THE LOVE STORY CONTEST~UNREQUITED/LOST LOVE...ROUND2 My lost love begins with the "first man" I ever loved..my Daddy! When we lost him so tragically, our family circle was now broken. I was the biggest Daddys'girl in the world. He was always my strength and one of the most couragous,strong,and brave man I've ever known. When he was just 4 years old, he lost his leg in a farming accident. His Dad and uncles bought him a violin to learn to play while he recuperted from the amputation. They all tried to teach him to play and he simply could not do it. He saved that violin and always told me he wanted me to play. I couldnt wait till I was old enough to start taking lessons. I wanted to make Daddy proud of me. He told me for every year I play, he would give me $25..well, Im still playing so he owns me a bundle lol..If you know me you know I always wear something sparkly. thats for Daddy! When I played my first violin solo, he knew I was nervous and he said "You are just gonna sparkle and shine". That stuck with me, and still does today! At 36 years old he got cancer of the tongue. They just built a home and moved in in September, cancer surgery in December. They removed most of his tongue and we had to teach him to talk all over again..but he did it!! Then after he retired, cancer stuck again..prostate cancer. then Parkinsons Disease set in..this man still kept going! On December 10th, 1995, I went to their house to put up the Christmas tree. Mom said she had more shopping to do, so off we went. When we returned, Daddy was sitting at the kitchen table and I walked by him and put the packages in the bedroom. When i returned, he was at the sink, eyes glaring at me. I knew then he was choking and noticed a PB sandwich on the table.Because of his previous surgery and his Parkinsons he had alot of scar tissue in his throat. I always had to give him Heimleich when we ate. So I began Heimleich to no avail. He collapsed on the floor. I immediately called 911 and started CPR. They managed to revive him on the way to the hospital, but had to put him on life support. He was without oxygen to the brain for so long, he had no brain activity and decided to take him off life support 5 days later. I was devasted, he was only 68 years old.
