The storks have 4 eggs. 12 May 2012 evening ...Storkbabies the first born :-) How sweet :-) Since the incubation period is about 32 days, the offspring of the 12th MAI expects. Equality: Males and females take turns at the nest. One of the two storks constantly guarded the nest, this includes a regular rotation of the eggs so the chicks develop evenly. The other stork is within 1.5 km in search of food. Often bring the storks nesting material too, so the nest cavity is padded always warm and soft. Up to 2 inches thick branches and twigs are installed in the nest edge. #### ..........BAD NEWS :-(............ ( like last year ) 29.05.2012 Dropping of the 2nd Chick due to Scarcity of Fodder After the storks killed and dropped the first chick 25. 05.2012 the next one followed today 29.05.2012 at about 8:30 am. One of the parent storks fed the chicks normally and killed one right after. Because all chicks are of the same size and apparently in good health this was not anticipated. BECAUSE: the parent storks, due to the enormous dryness here, do not find enough small fodder. The young ones, at this age, require earth worms, snails and small insects. The absence of precipitation at the moment is the main reason. NOW we have only 2 storkbabies :-( +++ Storkbabies - today, 31.05.2012 = 20 days old :-) +++ Did you know? the stork babies are not fed. the parents put the nest only in the lining. the stork babies look then its lining - beetles, etc. It will not be long before she could even n frogs eat, they grow very quickly the storks fly here from August around 10 000 kilometers to South Africa - to the south :-) ################
