The Man In The Picture

I heard a noise late one night
And quickly went to my baby's side
Mama, He said, When will Daddy be home?
I held back a sob as I gave him a hug
While looking for an answer to help him understand
I reached for the picture frame next to his bed

You know Daddy's a soldier, who had to go away
To help other soldiers, in a land far away
They fight for their freedom and to help keep ours, too

He says My Daddy's a Hero
And I kiss his cheek

To the world he's a hero, but to us, so much more
He's a husband, a father, a brother, a son
He's all of those things, rolled up in one
He's the man in the picture we want to come home
