My quote was “What doesn't kill us makes us stronger” and immediately I knew I had to sing my story. This quote describes my life's journey. I grew up with an abusive and neglectful mother. I was home schooled at a young age and by 11 years old was left without any education at all. Having been always bullied for my weight by people and by my mother, I became very reclusive as a child. Suddenly, I couldn't leave the house anymore. I was Agoraphobic for 9 years of my life. Scared to leave my house. Scared of the world. But scared of what was living inside my house as well. You start to believe all things things about yourself you've been told. It was hard not to quit. But one day, I found the courage to break free from the that house... and I literally ran out the front door barefooted and ran for a mile. That moment literally changed my life. It took a lot of time and therapy and work, but I broke free. But I got my own job, apartment, I rode the bus... I got my GED. I took college courses. I've worked in management. I was a teacher at a preschool. I fell in love. I got married. I bought a house. I have founded a women's group for solely big gals that is hugely successful that is all about building self esteem and loving yourself for who you are. I'm 33... and my life has turned out to be amazing! <3 And I am open and free with my truth. And my hope would be if anyone out there is and has suffered any kind of abuse in their life to please seek help. You don't have to live that way. I picked “Skyscraper” because this whole song is about getting up after someone or something has knocked you down. That you can rise again. Bigger, Badder and Stronger. My life definitely did make me a stronger person. I found my own self worth. My own words. And I am proud of who I am. Atta Girl! :) <3 Thanks so much for watching! And THANK YOU SO MUCH for voting me into the finals. It's an honor.
