(Swoops in from the blanket of night, deftly lands on SingSnap Towers rooftop without a sound, fearlessly scales the outside wall to the floor 50 storeys below…)
*cue fanfare* I HAVE ARRIVED! LADIES, FEAR NO MORE! Those of you about to faint please do so to the left so that I can deal with you in an orderly fashion. Thank you.
Wow ‘em with a big entrance my mother always used to say (she’s not dead, she just doesn’t say it anymore), especially when there’s very little else on offer. Bless her, I’m sure she means well…
Fortunately Rhythm & News, the newsletter written just for the SingSnap community, has plenty to offer as usual. Here in issue #8 we once again have the latest events in News-In-Brief, more of the News Team are dragged from their office slumber to tell you all about (defend) themselves in our Meet The Team section, another SingSnap staff member is asked to explain what he actually does here, plus the recipe and horoscopes take another bow. We also have a great article on bloopers, more travel tips, a guide on how to make your profile all pretty and plenty more inside.
You will notice that the newsletter layout as gone under the knife and “had a bit of work done” here and there. Instead of one long continuous page we now have a menu system at the top to link you to all the stories and articles. A brief note though for anyone still using Microsoft Internet Explorer IE6; WHY? It’s probably time for you to upgrade since IE6 appears to be problematic with the menu and is in any case no longer supported by Microsoft (currently we’re at IE8!). Alternatively Firefox and Google Chrome are just two alternative browsers that work just fine and to be completely sure we have also added a “back to contents” link at the top of each article so you can navigate the entire newsletter from the Contents list if you need to.
One last thing before I go; this will be the last newsletter with me as your Editor. I have thoroughly enjoyed my stretch on the last five issues of Rhythm & News and I am immensely proud of the hard work and commitment the News Team has afforded me during this period. Nothing lasts forever though and it is time to pass the torch. I take with me a sense of pride and achievement of a job well done (let’s not mention the runaway success of the Easter Egg contest, okay?) and I wish the new Editor every success for the future. I extend my eternal thanks to Trevor and the staff for having given me this wonderful opportunity and also to all the readers of Rhythm & News for making the whole enterprise worthwhile. It has been my great privilege to be part of such an excellent venture.
(Waves goodbye, wipes tear away, turns and walks towards SingSnap Towers, looks up at the 50 storey high wall and decides to take a bus instead)
