From "Christmas Cheers" No-5,
It was about 10 years ago, i've known a great male friend, Mr. Li, we were very close family friends since, Li's birthday falls on Xmas day Dec 25th. we had great times together each year, it was double celebrations, Li' died of illness 2 years ago....Xmas is never like before, Sigh.....
Michelle123 ideas for the newsletter? let us hear you!
The reason I chose this song is two-fold...
First, my brother, who just completed his second tour in Iraq, will finally be in the states for the holidays. He will not, however, be able to make it back home with his family due to his military obligations. He will be missed, and we will be thinking of him during this Christmas season.
Second, when my grandmother passed away, it was just a few weeks before Christmas. I was quite close to her, and I think of her often.
The reason this song is so special to me is because when I was 20 years old I lost a daughter two months before christmas and everytime I heard this song over the years it makes me think of her :)
MY SONG CHOICE IS EASY "WHITE CHRISTMAS" ALL OUR CHRISTMASES WERE WHITE TO ME AS THEY WERE MADE THAT WAY BY OUR MUM WHO GAVE EVERYTHING TO MAKE SURE WE HAD A FANTASTIC TIME. After being raised in a loving Christian home I proceeded to live my next 20+ years in the world on my own terms. On Oct.28th 2001 I returned to my roots, rededicated my life and accepted Jesus as my Savior. That following Christmas was like seeing everything through a child's eyes. Watching my children in our Christmas play at church...I can't explain how I felt! But that Holy night that God presented the world with the most precious gift...His son, is what inspired this song and that's why it is my favorite!!!
My song choice is I'll be home for Christmas, I have always loved this song, but this year its kinda bitter sweet and I had a tough time singing it, normally all three of my kids are home for the holidays, so I feel HOME IS WHERE THE HEART is....but My oldest daughter Kristina is still in Afghanistan and this Christmas is gonna be tough without her.
This is going to sound sooooooooo stupid...but the best Christmas EVER was the Christmas my ex left me for his best friends wife! He left us on Christmas day...the reason it was the best ever is because I learned a lot about myself that year...that i was a strong woman...stronger than i ever knew that i was...and God brought me 2 more kids that year...actually it was 5 months before that...but on Christmas Eve the judge said they could stay with me until they got tired of me or they grew up! so...they stayed with me til they grew up i don't talk to one of them anymore her life took a different direction...but i still talk to my stephanie...and she has given me 2 beautiful grandchildren...so when someone asks me how many kids i have i say 8...
being a single parent is a hard thing to do even with the father being somewhat comatose in your children's lives...my children all but 2 are grown now...but would rather spend Christmas at my house because it is a celebration of life NOT GIFTS & how much beer we have!
We our traditions that my new husband has gladly joined with us...we all YES ALL 8 OF US AND THE 2 GRANDKIDS...so that would be 12 of us go and pick out an ornament for our tree every year...seems petty...but the kids are always asking when are we going when are we going??? my 23 year old son drives down here just to do that! now tell me how something so simple can mean so much!?
some fathers and some mothers aren't in their childrens lives...a very sad thing..but for my kids they have been dealing with that their entire lives...for one holiday they are happy! and not because they got gifts...believe me...they don't get that much...because it's not about the gifts...it's about OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST and His birth!!!!
there is no way to cheer someone up during holidays...showing your love for EVERYONE is not just a holiday thing...IT IS AN EVERYDAY thing!!!!!!!!! showing your heart by your actions makes this world a better place...an irish saying...if you can see the heart through the eyes you have found a genuine diamond in the rough!

