to the attendant. He told me it was actually just a paint run from when they had re-decorated the place in purple heeeeuwze.

I'm sure psychologists would have a field day looking at some of these squiggles. The very fact that I had to have my own squiggle designed for me suggests maybe umm a deep-rooted fascination with idleness.

Your own one though Shanda (or should i now call you }{ ?), looks like a kind of yin and yan of squiggles. Two lovers forever entwined by the merest of squiggles and a hint of ink-flip cord.

A kind of 'imploded' Dr Whoesque artifact dreams store. Would they see themselves inside a bigger world via the contortion of the glass or would suddenly everything become merely larger than life?

Let me see if I can help you. The first part I picture as in the heraldic style, something rampant on azure. The next part to express eagerness and good intentions...something that depicts the cartoon roadrunner..meep meep!...Thirdly, self-willed promise, I am thinking, George.W. Bush. And lastly prophetic and pathetic droop...maybe Clinton?

ShyLynn happy thanksgiving. happy anniversary tanya and t!!

I have laughed more than once reading this thread. Not AT anyone but at the humour.

THIS Christian wants to make it known that I'm not overly fond of the term "unbeliever" either.

I don't call myself a believer nor do I say I'm "saved". I really do not like that expression.

So it's not everyone.
