Scully Annual Ball, with Calamity Jane (Doris Day) and Wild Bill (Howard Keel) seated prominently in the head carriage and Lt. Danny Gilmartin (Philip Carey) and Katie (Allyn Ann McLerie) behind them. Wild Bill and Danny had previously drawn straws to see who would get to escort Katie; Wild Bill, as the loser, has now been forced to spend the evening with Calamity. Bitterly, in his typical cutting fashion, he critiques Calamity's attire (what he can see of it) and she puts him in his place with a slow explanation (like one would give to a child). Then, in a rare moment of agreement, they sing their pride and love for their homeland, accompanied by the rest of the cast. In October 2011, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association announced that Doris Day would be the recipient of the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award. Doris Day is still living..91 years old and holding! My thoughts... This was fun to learn and sing.. Doris Day was a favorite singer and actress of my parents.... they would sing most of her songs when we traveled on vacations... fun and beautiful memory! enjoy!!