Thanks for passing me thru to Rd. 6, awesome! Here's my entry Winter Wonderland http://www.singnsnap.com/snap/r/b4d823b0 The reason I chose this song is that it reminds me of my carefree childhood in Ohio, playing in the snow! When the only thing we worried about was if our feet or nose got too wet, cold or numb! This song brings back those feelings of Christmas wonder, fantasy of childhood folklore & gets me wishing I could drop back into that just for one day to feel that amazing joyfulness! I now live on the west coast & often times we're heating our pool in the winter months & that still doesn't feel right somehow. To make Christmas more meaningful, I try to spend time w/ my aging, ill or struggling loved ones & cheer them any way I can to brigthen their days and make them smile! May you have the Merriest, most blessed Christmas! Hugs, Stef
Well here is my story, I grew up in New York, Brooklyn to be exact, and everytime I hear this song it reminds me of the city with all the snow falling and all the lights. I did not grow up with Christmas, but I always loved the lights and the music, I didn't start really having Christmas until after I had gotten married, now we celebrate both the Holidays,
This song reminds me (and not to pleasantly) about all t he times my husband was gone and not with me and the kids and alot of that time was the holidays.....but work was work and you had to do what you had to do.....We survived but alot of the time was hard.....trying to raise 4 boys almost by yourself with your companion being sometimes very far away.....I can feel for the people that have loved ones in service.....well anyway....this is the song I picked .......
My grandmother passed away 5 years ago, and this was her favorite Christmas song. We were all blessed to be with her when she went home to live with her Savior. It was really difficult to get through, so if there are slip-ups, I apologize, but my entire heart was in this song.

Ok here's my story. I guess i should start by telling you i am from a large family i'm the baby of fifteen kids. As long as i can remember we would all get are best dresses on and off to church we would go mom, dad, and kids. I can remember as a child thinking the minister was never going to end the service lol and as i got older i hated to see it end. Ten years ago my father stood in front of our church and sang this song it would be his last Christmas with us he past away on Oct 5 1998 it was the worst day of my life i didn't think things would ever be the same. But my mother as always held us all together and made Christmas just as special as it always was. We still go to church and i still cry every Christmas eve wishing i could see my daddy one more time but i thank God for all he has given me and the joy i have of having the wonderful family i have.
Thank you so much for putting me through. Gonna try to catch up with listens today...
So many very moving stories here...Christmas isn't the same when loved ones are missing...my sister was taken home in September and this was one of her favourites, so this is in memory of her and in thanks for those I still have....
Reply by DivaDaynaGOLD on December 5, 2008 at 5:31 PM
This isn't my all time favorite song, because I just can't choose, but I LOVE this song!
The best Christmas ever is almost impossible to pick! lol Every year was so awesome, and I just adore my family so it's always wonderful no matter the situation. But the one year that still stands out for me was probably the year I got my very first karaoke machine! lol I seriously screamed and hugged that thing.....ahhhh memories! :) I believe it was 1993? 1994? lol
My fav Christmas I would have to say was 2007 ...it was the last christmas i will ever remember seeing my Mothers Lovely Smile ...Her Christmas tree....Just seeing my mother glow with happiness .....my mom passed away in March...so this year we are talking christmas to her ...we are taking a tree to her grave site about 75 of us and we are gonna sing around her tree ...and still bring her Christmas ...Im sure she will be Smiling and glowing again .....I know christmas will be very sad for all of us this year not being able to see or touch her...anyways yes 2007 was my fav christmas Ever !!!

ALL OUR CHRISTMASES WERE WHITE TO ME AS THEY WERE MADE THAT WAY BY OUR MUM WHO GAVE EVERYTHING TO MAKE SURE WE HAD A FANTASTIC TIME.
SHE GAVE HER ALL TO SEE WE REMEMBERED EVERY CHRISTMAS DAY BY DOING WITHOUT HERSELF AND GIVING US HAPPY TIMES TO TALK ABOUT.
WHITE CHRISTMAS AND BING CROSBY WERE ANNUAL EVENTS AS WELL, WATCHING HOLIDAY INN AND WHITE CHRISTMAS MOVIES WERE AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THE HOLIDAY SEASONS, SO THE SONG BRINGS BACK SO MANY WONDERFULL THOUGHTS AND STILL DOES EVEN THOUGH SHE HAD GONE FROM US.

O Holy Night/Traditional

This isn't my all time favorite song, because I just can't choose, but I LOVE this song!
The best Christmas ever is almost impossible to pick! lol Every year was so awesome, and I just adore my family so it's always wonderful no matter the situation. But the one year that still stands out for me was probably the year I got my very first karaoke machine! lol I seriously screamed and hugged that thing.....ahhhh memories! :) I believe it was 1993? 1994? lol
