Ric Ocasek of the Cars,,died today age 75 RIP

A wonderful thought provoking song from Leonard Cohen, a songwriter/poet..a song of love and yet, despair

although called a dance song, and used in the movie "The Scent Of A Woman" it uses a Greek influence to the music and also Jewish traditional music ...I think it is a classic and a wonderful song despite it's dark undertones from Cohen...I think it is a great slow dance song as well as a thought provoking lyric that once you listen to it....you'll never listen to it the same way

According to Leonard Cohen "...that came from just hearing or reading or knowing that in the death camps, beside the crematoria, a string quartet was pressed into performance while this horror was going on, those were the people whose fate was this horror also. And they would be playing classical music while their fellow prisoners were being killed and burnt. So, that music, “Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin,” meaning the beauty there of being the consummation of life, the end of this existence and of the passionate element in that consummation As if spouses were saying dance with me to the end of our love
