SingSnap's "Love Story" contest, Round One ~ "Unconditional Love" One being receives my unconditional love ~ my Inner Child. No one else, not even my darling loving husband, who saved me from a very ungratifying life (he's fun, too!). Adults have conditions - those conditions are to treat each other with honesty, respect and caring. "The Return to Innocence" means going back to a time before you were taught what was wrong with you, taught not to take chances, not to rock the boat, not to waste time daydreaming. Then start over, letting your imagination and sense of adventure run free! I realized, after reading The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, that many children, gifted with creative expression as we all are, were squashed into a conventional shape quite young - never achieving their potential. Like me...I made all kinds of poor choices because I didn't believe in my own worth. I'm not the nurturing type - so I have no children, pets or even houseplants to lavish unconditional love upon. But my Inner Child does need to be nurtured. Because...she has no place else to go, and she'll make my life miserable if she doesn't get attention! But in the years since I've hugged and played with my Inner Child regularly (she LOVES SingSnap!), we're both happier AND more loveable. When you are loveable, you will be loved.
